Moon had come home after a little while and based on how she was acting I guessed things were probably still a bit awkward between us. She had waved as she went upstairs, and I just waved back. Me and Miles had still been talking a bit, but eventually he had to go, so I was left being pretty bored. Y'know you could always let one of us take control again.
Last time I did that you idiots caused a mass murder literally right by my school. Not happening again. As nice as it'd be to get a break from being in control of my body, I wasn't in the mood to have to deal with the consequences that would lead to. I'll just go explore the universe a bit I guess. I haven't really gotten the chance to.
I decided I should probably not leave the woods too far, just due to my appearance and the fact I didn't know how people would react to a merged vessel. I got up and went outside, just starting to wander around. I didn't exactly know where I was going or what I'd find, but I didn't really care. I was just bored and needed something to do.
After a little while of walking, I noticed I reached the end of the woods. I couldn't help my curiosity and slightly peek out at the streets and such. It wasn't anything crazy, but it was obviously different. However, I didn't wanna be caught so I went back deeper into the woods, praying I had been hidden well enough that no one would have noticed me. Honestly even if I hadn't been careful enough, I didn't really care much. I doubted anyone would actually care much.
However, as I was leaving the area, I noticed some blood on a couple of the trees. Weird. I shook off the feeling that I should be worried about whatever that was from and continued walking.
At this point, I was slightly lost, but wasn't too worried, I could always teleport if I got too lost. I just kept walking hoping to find my way back. Unfortunately for me, this feeling of wandering with no idea of where I was headed felt all too familiar.
{???'s POV (3rd person)}
The boy felt lost. He couldn't remember how long he had been running. His legs had given out on him at one point. That hadn't stopped him from continuing to look. He just wanted his brother back. But he was gone now. There was nothing the boy could do.
He just kept walking. He knew he'd find something eventually. He had to. The woods couldn't go on forever. The figures had to have taken his brother somewhere. There was something. There had to be. Who even were the figures? They had white coats on. Thats all the boy remembered.
That's when he saw it. A big building. It was huge. The woods ended and there was a path leading to the strange building. That's when he noticed the figures again. Clearer this time. Scientists. They didn't have the boy's brother anymore, but he knew it was the same ones who took him.
The boy hid behind a tree, listening in to the scientists talking.
"Are you sure that was the right boy? That's the vessel?"
"Yes, I'm sure. It has to be. He's the older of the two."
"But are you sure it was the older?"
"Stop doubting me, would you? Even if it is the wrong one we can always find the little brat. He'll come looking for his brother. In the meantime, if that kid isn't the vessel, then we'll just use him as a test subject, we've been needing a new one anyways."
"Fine, but if we get in trouble for this I'm blaming you."
The boy knew they were looking for him. As much as he wanted his brother back, he couldn't risk his own life and safety. His brother was as good as dead by now anyways. Even if he wasn't now, those test's would do worse than kill him. They'd change him. The boy ran. He ran back to the clearing. He barely remembered how to get there but he ran. Ran until it physically hurt to.
He let his mindset believe his brother was dead. It was better than believing he'd be changed beyond recognition. It was better to believe he was dead.
{Dagger's POV (1st person)}
I must've zoned out or something while walking, because next thing I knew, I wasn't deep in the woods anymore. I was back at the edge of it. Nearly standing out in the open. Anyone could have seen me. I didn't even care at this point. I just kinda stood there, feeling the cold air rush by. It had gotten windy out. Perhaps my body had started following the wind. Whatever it was, something in my subconscious had wanted me to come back out here.
I didn't know what it was. But I decided that maybe I should walk around outside the woods instead. But I couldn't bring myself to do that either. So I just stood there. Observing. I let my mind wander back that memory I had.
My brother wasn't dead. I had been lying to myself and my mind had believed it. I couldn't believe myself. But in a way, the reasoning made sense. Believing he had been dead felt better than now knowing he wasn't. Knowing he was still out there. Changed.
{And boom, that's the end of that. Reminder that Moon and this au belongs to my friend @FanFicLover6982 and you should check out their book for some things to make more sense. Also I updated a couple of the chapters to have pictures so you could see what some of the characters look like. If you go back a couple to when Miles was first introduced, I'll be adding a picture of him there so yall can finally see him}
