The mergeverse

New powers

As me and Moon continued to follow the pull they still had, we made sure to stay cautious, just in case. We didn't exactly know where we were going or what we'd actually find when we got to where the pull was. Eventually, we ended up at a house near the edge of the woods, kinda near where I had been when I was exploring. The house itself wasn't actually in the woods. It was more on the streets near it.

"Is this it?" I asked and Moon nodded, looking a bit nervous. "So.. what is this place?" We weren't in sight of the house, just in case again, but Moon had pointed it out. "It's my old house.. I'm guessing Mrs. Jane brought them back here in hopes of destroying them."

I sighed and looked over at the house. "Probably. We need to stop her before she can." Moon looked a bit worried. "But how am I gonna be any help with this? I'm not exactly gonna be very useful without Nightmare or Error.."

I felt bad for her. I knew that hopeless feeling all too well. That feeling that you aren't good enough without your counterparts. "Listen, do you trust me enough to handle it? At least enough to get the souls back? Cause I might have a plan, but I need you to trust me." Moon nodded, but still looked a bit uncertain. "Ok look, if we can both get in there, I can deal with Mrs. Jane while you find the souls."

"But what if she unmerges you as well? That won't end well for either of us if that happens." Moon seemed really worried still about all of this. "Listen, even if I get unmerged, I know my own strength, I'll still be able to handle her, I'm sure of it. But I doubt she'll be able to actually unmerge me. If she only has the machine to do so, then as long as I can get it away from her I'll be fine, and if I can't, oh well, I'll still be fine. Don't worry about me too much, 'kay? Worry about getting Nightmare and Error back."

Moon really didn't seem too convinced still, but was clearly trusting me enough to hope it will work out. We quickly continued to follow the pull Moon had, and got inside. Luckily, no one was right by the door. Moon continued to follow the pull and I made sure to stay by her side just in case we ran into Mrs. Jane or the other girl Moon had mentioned, Grace I think her name was.

We found the room that had them and just as Moon reached for it I pulled her back, sensing someone coming towards the room. Shit. We might've been caught. "Don't. Merge. Grab them, but do not merge." I whispered through gritted teeth. I watched as Moon grabbed them, holding them close to herself, but not actually merging.

I had unfortunately been right, because as soon as Moon had grabbed the two, a woman and younger girl walked in. I assumed this was Mrs. Jane and Grace, as I had never actually seen them before this. "Oh great, look who's decided to come back. Brought a friend this time huh?" As soon as I turned to face Mrs. Jane, she seemed a bit shocked that I wasn't human. She didn't seem afraid of me per se, more disgusted than anything.

"Oh. It's like you, huh? Another Vessel? How fun." She was standing in front of Grace, seemingly trying to protect her. I moved and stood next to Moon, shooting a glare at Mrs. Jane. "So. You're Jane, huh?" She seemed annoyed that I was talking to her. I watched as she decided to not answer, and instead whispered for Grace to leave the room.

Then I noticed the strange machine in her hand. I knew immediately that was what she used to unmerge Moon. She aimed it right at me, but I stood unmoving. "Guess I've gotta fix one more of you things now." I wasn't scared of her. I knew I should've been. But I just wasn't for some reason. I could here Killer and Horror trying to stop me from doing stupid, but I decided I wasn't gonna listen to them this time.

She pressed the button to the machine, setting it off, but I had luckily Moved and pushed moon out of the way as well so it wouldn't hit either of us. "Take their souls and go. Get somewhere safer and remerge. I can handle her for the time being." Moon tried to protest but I interrupted her. "Just go-!" I teleported Moon back to the castle, just as Jane pressed the button on the machine again, causing me to have to duck down to avoid it.

I summoned a knife, tossing it in her direction. It missed, but had slightly brushed her hand, causing her to panic a bit and drop the machine. I took this chance to slide over and grab it. However, I missed, and she got to it before I could. Shit shit shit shit I'm in a bad position for this right now.

I tried to get up and move away from her, but she kicked me to the ground. I felt something heavy against my back, and then suddenly, my sight got blocked by a bright light and I passed out.

...

And then suddenly I was in what looked like a void. I was just floating aimlessly through it. I was without Killer and Horror, and I could tell. I heard nothing in my mind but my own voice. I knew this wasn't real. I was still laying passed out on the floor of Moon's old house.

But I heard a voice. A very familiar one. "Hello again little one. I see you've grown quite a bit." I turned and was amazed by what I saw. It was another monster of some kind. She looked somewhat humanoid, but had demonlike horns and a tail. She had the regular two eyes, as well as a third one on her forehead. They were all completely white and looked like they were glowing a bit. There were also bright pink drips coming from her main two eyes. It felt like I was looking at a goddess of some kind. "Who.. who are you..?"

"You don't remember me dear? Ah, I suppose it has been some time. Come closer, would you? I'd like to check something." I moved closer, my body seeming to be more in control than my mind. She grabbed my hands, her touch gentle and caring. "Ah.. Your memories are all jumbled up. Let me refresh at least one of them.. So you remember who you're talking to."

She gently put a hand to my forehead, and I saw a glowing come from it. And then I remembered.

She was who I merged with when I was younger.

"Now.. I can see you're in a bit of a predicament right now. And I'd like to help you. I know we disconnected years ago, but if you let it happen, we can remerge. Just for now. I'll let you have the souls your body wants to be with after. But you and I both know you need my powers right now." I knew she was right, her powers were stronger than most monsters. That's why she was the only one of her kind, so they wouldn't have overthrown the other monsters. "Please. If it means I can help my friend, then yes. I want to merge again."

She held out a flower, the same one I remember from when I was little. "Take it. It will be back with you in the real world. Grab it and merge. I'll help from there.

Waking back up was as if someone had just pushed me back into reality after being in a different one for some time. I noticed the new pull. It was in my pocket. I reached in and grabbed out the flower, merging with a familiar friend after years apart. I could feel this new power running through my veins.

I felt like God.
