His smile faded and my heart immediately started racing.
"About what?" he asked. How exactly am I supposed to word this? Now I see why Todd had such difficult spitting it out.
"It's about your ex girlfriend," I said. Ya that works. His hands dropped from my waist and I really just wanted to place them back where they were before. That look of anger that I know too well was appearing on his face.
"Todd told you didn't he?"
"Yes but-"
"Wow. He would say anything for us not to be together," he cut me off. He started to back away putting more space between us. "He probably told you of how much of an asshole and a fuck up I am and how you can do so much better! That I'm dangerous and I can't control my anger. Well maybe I'll do you a favor and just leave." That pretty much summed what Todd said. He started to moved forward pushing past me. I didn't think he would actually leave. He can't leave. No not this time.
"Louis, no, stop. Calm down," I said standing in front of him, placing my hands on his chest. All it took was a look for his face to soften. "I wanted to hear it from you." He took a deep breath before saying anything else.
"Can we go to your bedroom to talk?" he asked.
"Ya, ya of course." I grabbed his hand leading him to my bedroom at the end of the hall. I went in him following me and I shut the door even though that was against Todd's 'rules'.
He sat down on the end of my bed the same place Todd always sits. I sat down at the head of my bed tucking my feet underneath me.
He didn't say anything and I was hoping he would start this off instead of me asking.
"What...wh-what happened?" I stuttered.
"We were at a party and I was drinking..." Oh no. I don't think I'm ready for this. I wanted to tell him to stop talking and just forget I asked."And she disappeared for awhile, so I went to go look for her. I found her and she..." My mind instantly races to conclusions. She what? She cheated on him, passed out, left the party....what? "She was beaten up really badly. It was her ex boyfriend but everyone thought it was me because nobody seen it happen." I wanted to believe it, I did believe it. It felt like 95% of me believed him but there was still that piece that was telling me to be cautious. But then my mind cane in telling me to forget about that one stupid piece and be with him because that's what I want.
"Why did you break up? Why did you move back here?" I spoke up.
"She broke up with me because of the rumors. People didn't understand why she would get back together with a guy who beats up women. Eventually it just got her and we were just fighting all the time. I just didn't want to live in England anymore so I just moved back here. I like it here better anyways." Looking at the sadness on his face I felt bad for accusing him in the first place.
"That's terrible."
"Ya. I gave up on the whole girlfriend thing after that. I didn't liked being attached...until now." I got a little bit closer. I really just wanted to kiss his frown away. I felt this great relief in knowing the truth. Or what I thought was the truth. Maybe Amanda was right about me being biased... No she wasn't. Todd doesn't know shit, I know that for sure.
"How did Todd find out?" he asked.
"Adam told him."
"I don't know how Adam would know... It was probably Niall who told him the rumors one of the lasts times he was down here. He has a big mouth." I scooted closer to him resting my chin on his shoulder, my arm loosely around his waist. "So you still think I'm a monster?" he asked changing the subject.
