"Wake up, Daisy! Oh, Merlin ..."

Daisy rubbed her eyes and sat up in her four-poster bed, wondering why Marlee was waking her up. It was dark outside, meaning the sun had not risen even slightly. She had considered sleeping through breakfast the night before, as she had stayed up late doing some reading.

"What is it, Marlee?" she yawned, standing up and opening her eyes. "I might sleep in today so, go to breakfast without me —"

Just then, she spotted a large pile of pink, red, and white candies, parchment, boxes, and, of course, an abundance of daisies in the middle of their shared dormitory. She collapsed back onto her bed, face first. She could hear Marlee and Gwen giggling behind her.

"It's Valentine's Day already?" she groaned, turning over and looking at the pile once again. "I don't have room for all this! He couldn't have just bought the candy? I love his candy but the flowers ... where'd he even get all these daisies?"

"Can I have some of your candy?" asked Gwen.

"Ooh, me, too!" exclaimed Marlee.

"Leave me the Chocolate Frogs and, like, five of every other kind," answered Daisy, joining them. "I've got to make the most of this, right?"

"Why're you even mad, again?" asked Marlee, taking a bite into a Licorice Wand. "Why not accept the gifts?"

"I just feel bad ..." she said worriedly. "He could be spending this kind of money on someone he's going out with, not me."

"Just take a look at one of these letters!" said Gwen, picking up one of the pieces of parchment. She cleared her throat and read aloud, "Dear my Valentine, don't skip breakfast, alright? I've got more."

"The rest of the letters have cheesy puns on them, I think," said Marlee. Daisy sighed.

"Dear my Valentine, please stop wasting your money," she said. "I guess we can't skip breakfast, then ..."

"Boohoo, you get loads of presents each year on Valentine's," joked Gwen, licking some No-Melt Ice Cream. Daisy and Marlee both laughed.

"Let me read some of these ..." said Marlee, picking up a sparkly pink piece of parchment. "I think somebody's casted 'Silencio' because I'm absolutely speechless in your presence."

"Well, that one's just wrong," commented Daisy. "He never stops talking 'in my presence'."

"Ooh, this one's in the shape of a heart!" exclaimed Gwen, picking up a piece of parchment in the shape of a golden heart. "I think about you every daisy. Oh, that's kind of good!"

"Credit where it's due, these are getting more and more creative," said Daisy, laughing.

Daisy stood up and threw on a white cardigan, brushed her hair quickly, and put on her black sneakers. She walked back over to her bedside table and clasped on the crescent moon necklace that she knew James had secretly gotten her for Christmas and placed her pygmypuff onto her shoulder.

"You're in for a ride, Pig," she muttered.

Reluctantly, Daisy made her way down the many moving stairs to the Great Hall with Marlee and Gwen. She was hoping that food would be present, noticing that she was craving some pancakes.

"So what do you think it'll be this time?" asked Gwen.

"Could be anything," said Marlee. "I hope it doesn't mess with my food. I'm starving. That's why I ate so many of your gifts just now. But sharing is caring."

"And it's not like I can finish it on my own, anyway," said Daisy, laughing. "This is going to suck. How long is James going to keep this up? I'm so sick of it. Plus, I've got homework that I've got to do so I have to eat quickly."
