Every inch of my skin grew tense, eating me alive as i sat with head in hands, overthinking every single decision.

Everything that led me here.

The time when everything was fine.

"Ma'am you look pale."

Marie called out, sitting opposite to me in the food plaza of the bustling LA airport.

"It's nothing Marie..."

I snapped a bite of my sandwich, peeping at the other table. Rick and Daisy were done, waiting for us to finish.

"But you know you can tell me anything.."

"Marie..." I muttered under my breath, holding in a long exhale.

"Rick...Daisy....mom...I miss you guys..."

My voice cracked amidst Smith's shout.

"Stop muttering things to yourself Callie. You are doing the right thing. Remember....you were an officer first."

I looked up at his stoic face, showing no sign of doubt or distress. It was clear. He believed in this decision with all his heart.

I looked down at my lap, heart on the edge.

Do I believe in this?

After all that he has done for redemption? Does it outweigh his role in letting a terrorist escape, whatever might be the reason?

My breath grew hoarse, struggling to find an answer. I had this weird sinking feeling in my chest, prickling my nerves.

Why did it feel like I already knew the answer?

The van stopped abruptly, making my head bump against the front seat.

"Ugh!" I rubbed my head.

All these emotions and pressure was becoming too much for me to handle. It felt like I could crack any second in an outburst.

Smith and the head got out, sliding my side of the door.

Sighing, I got out as he closed the door shut. The head tapped my shoulders, making me jump.

"By the way, you still don't know my name. I am Kay."

"Okay...Sir..."

I barely let the words out. My whole body stood in a state of shock, struggling to process the drastic turn of events.

"Callie.."

Kay whispered, his voice slapping calm.

"I know it's a lot to take in, but trust us, it's for the better. It's for the better for everyone."

I blinked up at his face, his earlier void eyes shimmering in a new born energy. This was the first time I had seen something different since the time I had a talk with him.

He believed in this plan with all his heart. He knew it was the right thing to do.

I folded my arms, my stomach sinking deeper and deeper by the second. My jaws grew tense and palms became sweaty.

"Callie." Smith called out, signalling to enter the shaft situated beside a small house infront of us.

I half nodded, shooting him a small smile.

Silence followed me like a ghost as Smith slid open the shaft. I entered after Kay, my heart twisting.

"Here."

Smith stood facing a long drawn table, his eyes spanning on all the items kept on it.

I flickered at all the items, my heart racing as the realisation sank in.
