Chapter 17

"Hey!" I heard someone say from behind me.

I turned around and saw my friend Amanda standing behind me. Amanda and I have been friends for about 12 years now. We were so close that we even called each others parents mom and dad.

"Hey, Manda! I haven't seen you in so long!" I said pulling her into an embrace.

"Jess, it's been like 3 weeks since we last saw each other," she said giggling.

"That's a long time for us!" I said letting go of her. "So how was your summer vacation?" she asked. I had to decide whether or not I should tell her about Louis. I told her everything but we were in school right now, so many people could over hear us.

"It was very sad after you left," I said sticking out my bottom lip. I slammed my locker closed and started walking down the hallway with Amanda.

"What about the rest of the gang?" she asked concerned. The rest of the gang is what she used to describe my 3 other friends.

"They all left on vacay."

"Oh how sad. The last summer before grade 12 and you spent it by yourself."

"Well not exactly, I'll tell you later," I said quickly. She shot me a smile.

"Oh," she dragged out. I noticed her attention shift."Those are pretty earrings! Where did you get them?" she said, moving my hair to get a better look at my earrings.

"Thanks I got them from-Ow!" I screeched. She poked me right in the neck.

"You little slut!" she yelled, poking my neck more. I forgot about the sore, red marks Louis had left on my neck. I shushed her and pushed her to the side.

"I'm not a slut, ok? I didn't sleep with him or anything," I said quietly.

"Who was he? Was he hot?" she asked.

"We can't talk about it here, ok? Let's just say my brother wouldn't approve."

"Oh come on! Who's going to tell him?"

"You know he still has friends that go here. Not to mention my cousin goes here too and he will tell."

"Ok, ok," she agreed. She pinched my neck and laughed, so I hit her in the stomach lightly. We continued our way down the hallway.

Finally the bell for the end of fifth period rang. I walked back to my locker to get my stuff.

"So when we going to talk about this?" said Amanda as she came up to my locker.

"Give me a ride home and we can talk," I said, flashing her a smile.

"Sorry, I can't I have work right after school," she said pouting.

"Well I guess you'll just have to wait," I said smirking. I slammed my locker shut and started to walk away.

"Oh come on!" I heard her yell. I turned around and walked backwards down the hallway.

"It sucks to be you now doesn't it?" I yelled back. I watched her give me the finger, so I gave it right back and turned around. I walked down the staircase and outside to the courtyard in the front of the school. It was quiet there, making it easier to talk on my phone.

"Hey Todd can you come pick me up from school?" I asked. He agreed and then quickly hung up the phone.

"Hey," I heard come from behind. I turned around to notice a tall, muscular boy standing behind me. He was new to the school because I didn't recognize him. He looked quite intimidating.

"Hi," I said back, just trying to be nice. I had a really bad feeling about him. Something inside of me was telling me to run.

"I must say the girls at this school are cute but you, you are one of the hottest," he said with a smirk. I noticed him look my body over. I wondered if that pick up line worked on other girls.

"Um excuse me?" I said, not sure how to react.

"You heard what I said," he said. He moved closer, reaching his hand up and twisting a piece of my hair in his fingers. I swatted his hand down.

"Don't ever touch me again," I said in a harsh tone. an evil smile formed on his face.

"I'll see you around." He winked and then walked away. Why were the most jerky guys attracted to me? I sure hoped I wouldn't see him again. He seemed like one of those guys that didn't take no for an answer. I had to admit, I was kind of scared.
