Questions flurried my mind like a hurricane who knows no bound or limit.
Money? Contract? Family? Property? Military agenda?
What could it be?
I looked him in the eye, confused. His eyes went back at me, and this one time, he stepped away from me, on his own.
I held my hands together, fidgeting with them as silence sunk between us.
He spoke up after what felt like forever, breaking the silence.
"I am behind the weapon, Callie. But i am not the one who has it, or I am that killer, in case you are wondering."
I looked up at him, corner of my lips stretching in confusion.
"And why would you think like that?"
"Uh..." His voice fainted as he picked it up again,
"Because I am a bad person?"
I rolled my eyes.
"That's a kind way to see it, Donnor. That's because you are a terrorist. You kill people."
I watched his reaction closely as I said that, trying to dissect the range of emotions on his rock solid face.
But as expected, his face remained emotionless on that one.
The only times I have seen some expression on his face of any sort is when it's related to me.
Hmm...maybe..
I came closer to him, making him face me with raised eyebrows. I held his arm, posing a small, sugary smile. His eyes went on my arm hold, then blinked back at me.
"What's up, Callie?"
I widened my smile, secretly hoping he wouldn't see through my plan as i muttered, swinging his arms like a child,
"You can take me on a date, actually."
"What?"
He asked, clinging closer.
I exhaled slowly, letting it out, loud and clear.
"You can take me on a date if you want."
As expected, his jaw moved. But that was it. That was all I got out of him.
How in the world will I ever figure out what he wants out of all till tommorow midnight?
"Ah...i don't think we have the time or place for that, Callie. Besides you must focus on your mission."
My insides were burning at his reply. I pouted.
"But i thought you wanted a date! Now you want me to focus on the mission!?"
He made a weird face, as if I am going crazy.
I guess I was...ever since I got dragged into this...
"Callie, it's a do or die, in an actual real sense. Of course everyone's life is much more important. What is wrong with you? How are we having this conversation?"
My expressions changed.
"And you didn't think about that when we were in the kitchen!?"
He slid his hands in his pocket.
"Well, i didn't receive Smith's message until now. So yeah?"
I rolled my eyes, refusing my defeat to get anything out of him.
"You are acting weird. All the stress getting to you again? I told you, relax. I can help you catch the killer."
My eyes shot up on the last bit of his reply. His eyes were dead cold, striking at me.
