Chapter 19

(Elizabeth)

I stared at Kathlyn. And it was as though I was staring directly into a mirror. The only difference between us was the fact that my eyes were blue and hers were brown. She was like my copy.

"And you are?" She asked me, seeming unfazed by our resemblence

"I am Elizabeth and my fiancé Anthony." I said to her and she smiled at us both.

"May I ask where did you get such strange clothes?" She aked Anthony.

"My mother made it. She was, being innovative." He said.

"Innovative?" She questioned.

"She was being creative." He said.

"Oh, I see."

"May I ask where are we?" I asked her and she stared at me.

"You're in Genova." She said with wide eyes.

"Italy?"

"Do you know another?" She asked in wonder.

"Can't say I do." I said.

"What year is it? My memory seems to be selective." Anthony said.

"It is 1456."

(Sebastian)

An explosion shook the castle and both Garret and I rushed to our feet. Anika ran into the throne room, her eyes wide with panic. I looked at her and then the three of us took off for the stairs. We ran with speed to the second floor where Anika left Elizabeth and her friends.

The door was melted off its hinges and we went into the room. Evangelia stood in her phoenix form to the side of the room and Kelly, I believe, was on her knees next to the blonde girl who lay on the charred carpet, completely still.

Neither Elizabeth nor her mate were in the room.

"What happened in here?" Anika asked walking toward the blonde girl.

"We were attacked." Kelly said and stood from the floor.

"Attacked?" I asked.

"An enchantress broke in."

"What was he here for?" I asked looking into the room.

"We don't know. Lia killed him before we could find out." She said and I glanced at the phoenix girl who had shifted back to her human form.

"He did put up a fight. But it was as though he wasn't trying." She said, looking into the distance.

"Where is Elizabeth?" Anika asked panicked.

"She is in the palace. I just told her to get out." Lia said.

"No she isn't. I can't feel her. Bas, I can't feel her angel." She said worry etched on her face.

"She has to be in the palace. She hasn't been gone fifteen minutes." Lia said looking into the room.

"And I'm telling you that she isn't. Open your senses and tell me if you feel her." Anika shouted. She was angry. I walked over to her and put my hand on her shoulder.

"Ani, you need yo relax." I told her. She glared at me and her wings erupted from her back.

"I will not calm down until Elizabeth is safe." She snapped and flew out the door amd down the hall. I raced after her until she came to a stop at one of the secret passages.

"She must have went down to the tunnel." I said but she shook her head.

"She pushed the wrong stone."

"What do you mean?" I asked her almost inaudibly.

"This tapestry has two stones. One that leads to the tunnels, on that side." She said pointing to te left of the tapestry. "And one that crosses time. There." She said and lifted the tapestry to point to a stone that was a bit more protduded than the others.

"Anika. What does that mean?" I asked.

"Elizabeth travelled through time."
