"Math and Mondays," I sighed as I sat down from across Amanda in a desk.
"I know. Who invented math?" she asked.
"Who invented school on Mondays?" I replied. She laughed and opened her text book. I started to pull my stuff out of my bag. She leaned over the desk and motioned for me to do the same.
"I saw Tyler this morning in the office," she whispered. I dropped the textbook in my hand on the ground, it creating a loud noise. Everyone's eyes shifted to me but the only thing I could focus on is not passing out in my desk.
He was back. I knew this day would come but I just tried to push it out of my mind. Who knows what he would do to me now.
"What...." I trailed off. There was a sudden knock at the door and finally all eyes were off of me.
"Mr. Lawrence I am trying to teach of class!" the teacher scolded. This teacher is such a bitch.
"I know. I wouldn't interrupt you if it wasn't important. Could I see Jess for a minute please?" he asked. Why me? What could possibly have to say to me? All the eyes were back on me again.
"Can it wait?" she asked.
"No."
"Fine." I slowly got up unsure of what to do. I was afraid if I even made a noise while leaving the room she would throw a white board eraser at my head. I quietly made my way through the room trying to ignore the stares from my class mates.
"What's this about?" I asked as I got out into the hall.
"I think you know. Let's take a walk," he answered. It's about Tyler, I know. We walked silently down the hall ending up at his classroom. He opened the door letting me walk in before closing it. "Take a seat," he said motioning to a desk. I slowly sat down him sitting on the top of a nearby desk. I didn't like the way he was looking down on me. I felt like I was trouble or something.
"I want you to know that no matter what, you can always talk to me."
"I know Mr. L and thank you. Do you mind if I request something weird?" I asked.
"Ok..."
"Could you sit down in a chair?" He chuckled and slid down to the desk chair across from me.
"Sorry."
"It's fine."
"Tyler is back in school," he informed me.
"I heard," I replied picking at some leftover nail polish on my nails.
"He will be supervised for today but that's all I can guarantee." I had a feeling that Mr. L knew that Tyler was dangerous, especially to me. There was no way they could expel him though, unless he did something terribly bad. I'm not safe here and he knows that.
"I understand," I said quietly. Personally I don't know why we are talking. There's nothing he can do, Tyler has a mind of his own. He does what he wants no matter what the consequences.
"Did you tell your parents about what happened?" Tell my parents? I haven't seen my dad in weeks I only hear him come in late at night and leave early in the morning. My mother just locks herself in her room and never comes out. Why would I tell them? They don't know I exist.
"Ya," I said as confidently as I could. He saw right through me.
"You know I was very close with Todd and he talked to me about a lot of things. I know what goes on at home." How could he possibly know? Maybe he knows it from Todd's point of view but he doesn't know it from mine.
