35: Back in the sky

The two safely arrived back at the pharmacy home after that. The whole family was already fast asleep, even Jimin. The snores could be heard from his bedroom door. He really sounded far away in dreamland.

But Taehyung felt wide awake. He only since a few minutes ago started to feel really shaken by all that. He just now started to realize all he had seen and needed to process it first.

"Taehyung, here. Take this, put it somewhere." Jungkook said taking a knife with a green and ruby stone decorated sheath from his backpack.

"w-what wait..What why, no no i cant take that. I'm no knight, i cant use that"

"it's just a dagger. You don't need to be taught how to fight to swing a blade around. And besides, you're better than you think you are at using weapons. I've seen seen You playing with that sword.''

"you?!"

"The windows of the palace are quite... big...." he chuckled.  "now take it"

"but-"

"You need to be able to protect yourself. Everything might look friendly before but I can feel some growing tension in everyone... Things will not be safe the further we go. And I'm afraid I can't predict everything, I've only got two hands and eyes darling."

"okay..  Okay I'll... take the knife then." Taehyung took the weapon and just held it in his arms, unsure where to leave it. For now he just put it with his bag and hoped he never has to actually use one.
But Jungkook was right, especially after tonight. Things might not be as happy and colorful here as he thought.

"I don't want to scare you or make you feel unsafe..." Jungkook's voice softened and he sat down next to Taehyung on the bed. "i just really don't want you to get hurt. I promised to keep you safe...I won't be able to forgive myself if I let you get hurt too." Jungkook sighed. He really wants to do things right but each time there is something that goes wrong. First he used too much violence and now he makes himself look like he is forcing the other to fight. It's not what he was trying to say. He just wants to make sure he did everything to keep him protected.

"its okay, i get it. I'm not afraid, I still feel safe. As long as you are here with me I will feel safe, '' Taehyung said and placed a hand on Jungkook's shoulder. The raven smiled a little and relaxed. Then unexpectedly he was engulfed in a hug. "thank you for everything you're doing. And you don't need to worry either, we will get to the bottom of this together. Im your loyal partner"

"you're really special, Tae."

"T-tae?" the prince parted with a shy look.

"oh sorry do-"

"no, I don't mind. I like it"

They smiled in silence. Not an uncomfortable silence. But a silence where both were unsure what to say. One was confused about his feelings while the other was afraid of ruining what they had now....

And that thing kept unspoken.

"I I'll use the bathroom first then....Best we get some rest" taehyung said nervously and quickly got his stuff scurrying to the bathroom.

The next morning the two of them were awake at the first rays of sun. They shared a breakfast with the Park family before heading out with packed bags and freshly washed clothes. Mrs. Park had cleaned them and neatly ironed them.

"Jungkook, take this for the trip. You never know when you need it." Jimin stood at the city gates to wave them off. Holding a wooden box in both his hands.

"We will come back Jimin, no need to worry this time" Jungkook said and looked in the box, seeing medicine, herbs, fresh fruit and some wrapped up baked bread.

"I know, I know. I just want you to be safe out there. You don't know if there are any dangers on the way."

"you're always such a good friend. Thank you " Jungkook took the box.

"There can be only one best friend, and that will always be me. Take care out there. Both of you, come back in one piece. We will hold a feast upon your arrival "Jimin smiled and bowed at them before waving them off. Giving Taehyung a big smile as well.

"Okay, let's go get my house." Jungkook chuckled and they both walked over the path back to the fields. Once they had a big space he used the whistle and they waited.

There through the forest a big creature flew up and came their way. A house on its shell, along with the beautiful lively flower field with a tree. Zuzu was back.

She landed her heavyweight near them with a plof. Humming in joy when the two approached her. She had missed her two friends.

"ahw, zuzu. My friend. It's good to see you, I hope you had fun out there. We are going out on an adventure again. A lot of flying is ahead of us."

Zuzu closed her eyes when Jungkook petted her cheek and hummed in agreement.

"Okay, Taehyung take my hand. We are leaving right away."

The prince did as told and took the wizard's hand. Together they jumped on her back as if they were floating in the air. Softly landing back on their feet in the soft grass of her shell.

"fly east Zuzu. We have to be fast, time is ticking for me" Jungkook said and quickly went to put the bags inside with Taehyung. Inside the cabin they felt Zuzu fly up as the ground shook, but once she was up everything was calm and steady again.

"So how far is it, do you think?"

"a few hours not more. I think around two hours, but I never stopped there so I might be wrong.

"Well, we still have time to prepare ourselves again then." Taehyung sighed.

They were flying for a while already and the two had been spending the time outside. Jungkook made sure they were going the right way while Taehyung was leaning on the fence and looking down at the ground below them.

He saw a lot of nature but also a group of horsemen, small villages, farmers and even a huge moving stone creature. Jungkook told him they were what he calls them, walking rocks. They were protectors of sacred ponds in the forest. A place with magic.

He also said he will take Taehyung to one, one day when they have time. It was sure worth a visit before he leaves this world.

"huh..." Taehyung suddenly saw something familiar down there. A thin crack that went on for a while until now, it suddenly went bigger into the biggest crack he had seen so far. A village completely fallen in there, the purple glow discovering the grass into this toxic color. But that wasn't it. Suddenly a deep rumbling was heard and the crack went sider. A side branch appeared and more of the ground broke off falling in there. The mast standing house failed to stand and fell down as well. It won't be long until every trace of the village is gone.
"its really scary these things..."

"They are," Jungkook said. "people fear that once it gets too big it will be the end of the mainland."

"i hope it will stop.. There has to be an explanation for this"

"probably." Jungkook turned back around and told Zuzu to lower and prepare for landing. Their first stop was in view, Kanupa.

Are they nearing this criminal? Or just tracing footseps that hase already been walked on?.....
