I screamed in horror, my body paragliding out of control.

In the moment everything turned blank. Fear grappled my body from top to bottom, signalling the end.

And the only person who flashed in my mind was him.

I closed my eyes, awaiting my end.

Our end.

My legs slipped, my head about to hit the ground in any flashing second.

But a hold around my waist caught me off guard. My breath paused, realising I wasn't into the hole till now.

My eyes swung open, my breath speeding up.

It felt like my whole being has been brought back to life.

The hold went from my waist to my arm, holding me steady as I blinked at myself, standing alive and breathing.

Gio's brother stood in silence, glaring at the man standing behind me. Rest of the officers watched with their eyes glued.

My heart rate accelerated as I glanced at the man behind me, the man that has always lifted me up with a calming smile on his face, glancing at me with his icy eyes dressed with splashes of honey.

"Callie! Are you okay?"

He held both my arms in a restless whisper, his eyes lingering down my body. I wanted to nod, but my eyes couldn't leave his, the concern and care bubbling underneath the layers.

"You both! Shut the fuck up with this shitshow!"

He screamed, making me flinch. My whole body was shaking from the after shock of what had happened just now.

I was about to die.

I ran far away from the hole as much as possible, with screams and shouts roaring behind me, following me wherever I went.

"Stop!!" Gio's brother was following my trail, the sound of his feets scratching the ground. Behind him was Gio, running close behind. In the last, i could hear Don's faint shouts.

The officers were leaving, some of them hopping back to their cars. I couldn't tell what their plan was, but they were upto something.

I drew in a long breath. All I knew was I had to keep running.

"Stop! You dumb shit!"

Gio's brother cut through the wind, pumping my heart.

"Brother, get out of her way, she is my business." Gio's voice screeched behind him, making me feel disgusted.

"You both! Stop it!"

Don's sharp voice relieved my nerves, motivating me to keep up with my pace. Because the moment I stop, I know it's all over.

I kept running, not giving a damn about my aching legs and lungs.

"Keep running, Callie! Run!" I kept whispering to myself, not realising that I was reaching a high end wall, probably a barrier enclosing the whole field.

My nerves picked up if it wasn't already. My heart knew no limits. Even though the wind was tough, I could feel myself break into a pool of sweat.

I stopped in a halt, facing the Boulder Brothers closing in on me as my back pressed against the wall. Don stood behind them, staring at us both with nothing but helplessness shaping his forehead.

"Please...you want the weapon...it's in the hole...go get it..."

I begged, blinking back tears. All the energy accumulating my body broke into pieces. I felt numb and defeated.
