My whole world fell apart right then and there.
Was i hearing it right? I rubbed my ears, but it didn't change anything. Next i opened and closed my eyes, but that didn't change anything either.
What was happening?
Was this real life?
He clicked his fingers infront of my eyes, making them flicker.
I opened my mouth to say something, but no words came out. It was clear as daylight.
I had frozen.
"Callie!? Say something!?"
He shook me by my shoulders, but I was far from ready to process what I had heard.
I turned away from him, my fingers fidgeting with nervousness.
"Ah..."
I blurted, but couldn't find the right continuation.
As his eyes graced through the wrinkling confusion surrendering my face, flashbacks washed over my emotions.
He, as if reading my mind, spoke up, holding onto me,
"Six years ago, Callie. That is when we first met. I didn't tell you my name. The room beside the interview office. I had went in there by mistake, you told me it's the one beside it. You got scared by some insect, remember?"
My thoughts raced alongside my heart in a racetrack.
Now that he explained it, I had a few set of blurry flashbacks hitting me in tidal waves.
"Ah....Don...I think I remember it too. You look different now. A lot different."
The corner of his lips pulled up in a small smile at my reply, not sure why. But I smiled back at him, getting somewhat flustered.
"It's all good..just wanted to let you know...you know..."
His words fainted as we got back to the subject. And how not, he had confessed something big.
Something utterly big. Something I couldn't believe. Something that still felt like a dream.
My lips pursed in. I hated to admit it, but i remembered a lot more than I was letting him on. I felt a lot more than I was letting him on as well.
I stood there with my arms folded, my face growing tense by the minute as silence kept trickling in like rain drops.
A noise broke the tension, followed by a shake that made me bump against him. I groaned as he wrapped me around his chest. We twirled in one corner.
"What's going on!? Earthquake!?" I muttered, glancing up at the trembling ceiling of the elevator with eyes wide open.
His eyes jumped on the door in one curt movement.
"I think someone is trying to get the door open, Callie."
I breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh, thank god. Finally."
He passed a quick smile, his eyes lingering on my hands grabbing his shirt.
I opened my mouth, pulling my hand away in hesitation.
"Oh, i am sorry...I...the elevator---"
I muttered, stepping back.
BAM!
Another noise blasted through, tumbling the whole elevator. I gasped in horror as Don held me closer to him, scooting me in one tight corner.
My heart paced in a rollercoaster with no sense of control but fear.
