A thousand questions ran through my mind right then and there, halting to a single destination.
Am I in love?
My heart squeezed as soon as that question settled in the bottom of my stomach in a heavyweight.
It was weird --- to have that question pop right off your head when someone's death is being announced.
I sucked in the heaviness forming at the tip of my lips, praying all this would come to an end.
But I didn't know where and what the end was. I had no idea what I was doing.
I stared at Smith's body burning a hole in my chest.
Kay got up, his hands clenching. Anyone from a distance could tell that he was furious.
His eyes shot up at me, red and watery like a death sign.
I stood frozen, my mind tumbling in deep waters.
He charged at me, grabbing me by my shoulders.
"You..." He whispered in a pressed voice, sending shivers down my spine,
"You killed Smith! Callie! You are going to jail!"
His scream blasted off the small space, springing tears in my eyes.
He grabbed me by my arms, throwing me out of door.
"I don't want to see your face!"
He shut the door close in a bang, followed by dead silence. Soft winds tangled my skin as I blinked down at my injured leg.
I groaned, grabbing my legs like a tight rope, pulling them to get up, but they weren't moving.
Silence soon got replaced by a sound of soft sobbing. My ears perked up, sending goosebumps across my arms.
I stayed still, attaining full attention to the sobbing.
My heart sank as I glanced at the closed door, the sound getting higher.
I held my breath, my heart twisting as the sobbing continued, making my skin tense up.
It was Kay.
I got up, but lost balance.
"Ugh!" I exclaimed, falling into a warm, bedrock surface.
My arms interlocked, catching me off guard as my eyes split open.
"Are you okay?"
Donnor's icy cold eyes met mine, raising his eyebrows as it reeked further down at my state.
My breath fastened, glancing at me -- suddenly aware of how close he was to me, his chest pressing against the curves of my body.
I blinked away, pushing his chest.
"Ah...I am okay...just a bit of an injury-"
"Bit of? You are bleeding Callie. Let's take you to a hospital nearby."
He held my hand, his classic honey voice softening. I scratched my head, plastering a smile.
I walked a few steps alongside him, but soon tumbled to a stop, gasping for breath.
He glanced down at me with a look I couldn't quite understand. The warmth in his icy eyes was a new sight, making me all fuzzy inside. His jaw tightened.
I stood with my arms folded, bubbling an apology,
"I am sorry--"
His arms went around my waist, picking me up as if I was a feather. My hands interlocked around his chest without thinking.
