The days following Daisy and James' big fight were a truckload of annoyance and frustration. Promptly following her advice session with McGonagall, where the Headmistress had told her that most teenage boys would let her down but she didn't need them, it seemed as though the whole school had found out about how Hogwarts' heartthrob was yelled at by the kindest girl in the school.
Daisy avoided any places where she knew James and was successful, having not caught sight of him yet. Now, a week after the incident, Daisy had finally decided to stay away from James for good.
What she found was that many of the girls who pined over James were no longer hostile toward her. Even Romilda Volkov hadn't shot her a glare since the fight. Now, she was in the library picking out some books to borrow for the summer. After relentless persuading, Madam Pince had finally allowed her to check out a total of five books. So, she picked some books for the subjects she wished to pursue next year and plopped down onto a comfortable chair beside the door.
"Daisy?"
She looked up and saw Remus and Lily staring at her, both with anxious looks on their faces.
"Hey, guys," she smiled, putting her books into her bag. "What d'ya need?"
"We heard what happened ..." said Lily. linking her arm with Daisy's as the three of them left the library and began to walk towards the Great Hall. "Well, Remus and I forced it out of James yesterday. Before that, it was mostly the rumours ..."
"Someone said you hit him into the Whomping Willow," chuckled Remus. "Oh, how I would've liked to see that." Lily nudged him. "Ouch! Anyways ... we just wanted to say you shouldn't feel so uncomfortable. James won't try to approach you again for at least a few weeks."
"Thanks, that's good," said Daisy.
"Oh, and Mum and Dad want you to come over during the summer again!" said Lily happily. "You will, won't you?"
"I will, for you guys," said Daisy, grinning. "And I bet Thomas would kill me if I didn't go. But - er - do your parents know what happened?"
"Nah, James is holding off on telling them because he's scared he's going to get a Howler," shrugged Remus. "But they'll know for sure once we get back home."
"Do you guys think they might hate me?" asked Daisy nervously. This had been a question that was nagging at her during the past week. Antheia and Harry were her second parents and they never made her feel anything less than amazing.
"Of course, not," assured Remus. "They love you. I actually think they might yell at James. Dad'll be mad for sure. I think this kind of thing happened to his dad so he's bound to make sure James learns from his mistakes."
"Alright, thanks, guys," smiled Daisy. "Look, I've got to go pack now since we're leaving tomorrow. See you guys!"

Daisy stood at the foot of her four-poster bed, staring down at the suitcase in front of her. The dorm room was clean and all the posters had been taken down. It looked so bare; Daisy had forgotten what it had looked like at the beginning of the year before they had decorated it.
"Right, the train is leaving soon," said Marlee, brushing a hand through her hair. "Oh, don't forget Pig."
"Of course not," said Daisy, placing her pygmypuff on her shoulder. Its pink fur contrasted with the blonde girl's blue hoodie. She took the suitcase off the bed and slipped on her black sneakers. "Ready?"
"Can't believe we're done with our fifth year!" exclaimed Gwen, as the three girls descended down the stairs. "Before you know it, we'll be graduating!"
