Dear Daisy Wood,
On behalf of the Holyhead Harpies, I'm happy to welcome you into the Harpies training program!
We went to watch the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup a few weeks ago and saw your magnificent potential. If you choose to accept this offer, you will be training with the current Holyhead Harpies as well as potential team members for three weeks this summer to prepare you for next year's season.
In other words, you'd be a professional Quidditch player-to-be! Please reply with your decision before June 1st.
Gwenog Jones.
Daisy had read the letter perhaps a hundred times since its arrival five days ago. She was still in disbelief.
She remembered waking up her friends to celebrate with her, sending a copy to her parents, quickly replying with a yes, and beginning independent practice.
Daisy simply couldn't believe it. After years of practice, she had her dream.
"You're not reading the letter again, are you?"
Daisy whipped around at the sound of Marlee's voice. Daisy hadn't even noticed her opening the door to the girls' dormitory. The blonde girl smiled sheepishly.
"I still can't believe it, alright?" she said, defending herself. Marlee chuckled before plopping down on Daisy's bed, as well.
"Well, I for one am not shocked at all," Marlee said. Daisy raised her eyebrows. "I don't think you should be, either! You've worked hard and you were already super talented to begin with. You going pro was bound to happen. Wow, Daisy. You've aced your N.E.W.Ts and secured your dream job. I'm so happy for you!"
"I haven't aced them yet, Marls!" insisted Daisy. After months and months of studying, she had found the N.E.W.Ts incredibly easy. Of course, she would never admit that out loud, out of fear of jinxing it or causing future embarrassment. "I just said that the questions were easier than expected. Also, I wouldn't say I secured the job, just that I've been granted the opportunity."
Marlee snatched the letter out of her hands and read, "In other words, you'd be a professional Quidditch player-to-be!"
"Well, that's not fully guaranteed," said Daisy. Then, she squealed. "I'm so excited!"
The last few days had been heaven and hell. Daisy was beyond excited for the future, especially training with the Holyhead Harpies, receiving her N.E.W.Ts results, and maybe even moving in with James.
On the other hand, she was saying goodbye to her home tomorrow. She could now only see Lily, Remus, Rose, and Alice during the summer and winter instead of nearly every day. She had to learn to break out of the study, practice, party, sleep, and repeat routine that she had grown accustomed to.
Daisy felt that the pros outweighed the cons.
"Where are the others, anyway?" she asked Marlee. The brunette girl grinned and dragged Daisy out of the bed.
"They're all in our spot in front of the common room fire," Marlee told her. "What do you say to one last late-night fireside chat?"
"Lead the way!"
Moments later, the two girls had traversed down the stairs and into the Gryffindor common room. Daisy had taken this place for granted all these years but now every stained glass window, every misplaced rug, and every leftover textbook seemed beautiful to her. The best of all were the four people sitting in front of the grand fireplace. Daisy sprinted over and jumped into the empty space beside James. As if on instinct, he instantly lifted his left arm to wrap around her shoulders.
