Chapter 71: Special Sessions

Sehki and Candy jumped out of his shadow once Lorena was practically alone.

"I could've handled it, but it'll get worse. He won't be able to hurt me physically, but he's got less physical ways to torture me," pointing to the Quilter app on her phone.

"It can't be that bad, right?"

In that second week, they noticed people were avoiding her, rivaling Candy's treatment in terms of social distancing. Sehki had checked the Quilter attack to see Taylor claiming he was looking for a new recruit, claiming his old one's skills were lacking.

Over the week, Lorena found herself getting snide remarks, rumors about her sleeping around, people throwing magic spells her training allowed her to shoot down, and was forced to stretch her neck to reach and make those attempted bullies flee before heading into the Shadowscald Woods, pressing her head against the wall.

Sehki's hand pulled it against the tree, and his shadow lifted her up for him to carry and lie down while taking her back to Erebus.

"I told you I'm fine, I knew I'd have to deal with this."

"What leader would I be if I let my lawyer, my new Phantom Paladin and my primary princess candidate endure."

"You're taking this role too seriously, but playing damsel is annoying," as they got back to Erebus. "I talked to Kayla, are you ready tonight?"

"Sure. Just need to make a call to put Taylor in his place."

That afternoon, Lorena and Kayla reunited during office hours, the former's face filled with depression and anxiety, the latter breaking her dismissal upon seeing her former inner circle member breathing heavily.

"Are you okay?"

"No, you said Coach Tychonis could help me out, right?"

"Well his methods are more for academics based-but," stopping as he opened the door.

"Oh, I'd usually take one at a time, but I can take two ladies at once," watching them walk in from behind, blind to the shadow beneath them.

"So ladies," leaving his computer in the room behind to rest them both, "how can I help you release that tension," approaching Kayla's neck while Lorena stopped his other hand, sniffing and bringing out her stress.

Sehki's shadow slid up the chair, pulling all but his legs up to investigate Tychonis' computer, searching around for any information.

His list of favorite students...and they're all women. Hold on, pulling a screen over with an incognito tab, clicking on an alternate email account, finding a list of students, each labeled under their own Zodiac.

Who is he sending this information to, pulling out his new phone: a text from Lorena to hurry, seeing her climb on top of their professor's lap, swiping his hair tentacles while bawling about her family abandoning her and being afraid of being blackmailed.

She's got her sister's skills, finding an image of the Herdsmen. That's the same guy who followed me. And that woman, scrolling in...she encountered the Herdsmen?

Kayla suddenly screamed. He grew alarmed, taking photos and trying to put back every screen when he found it, sliding out to see Lorena shielding her and Delta picking up Professor Tychonis.

"We professors shouldn't get blindsided like that."

"I could've handled a simple Constain."

"That wasn't an ordinary Void. What were you doing here to warrant such an attraction?"

"Just ensuring my student's private, emotional wellbeing. Are you accusing me of putting our students at risk when Shugoda's allowing a murderer to roam their streets for recruits?"

"Grudges aside, I'm certain someone will take care of that eventually. We need to guide our students to handle that than feasting off our fear. Ladies, ahem, students, you'll have to talk to him another time. Tychonis, you and I need to talk."

Outside, Lorena wiped off her "tears," pulling Kayla to the side.

"Just because I'm getting lust shamed doesn't mean you should let him do that to you. The Voids can feed off that too."

"But my grades-he's even talking with my other professors."

"Just be careful. Even if you cut ties with me, I'll find you justice if you need it," leaving with the shadow following her,

Back at the dorm, Sehki gasped.

"A Void in royal and regal clothing?"

"It seemed bizarre and rampaging, but it was more sane than Taylor's form. He didn't attack Delta at all but pushed Kayla and Coach like it was searching for something. But Tychonis was sending information?"

"To someone. But what did he mean about Shugoda letting the Herdsmen go free? I thought people were being recruited to fear him?"

"But if Shugoda chose not to arrest him, their ruler's subject to murder and death by inaction. Clients with their loved ones forced to run and hide," blowing hard, "don't deserve that."

"Like my brother."

They jumped at her arrival.

"S-sorry. But that's what led my family to leave Shugoda after we moved from Tellus. We traveled to different schools, but when I went to visit him, he fought to defend me."

"But how did he end up in jail?"

"He fought Prince Rigal. I remember he was around. I called him for help, but he didn't do anything to help?"

"Pause," crossing his hands. "Rigal...self-proclaimed Alpha Male, afraid? So your bro got mad and fought him. Who won?"

She squinted, only remembering Rigal was so pissed that he ordered her brother's arrest himself.

"He's going down. Do we have enough to pay his bail?"

Lorena opened up her laptop, bringing them to the accessible room she dubbed their research center, searching up the Trologyast Incarcerated Person Service for his name: Crevan Uyocron.

"Says his bail has been decreased: near parole for good behavior, but refused."

"Fine. We're getting him out this November."

"Really?"

"We've got the cash. I'll go to Shugoda, find Rigal's ex, search for the Herdsmen, and reunite you both. Plus, if he could make Rigal upset, he's gotta be skilled. Agreed?"

Lorena and Candy nodded. "Let's do it. So what do we do?"

"Step one, make Taylor suffer a bit more. Step two, we're going on that double date!"
