Khiane Courtney's POV

"I want to re-open the case. I want to reconsider another trial. Motion of reconsideration, Uncle." I said with all confidence when I walked across Uncle's office.

I have been thinking about this for a few months now... seven years... seven years waiting was, I think, enough.

I've been waiting for this to happen. Ever since she won the case, I didn't want to hear anything about it ever again. I didn't know if Dad was found guilty or not, but one thing's for sure for me.

She won the case with no fucking mercy.

I think that's enough to slap me in my face.

She really did represent him in court.

"What?" Kumunot ang noo ni Uncle. "Are you serious, KC?"

"I am." I said, still walking like a runaway model in my corridor. "I have the money and the power now, Uncle. I can't stay like this—knowing I could do something."

"They will only deny the trial."

"Why would they?" I looked up to Uncle. He stopped walking, so am I. His statement made me stop walking, it caught me off guard.

Why would they deny the trial?

"The attempted murder case and the usage of drugs weren't enough. It wasn't the only crime he did! Mababago ang rulings and verdict, Uncle. Mas mabigat na ebidensya ang meron tayo, what was his sentence? Four years? Ten? Sixteen? Those years weren't enough! He deserves life sentence!"

"The SC's decision isn't absolute, KC. You know that it can still change as for how heavy the evidence you have against the respondent in order to change the rulings and verdict." Mahinahon niyang ani.

"Exactly! That's why I want to re-open the case!" Nawawalan ng pasensyang sagot ko.

"I will ask our attorney about this, KC." Uncle answered, now looking so serious. I could see Grandpa's eyes in him—it was black, and it gets darker every second and it is scary.

Pero hindi ako papatalo. If he's mad, I am mad, too!

"We have to ask for their opinion first. It wasn't us who filed a case against your Dad, it was Attorney Tonyo Marquez."

"What is Dad's relation to him?" I asked with my brows furrowed. "Why would Dad attempt to kill him? What is his role in Dad's life?"

"Attorney Tonyo Marquez is your Mom's personal lawyer. At first, they thought it was homicide, but no, it was attempted murder."

"What? What about Mom's personal lawyer?"

"Let's not talk about this." Aniya bago ako lagpasan. Napa-buga ako ng hangin. Wala naman nang masyadong tao sa corridor ngayon dahil halos alas sais na ng gabi.

My employees are not here. They went home.

And, oh, yeah... employees. Three years ago, Uncle told me that before my grandpa passed away, his business was given to me—it was now named after me, so basically, it's mine.

Aside from studying, I was also working here... I was so clueless about what's really happening inside the office, or what's the business all about... but thankfully, after six months, I learned how to manage and run the company my Lolo has given to me.

Uncle was my trainer. Damn it, I hated him as my supervisor! He was strict and such! Who wouldn't even consider me taking a five minute nap while waiting for my order!

I am graduating med school sooner then I'll take the licensure exam before my residency.

I still ain't a doctor right now, but I am a CEO of my own company.
