In honor of my besties birthday in a few days I decided to write chapter 60 as my other gift to her! happy early birthday fadedstyless  🫶🏻

Within 24 hours, Eloise and Luke were in a step down unit, no longer in insolation, as their conditions started to improve.

Eloise was feeling more like herself while Luke still seemed a bit unsure about what to feel, Eloise's theory was it was the illness talking and being crammed up in a boring white room wasn't doing him good either.

Luke and Eloise were gossip in their room, when there was sudden alarm bells going off across the hospital, causing the two of them to get startled by the people beginning to run down the hallway.

Eloise looked over at her dad who looked like he was spooked, "what's wrong dad?" She asked in a super concerned way.

"It's happening" "this happened before" "this is too familiar" like started mumbling under his breath. "What? I can't understand what you're saying?"

"This is like the dream or whatever I had a few days ago."

around five minutes later, Luke's phone rang, the caller id saying Sabrina's name, he answered right away. he was met by her having a panic attack on the other end, "what the fuck happened to Elliot?" She managed to scream out, Luke's eyes shooting wide open, "something happened to Elliot?" He asked, feeling this wave of deja vu over him.

"Apparently!!! I'm on my way!" Sabrina hung up cutting off Luke, him looking over at Eloise, "something happened to your brother that's why those alarms are going off. "What? Are you sure?"

"I'm positive, I've seen this all before"

"Dad you're freaking me out"

Eloise was beginning to have a panic attack, her breathing getting quicker and her face starting to go flushed.

As Luke watched nurses and doctors fly down the hall, the words "Elliot's gonna die" fell from his lips, Eloise growing more panicked. "What? Don't fucking saying that"

Luke gulped hard, pulling himself up, accidentally ripping the IV out of his arm from the way he go up. "I gotta go to him" he announced in a monotone voice, ignoring whatever Eloise was saying.

Within a blink of eye, Luke disappeared, leaving Eloise, who was trying to process everything. Luke was jogging down the hallway, staff weaving in and out of his path making way to the emergency room.

The atmosphere grew louder as he grew closer to the familiar set of doors, "ELLIOT!" He shouted people turning to look at him like he was some sort of mad man on the loose. "Elliot I'm coming to you!"

Luke came down the hallway which went into the ER entrance, people were already guarding the door turning people away. Luke jogged up to the security and staff standing there, he tried to grab onto the handle of the door. "Something happened to my son! Let me go in!"

"Yeah yeah, keep on walking" the security guard brushed him thinking he was some sort of attention seeker.

"It's true! My son Elliot's in there, he's gonna die" the security guard kept going back and fourth with him and kept getting him to back away from the doorway time and time again.

"ELLIOT! ELLIOT!" Luke kept yelling his sons voice just wanting someone to listen to him but people kept dismissing him until Dani and Jessie heard the commotion and came out of the doors, they seemed like they were trying to hide sadness behind their eyes.

"Luke it's Elliot" Dani interrupted, "I know! No ones letting me in"

"It's bad, Luke, like really bad" Jessie chimed in, trying to pre warn Luke. "I don't care let me see him, he might die"

"Luke, it's a lot. Like a lot, A LOT." Jessie emphasized her words, trying to get Luke to fully look into her eyes and understand the magnitude of the situation.

"I can handle it, you know my background."

Dani, went ahead and stopped Luke this time, placing her hand on his shoulder, "Luke, your son was in a horrible accident, this is something that shouldn't be dealt with alone"

Luke didn't respond to the statement, but he pushed passed his two colleagues proceeding to push open one of the double doors, walking into the closed off ER, dozens of people were running around and it was loud.

Luke saw all the doctors surrounding a gurney, he knew it had to be Elliot's, he went over, and started screaming Elliot's name, "ELLIOT! Elliot I'm here!"

He tried to get a glimpse of what happened and what was going on but he kept getting shielded.

"What happened? What's his vitals like? What treatments have you done?" He started throwing all these questions at the people in front of him, his words getting jumbled together because he started rambling Jessie and Dani now coming in the room behind him, seeing their colleague falling apart coming to his rescue, holding onto him.

"Let Luke see his son" Dani spoke up, using a stern tone, staff members beginning to listen to the request maneuvering just enough for Luke to finally see.

Then he saw the sight, the blood, the burns, the grayish skin, bruises —

"W-what h-happened t-to y-you?"

Suddenly his fatherly instincts and his paramedic instincts kicked in, and he tried to take over, doing what he can to try and help his son in any way. He tried grabbing syringes of medications, and tried to take hold of the respiratory care but the medical staff kept intervening, Luke emotions were high, as he took another syringe of pressors, in hopes that would raise Elliot's vitals.

"Luke you need to stop torturing yourself, let the others do what they need to do." Jessie firmly grabbed Luke's shoulder, her tone being as gentle as possible. "I can't I need to help, he's my son"

Luke broke away from Jessie's grip going over to the other side of the gurney, "let me ventilate, please" the head physician didn't want to argue and let Luke take over, Luke standing over his son, squeezing the bag valve mask repeatedly.

Jessie and Dani watched tensely for around ten minutes, the main doors getting busted open, Sabrina finally arriving, she was a crying mess already, people automatically moving out of her way not wanting to get pushed.

She saw everyone then saw Luke working on their son, "what happened?"

Everything from that point on was hazy, one moment, Luke was squeezing the bag valve mask, the next moment, he was getting pushed out of the way and everyone cleared the room except for him and Sabrina, who were now squeezing each others hands in attempt to support one another while wondering what was going to happen next.
