Sehki accepted how he started, an idiot who just found everything bizarre, knowing dead well he wanted to stay.
"Yeah, they're flawed, but so was I! I waltzed back in here thinking I could just be selfish and ignore how everyone felt. But I want to stay: they bullied me to near death, but I came out finding people that made me believe in this world and get stronger for them."
"Are you saying you care more about our kids than us?"
"Taylor got turned into a Void after you let him target all those people, Ainsley was nearly groomed by a professor you hired, Cluster took Rigal's girlfriend, and Xia's been locked out of the loop for all this. When you let my parents die, did you lose the love you had in raising your kids? Or are you so cruel, you'll turn on each other too?"
"We cared about your parents and our children," Demeter yelled, sobbing. "When we were given the report about Sybil and Quermas were devastated as well!"
"Ainsley and the others told me about their trauma. They wanted to find an outlet. I'm sorry for my role in that, but I couldn't let them drain other innocent people or strip them of who they are."
"You were the one who made my son become a Void?"
"Cluster did. I only stopped him from attacking the studio that was trying to make a heroine for your people to look up to! Whoever they are fed him to them to use his rage. The people who he tried to kill saved his life! And if word gets out they can get corrupted, how do you think the public will react?"
Maximilian's voice interrupted with a boom. "We won't let that happen!"
"Says the guy who let a serial killer roam around their city as a recruitment strategy! If those with the Bootes and Ursa StellArts are treated there, how bad are they used fighting the Voids elsewhere?"
Yun grinned. "Quite the argumentative one, aren't you. If you were able to free Taylor's control, that must mean your StellArt is a counter to the Voids, isn't it?"
"Do you know which one it is?"
"Part of our distrust stemmed from your father's lack of intel. His fights with Voids ended quicker than the usual folk and he kept hidden from all but your mother. The general public has no idea either."
"Where are their corpses?"
"Taken by a Void that was mutated from someone close to them. We've been trying to contact them, especially since your magic signature was there.
The one that went after me and Delta that one time...she wanted me to fight them?
"You said you were planning on leaving this world. Presumably back to where you were previously, correct?"
"I wanted to make you an offer. Give me Starlight to leave and return. If I'm forced to come back, I'll stay until the Voids are no longer a threat."
"If he leaves now, people will grow suspicious."
"But he confirmed this. We can let them know he's sent to a safe location."
"The less questions people have, the better."
"Where was this place you were sent to? One that could use our support, or a threat?"
Right...they have a reason for colonization, don't they. "Probably not a good idea. Magic doesn't work there, which is probably why you couldn't use the spirit magic to find my actual body. You'll just be human, and vulnerable to regular warfare."
Maximilian vetoed the risk while Jun nodded. The four of them garnered the Starlight, and Jun tossed him a small dragon sphere with a head shape.
"If you return for whatever reason, remember what happens between heir and lineage is ours to decide."
He groaned. "Fine, but three more questions."
"I'll allow it."
"Who gave you the alleged intel that condemned my parents to death? If anyone finds out the truth and they were innocent, you can easily put the blame on them?"
"A former colleague who got close to your family against our demands. Currently, they're an educator at Celestial University."
"What? Who?"
"Until they're proven innocent or guilty, that will remain confidential. Second?"
"Can you promise no harm will come to the Uyocron or Sanchez family? They're the main reason Taylor and Rigal were saved from the Void mutation and Herdsmen attack."
"Understood, Dryad, that should ease public dissent, correct?"
"Fine. I should thank you for retrieving my son."
"And last?"
"Find and stop Cluster. I thought he was on your payroll, but he's been around for each attack on your kids. He's the leader of the Astrovoids, and he's got people working with him on top of the people he's kidnapped."
Demeter and Dryad immediately agreed to it, Maximilian stayed quiet, and Jun nodded.
"We'll look into it."
He nodded and was allowed to leave via a Starlight portal.
A few days passed, and he took out the production crew, the Shadow Brawlers, Delta and Professor Scaldwave out to the Bistro for them to enjoy, the same day he was going to leave.
Benjin's workers were all starstruck.
Glances led to Madam and Tidal talking.
The Shadow Brawlers were one of the few who didn't get spiked.
Sehki let them know what happened during their talk with the Presidents.
Candy handed Sehki a gift, a set of clothes made by her for him and Flint.
Cree made a promise to lead House Erebus, leading to him and Lorena to debacle over who should be the leader.
The latter asked everyone to do their victory celebration. While people popped off their drinks, she snuck in a deep kiss between her and Sehki, breaking up with him.
"Huh?"
"For now. If you don't come back. But we'll find the Void who has your parents, Cluster, and put a stop to their plans."
He pulled her in. "You're the best girlfriend I've ever had."
He left on good terms with everyone, heading into the Shadowscald Woods, where Calypsa pulled him in.
