Adam had to help me to the car because I was still feeling light headed. Louis' injured state made it difficult for him to walk, let alone help me walk also. Adam drove us home in Louis' car. He apparently only lived down the block from Louis, so it was possible for him to walk home. I laid down in the back seat of Louis' car. Louis would have sat in the back, but it was too painful for his weakened body to get in the back of his two door car. So instead he had to sit in the front in uncomfortable pain.
The ride was silent. No one wanted to discuss the events that took place tonight. But I knew on Monday I would have to face them again.
Adam took us to back to Louis house and helped us to the door before leaving. I closed the door locking it.
"Do you mind if I stay?" I asked. I watched Louis lean against the wall.
"I want you stay," he said reaching for my hand.
"Ok," I said pulling him down the hallway and then to the bedroom. He moaned and groaned as we did, him obviously in pain.
He sat down on the bed, well half sat and half fell.
"Shirt," I said, holding out my hands in front of him. He tried to take his shirt off but just ended up groaning in pain and then giving up all together. I stuck my hands up his shirt, guiding his arms out and pulling it over his head. I looked at his torso. Blue and purple bruises had already formed, leaving almost his entire torso covered. I quickly looked back at his face, which wasn't much better. He had numerous cuts and scrapes, his lip was busted, his eye was swollen and dried blood from a nose bleed he had. I gently tilted his face up towards mine.
"I'll clean that up for you. Just lay down and relax," I said. I left the room and scoured the bathroom for a washcloth. When I finally found one, I ran it under the hot water and took it back to Louis.
He was laying down on his back, his body stiff and stretched out. I walked over to him, and slowly sat on the edge of the bed. I leaned over him and gently dabbed his face with the washcloth, wiping away the blood and dirt. Every once in awhile he would clench his teeth and shut his eyes tight, showing me that he was in pain. I would apologize and stop, but he made me go on.
I finished cleaning up Louis face and also his chest and arms.
"I'm going to go get you some ice for... everything," I said standing up. I walked over to the kitchen, grabbing everything frozen object I could find. I grabbed all the ice cubes and bags of frozen vegetables in the freezer. I brought them back over to Louis, wrapping them in towels. I gently placed a bag of frozen peas on his stomach, a small bag of ice on his eye and another bag of ice on his lip.
"Ow," he muttered.
"Sorry," I said, stroking his head.
"Here, ice your cheek," he said pulling off the ice bag from his lip.
"No Louis, I'm fine," I said pushing his hand back.
"I don't want it to bruise," he insisted.
"Louis, it's fine. It didn't even hurt that bad. He hits like a girl," I said placing the bag back on his lip. He laughed.
"Ow, don't make me laugh, it hurts," he said.
"Sorry," I said as I leaned over and kissed his forehead. As I came back up his hand softly ran over my cheek, the one that Tyler hit. I looked in to his eyes and they screamed remorse.
"Stop it," I said grabbing his hand.
"Stop what?" he asked.
"Blaming yourself."
"It's my fault. I promised you that you would be safe, I promised you that I wouldn't let him hurt you. And I failed," he said. His eyes started to fill with tears but he didn't cry.
"Louis it's not your fault. Its not your fault that he grabbed me. It's not your fault that he hit me. Its not your fault that he grabbed me while you were on the ground. It's not your fault that he threatened you with my life. It's all Tyler's fault," I said.
"But if-"
"But what? But if you didn't stop fighting he would have strangled me. But if you wouldn't have stood up for me he would have... hurt me," I paused. What would have happened if Louis didn't throw that punch? "He would have left more emotional and physical scarring then a slap to the face," I said quietly. The out comes of tonight could have been a lot different if Louis wasn't there.
"Jess did he threaten to..." Louis choked on the last word. I tried to hold back the tears.
"Not exactly but it was implied," I said. I have no doubt in my mind that Tyler would rape me if he had the option. Which scared me more then anything. I felt a hot tear fun down my face. I quickly wiped it away and held them back. Louis stared at me in sadness.
"Jess, you don't always have to be so strong all the time," he said stroking my cheek. I let more tears fall down my face.
"Louis, I'm so scared," I sobbed. He reached up and wiped away my tears with his thumb.
"Jess, please don't cry. Everything will be alright. Monday at school, stay the entire day with Amanda and ask her in advance to drive you home. And then I think you should tell someone."
"Louis I can't tell anyone, I can't, it will just make it worse," I cried.
"But how is it ever going to get better?" I gently laid my head on Louis' chest and cried. He rubbed my back as sobbed. "Don't give up on me, ok?" Louis whispered in my ear.
I sat back up and wiped my face.
"I'm sorry. It's just late and I'm tired and today was just..."
"I know, babe, I know. Go get changed and come to bed. There is t-shirts in the top drawer," he said. I nodded and got up, walking to the dresser. I pulled out a plain grey over sized t-shirt. I turned away from Louis and quickly pulled off my shirt, slipping the other one on. I pulled off my pants kicking them to the side. I know I probably should have changed in the bathroom but I was tired, upset and angry. Plus it wasn't like he hasn't seen me half naked before.
"That was the highlight of my evening," I heard Louis say. I turned around and saw the smirk on his face. I walked over towards him. "You really know how to make me want you, don't you?"
"It's a gift," I said jokingly. I pulled off his bags of ice and vegetables quickly running them to the bathroom and throwing them in the sink. I came back to see Louis under the covers. I crawled underneath the blankets beside him.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, scooting closer to him.
"Better, now that your here. Thanks Jess," he said.
"I told you I'd take care of you," I said kissing his cheek.
"What was that? I want a proper kiss," he said, smirking. I leaned over and kissed his swollen lips. He smiled, him satisfied with his kiss. I laid back down and buried my face in the pillow.
"Why are you way over there? Come closer," he whined. I was just at arm's reach away from Louis. I shuffled a little closer, bringing my pillow with me.
"Come here," he begged, motioning with his arm to come cuddle up to him.
"I don't want to hurt you Louis," I replied.
"I can take it." I sighed and moved closer to him, softly laying my head on his shoulder and placing my arm across his stomach. I heard him let out a soft groan.
"Sorry," I said, kissing his neck.
"It's ok, being with you is worth the pain."
