I Don't Think So

My thoughts halted to a dead end.

Andrea? An FBI officer from LA?

I played the footage again and again, not able to digest this big chunk of news.

I have always had Rick, Marie, Daisy, and Taylor in the LAPD squad...homicide department...but from the FBI department? I had never known any Andrea...

Taylor said as if reading my mind,

"I haven't known any Andrea either. This is a big surprise to me, and the fact that Donnor knows this. The announcement came the exact time you were about to look at that file."

I let the footage play out. As Taylor stated, the announcement had me look up. I stood up before I could glance at the file.

My thoughts hunched back on Donnor. Why would he not want me to know about Andrea being an FBI officer? And why was she allowed in his empire?

"Callie." Taylor snapped me out of my thoughts. I stood up, facing him.

He held my shoulders, holding me still with his warm eyes.

"This is getting out of hand. We have to act fast."

I exhaled a sigh.

"Yes, but what should we do? All the clues are so messed up. I don't see a pattern. I don't know anything about this advanced weapon. We don't have any clue about who could be having this weapon--"

I stopped, something else catching my mind astray.

I held Taylor's hand, my shoulders tightening.

"And Taylor!? What did Jasper do to you!? What was going on? I called you and he picked up your phone--"

He shushed me down, giving my hands a tight squeeze.

"Calm down. I am fine. Look? I am standing right here. Jasper had held me hostage. He was threatening and doing all kinds of stuff, he wanted me to reveal the plan we have been cooking up."

"Ahh...." I muttered under my breath, continuing,

"Taylor...he tricked me at the hideout in Hawaii... getting me into custody by Officer Wick..they found my Ireland Case and photograph you had given me at the start, blaming it on me."

His eyes narrowed.

"The case on Ireland? There is no such case file, Callie. Are you sure?"

My hands fell from his hold.

"Yes? But what do you mean? There of course is...I have solved cases in Ireland--"

"Yes Callie, but that comes under your case file, not separately. There is not any file that existed separate from the main one."

My chest tightened. Bricks of realization hit my head.

"And that photograph?"

He nodded.

"The photograph indicates the revival of one of the cases we thought wasn't connected and buried...the death of your father...Donnor stole it from you once he took you in."

I stammered,

"I--I mean it makes sense, doesn't it? Donnor has been behind this weapon...the secret...the file..."

Taylor raised his eyebrows, the corner of his lips pulling down.

The counter guy came in, interrupting our discussion.

"Your time is up, sir and ma'am. That would be close to 1.50 euros."

Taylor shot him a smile, handing the money from his wallet. But while he was doing so, a card fell from his hands.
