Yuriko saw how Jogo died and realised what a mess the situation had turned into.
Yuji had lost control over his body to Sukuna.
"It'll be a while before we get to Satoru san." She whispered to herself but Megumi heard her, "I shouldn't have let Yuji out of my sight."
"We can't engage, if he senses you, you're dead." Megumi was scared he'd come for her next.
"For some weird reason, I don't think he will," she told Megumi, but her eyes were still fixed on Sukuna at a distance, "my cursed energy repels his. Get out of here, Megumi."
"NO!"
"I need you to find Toge and the others, it could get dangerous out here." She said, "LEAVE!"
"Promise me you'll be fine!"
"Containing Sukuna is our main concern and I need you to stay out of this."
"PROMISE ME!"
"I can't promise you that, Megumi." She said, "but I can promise you that I'll make him regret every single thing he's done."
Megumi wasn't satisfied, "if I sense that you're in danger, I'll c-"
"You won't." She sternly said before using Satoru's teleportation seal to get him out of there.
"Tch, I can't believe I was late for this. You sent your brother away", she knew it was Sukuna without even having to look at him, "you sensed me." She didn't understand why she wasn't scared.
"You're very good at concealing your presence, but with a cursed energy like that, I'd sense you anywhere," he wouldn't let go of the humiliation she'd subjected him to, "what do you have to say now that I'm here?" He grinned, "since I'm impressed with how you managed to do that to me, I'll grant you a wish."
"Why?" She asked.
"Because you remind me of someone I used to know. I can't seem to recollect, but... you're exactly like her." He mumbled, "state your name."
"No."
"You're just as difficult, too. Don't make me repeat myself, you've drained all my patience in my past life." He sighed, "come on, tell me your name."
"Zenin Yuriko."
"Ah..." he processed it, "and now, for your wish..."
"I don't want one." She said and he realised who he was trying to recall, "are you sure?" He asked.
"I am."
"You don't want to know why your cursed energy is completely incompatible with mine?" His smile grew wider, "you don't want to know why your cursed energy started developing so late? Why you're a devious void of eternal doom?"
Her eyes went wide when he said that. There's no way he could know. But then it was Sukuna. She knew he was brilliant and had vast knowledge on how cursed energy worked. "Aren't you curious?"
"I do have a wish," she said, "leave Yuji out of this. Leave everyone alone."
"Ehhh!" He made a playful buzzer-like noise, "you can't use it for someone else. I gave you a wish. Just for you."
"I don't want anything for myself." She stood her ground, her body was almost shaky with how strong his presence was.
He smiled like a maniac, "my, you're exactly like her. Are you sure you're not her?!"
"Who are you talking about??"
"Mayumi," he fondly said, "she was from the great Uchida clan. The woman hated me so much she drove me mad." he sighed, "unless you lived a thousand years ago, you wouldn't know her."
Yuriko didn't know what to say. She really wanted to ask him about this person called Mayumi, her cursed energy and everything wrong with it, but she wouldn't. She wouldn't want Sukuna to grant her a wish. Ever.
She was so lost in thought, she almost didn't realise when Sukuna held her wrist, "stop moving before I burn you." He mindlessly threatened as he examined her cursed energy, "I really should be killing you before you fully manifest it."
"What are you talking about?" She tugged her hand from his hold anyway.
"The Abyss of Hades." He wasn't smiling anymore. He wanted a reaction out of her. He wanted to see if she had the same domain expansion. When she just stared at him in contempt and astonishment, he swallowed hard, "I see," his haughty tone had dropped.
Just then, his head turned towards another very strong cursed energy. Megumi had summoned his most powerful shikigami using the Ten Shadows technique.
And Yuriko had also sensed the Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga. (No, I didn't make this up. If you're a manga reader, you'll prolly already know this one.)
"Oh, no...", she whispered.
"Wait here," Sukuna said before leaving.
"DO NOT HURT HIM!" She wasn't going to listen to him.
"I won't," Sukuna had no idea why he said that, "I thought I'd kill you first, but I need to go now. I'll fight you if you defeat that weakling."
Yuriko almost cursed aloud when she saw who he was referring to. It was the same cursed spirit which gave her nightmares.
"See ya." Sukuna left in a blink, leaving Yuriko behind with the new special grade curse to deal with.
"I hope you enjoyed them," the cursed chortled, "dreams are so much better than what happens here. They're peaceful, encouraging... almost wispy even."
"I need you out of my way, right now." Yuriko wanted to go after Sukuna, she couldn't waste any time with this.
"You don't want to see Geto again? I tried trapping you in my domain forever but that white haired guy just wouldn't let you."
She watched the curse go on and on about dreams and how they're so much better than the unpredictable reality.
"Are you trying to buy more time for yourself?" She pouted, "you know you're pathetic, right?"
"Pathetic?" The curse pointed at itself, "me? I'm actually stronger than Hanami, Mahito, Jogo and Dagon."
"And your point is?"
"You're in the way of merging my creation of dreams with the reality. You're in Sukuna's w-" the curse stopped when her cursed energy finally formed around her, shivers ran down its spine as the expressions on her face died, "let's get this over with. I really don't have the time."
She effortlessly fought the special grade curse, her physical prowess had exceeded even Toji's. When she completely defeated it with her simple domain and without even having to use her domain expansion, she'd surpassed most of the strongest sorcerers of her time.
"I hope Megumi is okay." She healed her wounds before quickly heading towards Megumi.
As expected, Sukuna was fighting Mahoraga but what confused her more was that he'd healed Megumi.
"GOOMI!" She quickly checked him for wounds before hugging him, "ARE YOU ALRIGHT?"
"I healed him, he won't die soon," Sukuna showed off in the middle of his fight, "looks like you defeated that curse!"
"What is he doing and why is he being so weird?" She asked Megumi, "why did he heal you?"
"He said he'd keep me alive for you." He said, "and for himself... I don't know why."
"Something doesn't seem right." She said.
"What's wrong?"
"It's Sukuna." She tried to understand what was happening, "there's no way he'd help without it benefiting him. He'd never."
"Why do you think he healed me then?"
"The only possible explanation is to use you as his next vessel."
