James Potter. P.O.V.
For the first time in weeks, James was completely and uncontrollably happy.
It had taken him forever to fall asleep last night, probably because the girl he had fancied for all his life had kissed him.
Who knew that all he had to do was confess?
He jumped up from his bed, completely lovestruck and awaiting when he could see her beautiful face again.
James still couldn't believe it. He had kissed Daisy Wood! That was the last thing he had expected to happen to him, more unlikely than an asteroid hitting the Earth. But it had happened, and James was over the moon.
He smiled and hummed How You Get the Girl by Taylor Swift to himself as he changed into some casual clothes and ruffled his hair. Luckily, today was a weekend, meaning he could spend the entire day with the girl he loved.
James pranced down the stairs, his mind only really thinking about Daisy Wood. He couldn't get her out of his head—her smile, her "good night," her kiss.
When he reached the Great Hall, his eyes looked through the entire room for Daisy, just to not find her. However, he saw Benjamin and Thomas.
"Hey, guys, good morning!" he exclaimed, sitting down to join them. He couldn't wait to tell them the news. Oh, Benjamin would be so excited and Thomas would ... well, he didn't want to think about that.
"Hey, James!" smiled Thomas. "You're really cheery this morning!"
"It's a beautiful day," said James. Benjamin chuckled.
"Why'd you leave the party so early last night?" asked Benjamin. "I saw you leave with Daisy around midnight, but then she came down without you about twenty minutes later and then you were asleep when I went to bed at three."
"Oh, I've got the biggest news!" said James. "I'm not joking, this is the best thing that's ever happened to me. Are you ready?"
"Yeah, just say it, mate!" said Benjamin, as he and Thomas leaned in. James grinned.
"Daisy kissed me last night!" he announced excitedly. His two friends looked at him blankly. They must've been in shock. "I know you guys are shocked. So am I! Isn't it incredible?"
"Daisy kissed you?" asked Thomas.
"Yup! I told her I loved her and she kissed me!"
"Then why did Daisy come down without you?" asked Benjamin.
"Because she said she had to 'process' everything," explained James, beginning to wonder why they didn't seem excited. "Why aren't you guys screaming right now?"
"Oh, James ..." muttered Thomas, as if he was comforting a kindergartener. "I bet you had a lot of Firewhiskey last night and it was quite late ..."
"Yeah, mate, dreams can get really elaborate if you chug Firewhiskey."
James' eyes widened. How could his friends think he had merely been dreaming? Fine, maybe he had been unsuccessful for thirteen straight years, but—OK, maybe James could see why.
"It wasn't a dream," said James. "I'm serious! She kissed me!"
"Alright, bud, we'll just ask her now," said Benjamin. "Here she comes."
James turned and saw Daisy walking into the Great Hall with Marlee and Gwen by her side, all chatting excitedly about something. Daisy's eyes lit up when she saw James. His heart swelled and he beamed wider than he ever had before. There she was.
