"Guess what I dreamt about last night?"

Daisy had just awoken from the most wonderful dream. She hummed to herself as she changed into her Gryffindor uniform and ran a brush through her hair.

"Potter," guessed Marlee and Gwen at the same time. Of course, they were right.

"Well, duh, but I meant what happened, not who," said Daisy. Gwen looked at her blankly. Marlee sighed.

"I know we were both trying to get you to admit you fancied James," Marlee said, "but now that you've done it, he's all you talk about. I don't get why you won't just ask him out."

"I've told you a million times," said Daisy. "He's stopped fancying me, I rejected him too much, and the public would hate me. All valid reasons."

"So ... you're just going to stare from afar?" asked Gwen. Daisy nodded.

"Anyway, are either of you going to ask me what happened in the dream?" asked Daisy. Gwen sighed.

"Go ahead, gush away."

Daisy squealed. She loved when Gwen and Marlee gave her an opening to talk about James because she needed to get some thoughts out of her brain and into the world. Only to Marlee and Gwen, however.

"Alright, so we were at Quidditch practice," began Daisy.

She continued gushing for the entirety of the walk down to the Great Hall. By the time she had finished, they were already inside the crowded Hall. Marlee chuckled.

"So you're telling me that James shot the Quaffle from all the way on the other side of the pitch?" she asked. Daisy nodded furiously. "Then, he ignored all his fans and gave you a hug before anybody else?"

"Yes, isn't it wonderful?"

"Well, it is very James, but I doubt anyone could—"

Daisy smacked a hand to Marlee's mouth. They had come within earshot of James, Benjamin, and Thomas, who seemed to be drowning their pancakes in maple syrup. Gwen not-so-lightly shoved Daisy into James, who gasped in surprise as she bumped into his shoulder.

"Sorry!" she apologized, taking a seat beside him. James smiled.

"Morning, Daisy," he said. "Want some syrup?"

He handed her a very empty bottle of maple syrup. She raised her eyebrows at him and in response, he plopped a waffle onto her plate.

"Sorry, I love syrup a bit too much," he laughed. "Just eat a waffle. Sleep well last night? Any fun dreams?"

This made Daisy's face heat up. Marlee snorted. Gwen choked on her pumpkin juice.

"What, do I have syrup on my nose or something?" asked James, looking very concerned. He picked up a reflective goblet and began furiously patting the tip of his nose down with a napkin. Daisy pulled his hand away.

"No, James, your face is ... perfect," she muttered.

"Well, I try," replied James sarcastically. Thomas furrowed his eyebrows at Daisy. "Anyway, answer the question, please!"

"Yeah, I slept well," said Daisy. "No dreams tonight, as per usual."

"Weird, that's exactly what you said yesterday," said James, cocking his head to the side. "Literally, word for word."

"Well, I'm sorry my dreams aren't as interesting as yours, James," chuckled Daisy, trying her best to play it off. "Um ... anyone else excited for our next class!"
