"Todd turn around, I made a mistake!" I screamed.
I can fix this. It's not too late.
"What? Jess no," he replied.
"Please Todd please! Turn around! I shouldn't have said those things!" I sobbed. I yanked on his jacket pulling on his sleeve.
"Jess I wont-"
"Please! I need to tell him I love him!" I cut him off.
"I'm not-"
"Please Todd! Turn around. I need him and he needs me," I begged.
"Jess listen to me. I'm not turning around. I was there. I know you said those things for a reason and I know if I turn around you'll regret it later. You're just in shock right now. Just think it over before you do anything." He was right. I should wait a day, maybe when I didn't feel like I was going to pass out. Louis would still love me tomorrow right?
"Todd, I'm an idiot," I cried. I buried my face in his sleeve, squeezing his arm.
"No you're not Jess," he said in a soothing voice. His arm wrapped around me, pulling me closer. Some times Todd drove me crazy and pissed me off, but when I really needed him he was there for me, always. Which makes me feel worse for all the shit I put him through. I put Louis through shit also.... Wow I just ruin everybody's lives don't I? My parents probably blame me for ruining theirs too. I ruined my own. I can honestly say I hate my life. Louis was the only good and exciting thing in my life, and now he's gone.
I started to sob even harder now. The tears ran down Todd's jacket, the slippery material repelling them. "Jess you are going to be ok. I promise."
"I'm not! It hurts so bad, Todd," I sobbed.
"I know, I know. But it will be ok." The truck stopped and his arm shifted under me, him putting the truck in park.
"I want it to stop, make it stop!" I screamed.
"I can't make it stop Jess. Pain always goes away on it's own. Come let's get you to bed ok?" I nodded not being able to speak.
I tried to sit up but I was in so much pain. I cried out in pain as I did. Moving was almost impossible at this time. "Todd, I can't move," I groaned.
"Your pain killers are probably wearing off. I'll get you some when we get in," he told me. He came around to my side, opening the door for me. "Ok put your arm around my neck." This was hard to do with my cast but I still managed. He lifted me out of the truck closing the door with his hip. I gripped his jacket, resting my head against his shoulder. Todd always takes good care of me. Even when I was sick and my parents weren't home, he would come home at his lunch break and make me food or give me medicine. He became my parent when I was in need of one.
He opened the door, not even stopping to take his shoes off once he got in. I noticed my mother sitting on the couch, her arms and legs crossed. She stood up as soon as she saw me.
"Please don't tell her," I whispered in Todd's ear.
"Where have you been!? I have texted both of you and called you and all you send back is 'Don't worry everything is fine'. Obviously it's not fine! What happened to you?!" she yelled.
"Mom, she's in a lot of pain right now so if we could talk about this later..." Todd said calmly. He always kept his calm in these types of situations. But when he does get pushed over the edge you better run for your life.
"No we can talk about this now!" she yelled. The loud noise was hurting my head. "I have been worried sick about you two! And now you come home all bruised and broken!? How did this happen!?" My head felt like it could explode at any minute and for my sake I was wishing it did.
