34: bravery and consequences

The two had been asking around for a while with no success. It was getting later and later. The sun had started to move faster and that was worrisome.

"Tae, dear I think we should split up here and divide our search. We need to get back before nightfall."

"oh, alright. I will try my best" Taehyung nodded. He would prefer to stick together. He doesn't feel safe when he is too far apart from the wizard. But if he wants to be an adventurer he can't hide behind the other all the time. He would only be a burden that way. So he will see this as an inviting challenge.

"good, you take the market side, i will take the streets over there. We meet right here when we finish or got something useful. If not we meet here anyway before the sun hits the horizon,

"okay, will do"

"do be careful please. This place isnt as guarded as between the walls of Ouvasta."

"I will, it will be fine. I'm a quick runner, "Taehyung smiled and then they both walked separate directions.

"yes, he looked like the man that has been on the flyers a while back. But they have been removed. Strange." the man said. "why are you asking?"

"I am investigating on request, I have to report back to the general. They are looking for this specific man." Taehyung lied. Speaking clear and confidently.

"i see, well then. I think this might be of use too. The man you look for went through the south gate. Into the wilderness, I don't know where he was going. But he most likely had to take a stop at the village on the fields, it was night and i'm sure he could use some sleep. The man looked scared but also exhausted.... Strange figure he was''

"thank you for your help, we will work hard to capture him." taehyung gave a firm nod and turned around with his fake confident posture. Once he was around a corner he relaxed and took a few deep breaths. "cant. Believe that he actually believed that, maybe im more convincing than i thought" he chuckled at himself and looked at the sky. He almost gasped seeing the sun almost hit the horizon. "shit i gotta get back right away!"

Taehyung struggled to get back to where they parted but he somehow stumbled upon the street they were to meet again.
He already saw Jungkook nervously pacing around with a worried look on his face. A face that turned into relief once he saw Taehyung.

"oh, thank the sun you're alright," jungkook said and suddenly hugged the other shortly. "i began to doubt my decision to part. What did you find out?" he said, holding the other's shoulders.

"a man who had encountered the murderer. He said he left through the south gate and he thinks he might have taken a rest at the village on a field somewhere there."

"ah, yes...I've never actually been there since i was younger. I know where that is. But its too far from here, we will fly with Zuzu once we are able to."

"what do you mean? Aren't we going back now?" Taehyung asked.

"I prefer not to travel here during the night. It's dangerous."

"but...I don't feel safe here either. I want to get back behind those walls.."

"I know but..."

"you're strong right? What is out there thats so dangerous?" taehyung asked. Not a strange question, Jungkook expected it.

"outcasts and criminals. People with bad intentions. And yes, I am strong but I do not find joy in hurting others. I only do so if i must. Jungkook crossed his arms.

"People have been looking at us, I don't think we can stay here longer either..." Taehyung remembered the man said that the criminal's face was on the flyers... Jungkook's wanted flyers? If so... These people would probably no longer want to help them very soon.
