The red sweater that James had given Daisy was beginning to wear because of how much she wore it, but she couldn't care less.
It was her favourite sweater of all time because of who had given it to her—the boy that was now holding her hand tight as they walked to the Great Hall for breakfast.
The past few days had been heaven on Earth. If she had known dating James made her this happy, she definitely would've kissed him earlier. She had gotten congratulatory words from McGonagall, Longbottom, Hagrid, Slughorn ... pretty much everyone in her life.
"I can't believe you haven't told your parents yet," said Daisy. "I mean, I've told mine and they were really happy about it."
"I will, as soon as I can," he said. "If you've forgotten, Daisy, I've spent every waking moment with you and I haven't got time for anything else!"
"Not something you should be saying to your Quidditch Captain, Potter," chuckled Daisy, as the two of them entered the Great Hall and made their way over to the Gryffindor table. When they sat down, Thomas, Benjamin, Gwen, and Marlee waved in greeting. "Anyway, take a guess how many girls glared at me yesterday."
"Hm," muttered James, rubbing his chin as if in deep thought. Daisy grinned. "Thirteen?"
"Seventeen!" she exclaimed. James groaned.
"So close!" he said. "You know what, I'll get it tomorrow. How many times did you glare back at them?"
"Guess."
"Zero."
"Hey, give me some credit!" insisted Daisy, knowing full well he was right. James raised his eyebrows at her. "Fine, it was zero. I'm still working on my glare."
"Give me your fiercest glare right now."
Daisy mustered up all the anger she had—which was none—and forcefully stared at James for a few seconds before he burst into laughter.
"You look constipated," said Benjamin. Daisy sighed. "Ooh, is it 'cause we have Potions today?"
There was a collective groan from Thomas, Gwen, Marlee, James, and Daisy. Potions was unbearable.
"Oh, I have the best idea, my lady," said James. Daisy nodded. "What if we sat at the back of the classroom and just snogged the entire time?"
"Please, no," snapped Thomas. "You two need to lay off. I can't even walk into the common room without throwing up a little in my mouth."
"James, I'm not risking another detention," laughed Daisy. He frowned. "Plus, Slughorn keeps sitting us at separate tables. Maybe, he's jealous of me as well!"
James chuckled before tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear and kissing her. Her heart exploded. She never got sick of that feeling.
Daisy always knew that they got countless stares each time they had any public displays of attention, but that was something she could live with. She had come to terms with that a while ago because James was worth it all.
"No way!"
Daisy pulled away from James at the sound of Gwen's incredulous tone. James looked confused.
"Gwen, shut up," said James, before pulling Daisy in again. She pushed him away gently and looked up instead. "Look what you've done to my girlfriend, Gwen."
"Oh, shove off, perv," retorted Gwen.
Daisy ignored them as she watched an owl fly over the Gryffindor table and approach them. It was Aura, the Potter family owl. She smiled, before seeing something familiar tucked in her beak—a red and crispy letter. Her jaw dropped.
