A/N: I want to cry

There's nothing happy about this.

"This is a problem," he said, "I don't think this body will let me kill her."

"Looks like it," Mahito said, "but do you think I can?"

"I don't think he'll let you," Kenjaku looked at his hands.

"I need a new body," he said before pausing to think for a minute, "Yuriko would be perfect actually, she's very powerful." He felt his arm twitch again, making him stop talking about her.

"We can't kill her, this is a pain in the ass." Jogo saw his arms tremble as his muscle memory activated.

"But we can make her suffer until she gives up." Mahito smiled. "I know a way."

————————

"Yuriko..."

She opened her eyes and found herself in the spring meadows. It was so calm and quiet, skies laced with foamy clouds, the wind softly whistling through the glades.

Her heart soon picked up the pace, her breaths now faster... she knew that presence all too well.

"Suguru san??" She looked behind her, her eyes twinkled as soon as she captured his outline at a distance. He had a soft smile on his face, and he seemed so happy to see her. Like he was waiting just for her.

"Suguru san..." Tears welled in her eyes as she ran towars him, her vision was getting blurry with how her eyes pooled but she could see him waiting for her with open arms. Just for her.

She crashed into him, inhaling his scent, his warmth breaking her poor heart into a million pieces, and then a million more. Her fingers gripped the fabric of his Yukata as she sobbed into his chest, his hands gently caressing her hair, "I missed you so much, my love." He placed a small kiss on her head and she broke down trembling, "I love you. I love you so much!" She wailed like a baby.

"I'm here now," he held her tight, "did you miss me, baby?"

"I missed you so much." She held onto him like he would disappear again, "I missed you." She kept saying it over and over again, with pain coursing through her veins. She desperately held onto him as he smiled at her, gentle as ever. Like he always was with her.

"I've been waiting for you, Yuri." His fingers lovingly held her chin, "I finally created the perfect world for you, my darling. I kept my promise" He looked across the hill and she followed his line of vision, until she saw...

"Haruto?"

"They're all here."

"They are?"

"Mhmm..." his soft hum put her at ease, "and you're here. You're finally here. This is the perfect place for us." He smiled pressing a gentle kiss on her lips, a tear running down his face with how happy he was to see her again. His eyes shone under the somber sky as they traced the features on her face.

"No. I-" her sobbing got worse when she realised it was a dream, "I-" she couldn't talk anymore "wait for me, please." She whimpered as he held her in his arms, "please." She was terrified of letting go. "Please don't go. Please wait for me. Please. Please."

"I love you. Endlessly. I held up my end of the bargain and now it's your turn" A tear fell from his eyes, "oh, I missed you very much."

"I missed you too." She couldn't breathe, "I missed you so much it hurts."

"It did?" He cooed in her ear, "I'm so sorry, my love. I'm here now. I'm not going anywhere."

"Promise?"

"Yuriko?"

She felt another familiar voice call her. Satoru's.

"YURIKO!" He held her in his arms, terrified of what he was seeing. She was struggling to breathe in her sleep and her face was damp with tears.

He'd rushed to her room when he felt something amiss.

"Could you..." her soft voice carried so much pain. She looked at Satoru, her lifeless eyes peering into his very worried once's, "...please kill me?"

He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, "was the nightmare that bad?"

"It was very nice," she took deep breaths, multiplying his worries.

"You need to sleep," he placed her head back on the pillow before getting under the sheets, "come here, sweetheart. You need to rest more." He pressed a kiss on her forehead.

"I need to die." She said and Satoru was now petrified.

"No." His voice was shaky but his hands were warm when they wiped the tears off her face, "everything is going to be fine. I got you. I always will."

"You promise?" Her eyes were droopy again.

It was yet another promise he didn't know if he could keep. But it made him feel better, working towards one promise after another, "I promise, baby."

Yuriko was in pieces. She stopped sleeping and it made her very sick. She felt better sleeping next to Satoru but she couldn't sleep for long.

"Something's not right...," Shoko looked at Satoru who was zoning out, his brows scrunching in distaste as he thought about something, "...did she tell you anything about the nightmares?"

"No" he said.

"What is it?"

"There's new residuals," he sounded so pissed, "a new curse."

"Where?"

"She's only sleeping okay when I sleep with her." He said, "there's new residuals when I'm not around."

"That doesn't sound good." Shoko said, "she was planning on moving out soon."

"No..." He said, "She can't. Have you seen how weak she's become?"

"You're right." Shoko hissed under her breath.

"Shoko, can you figure it out?" Principal Yaga was also concerned.

"I'll figure something out," she said, "I need Satoru to keep her close until then. I don't know why this is happening, but I'll figure it out."

"I'll try to find something useful too." He expressed his displeasure before storming out. He went looking for her in the library, only to find her sound asleep on a desk in the middle of all the bickering students.

Megumi tense hand gently caressed her head, he knew she wasn't sleeping and it bothered him greatly. "Will she be fine?"

It hurt Satoru so much to see him like that. His sister Tsumiki was very sick, and now Yuriko... he couldn't imagine what he was going through. That boy had tough luck. A deadbeat dad, a runaway mother, almost sold to the Zenin clan, Tsumiki fell ill and he watched Itadori die. Satoru was the happiest person when he finally opened up to Yuriko. And now this...

He looked so sad, Satoru felt his throat burn, "she'll be alright. I'll make sure she is."

"I heard from Shoko that she's very sick," Nanami also came looking for her.

"Did you finish your mission?" Satoru looked rather serious and Nanami's brow twitched when he sensed it, "I did."

"Sit with her and the kids," he said, "I need to go check around my house and see which imbecile had the fucking audacity to bother her so much."
