Cain's P.O.V
Hello, everyone. Enjoy reading, leave a comment, stay safe and until soon.
I decided to monitor Alexander for the rest of the class. He diligently took notes. The guy sighed when the science teacher declared that there would be a group project soon. I nudged Cliff and whispered, "Doesn't Thousand like the kids in this class?" Cliff frowned and asked, "What have you been up to, Cain? Concentrate on the class. I heard that this teacher is hard on his students." I gazed at Alexander, then shook my head. It seemed like I would have to talk to the guy myself.
The teacher asked Alexander to distribute some templates. There was a sweet fragrance coming from him. I couldn't help but remark, "You smell like flowers," when Alexander approached me. Alexander glared at me, then walked away. Cliff shook his head and uttered, "Why would you say that, Cain? His family owns a flower shop and a landscape business. Thousand was planting flowers in the backyard when I visited you last time. He told me that your family is one of their biggest clients." I had never seen Alexander in my life. I was too busy studying and training to enjoy the garden.
Alexander probably thought that I was mocking him. Alexander left the classroom in a hurry. I didn't see him for the rest of the week. My father demanded that I join him after school. I didn't want to anger the man, so I followed his orders. Alexander didn't come to class on Monday. I grinned when I saw him in the cafeteria on Thursday. The guy was with his friends. I couldn't approach him even if I wanted to. I quietly ate my lunch. Cliff was sitting next to me. He gazed at Arthur and said, "Guess what happened? Thousand confessed to Arthur again. He got sick when he got rejected. That's why he wasn't at school on Monday."
I sighed and asked, "What's the count now?" Cliff grabbed his phone and stated, "Let me check." He whistled and replied, "Nine hundred seventy-nine. Got to hand it to him. He is one persistent bastard." I had lost my appetite. I grabbed my tray and declared, "I'm leaving school early today. My father wants me to help him close a deal. I'll see you later." Cliff nodded and continued eating. I decided to visit the bathroom before departing. I heard people arguing in one of the stalls while I was washing my hands. I instantly recognized one of the voices. I frowned when Alexander asked, "Didn't I tell you not to spread rumors about me, Arthur? You made me look like a fool again."
Arthur chuckled and uttered, "See it as child's play, Alexander. Everyone will forget about the confessions after high school." Alexander kicked the door and yelled, "Stop spouting nonsense! You are not the one people ridicule every day. It's my last warning to you. I will tell everyone the truth if you don't stop spreading lies about me." I had heard enough. I knew something wasn't right when I heard about Alexander and Arthur. No one could confess to their crush so many times. Well, unless you don't mean it, of course.
I drove straight to my father's office. Everyone stood up to greet me when I walked into the building. I quickly walked to the elevator. I had never liked the attention. I changed into a suit, then joined my father. My father poured himself a glass of champagne after the meeting was over. He ruffled my hair and said, "I always knew you had a knack for business, Cain. I would have lost the deal if you weren't here. And rejoice, you have received another wedding proposal. I rejected it immediately, so don't worry." I ran my fingers through my hair and replied, "The Barton Company will be prosperous in the future. It's good that you approached them first, Dad, and thank you. I know my mate is out there." My father laughed and declared, "See what I mean. Maverick has all the leadership qualities, but the boy can't run a business to save his life. You inherited your grandmother's talents. The woman knew how to make a profit."
I was tired. I loosened my tie and asked, "Can I go home now, Dad? I have homework to finish." My father nodded, then handed me a file. He smiled and said, "Can you give this to your brother-in-law for me? He's at the hospital. He will know what to do with it." I didn't feel like changing my clothes. Amal owned a hospital. My mother took care of Ruel while he was at work. The hospital was always busy. Amal's assistant noticed me first. She greeted me and said, "Your brother-in-law is still in the operating room. Would you like to wait for him?" I looked at my watch and replied, "No, I'll see him at home. Can you give this to him?" I was about to hand the file to the assistant when Amal appeared. I greeted Amal and said, "You have worked hard, my dear brother-in-law."
Amal laughed and uttered, "Thank you, Cain. Can I have the file Dad has sent for me?" I nodded and handed Amal the file. I gazed at Amal and asked, "Is it about a new case?" Amal smiled and replied, "Yes. It's one of Dad's friends. You can go home now. See you tonight. Bye." I caught a whiff of a familiar scent while I was leaving. I instantly scanned my surroundings. I smiled when I saw Alexander. He was helping a man get out of a pickup truck. I wondered why I was so desperately seeking him. The week flew by without me getting a chance to talk to Alexander. Clifford had training on Monday morning. The science teacher was late. I decided to check the latest news on my phone.
I was startled when Alexander said, "Good morning." I looked around the room and noticed that someone had occupied Alexander's seat. I put my phone away and stated, "Good morning. How are you this morning?" I hadn't realized I was stuttering. Alexander frowned and asked, "What are you so nervous about?" I rubbed my face and replied, "It seems like I make a fool of myself every time I see you. Sorry about last time. I didn't mean to offend you." Alexander grabbed his notepad and stated, "It's all right. I have heard worse things."
I couldn't find my pencil case. Ruel had probably grabbed it from my bag to play with it. I cursed myself for not checking my bag in the morning. Alexander tapped my shoulder with his pen and uttered, "Here, I have extra. Or would you like a pencil?" I shook my head and replied, "No, it's good." I accidentally touched Alexander's finger while grabbing the pen. I almost lost my balance when someone said, "Finally." I turned to see where the voice was coming from. Alexander grabbed my arm and asked, "Hey, are you all right?" I gazed at Alexander's hand when the creature said, "He smells heavenly." I wanted to run out of the classroom, but my legs started shaking. I was slowly losing my mind. "Was my wolf lying dormant all this time?" I asked myself.
The teacher entered the room and yelled, "Everyone back to your seats!" Alexander grabbed his stuff and returned to his seat. The voice instantly disappeared. I didn't even dare to talk to my family about the incident. The head elder had confirmed that I was born wolf-less. I kept pondering about the matter the whole week. Maybe I was truly going crazy. Who knows? The football team had won their first game of the season. Andrew Bloom had organized a party at his house. Clifford asked me to be there. I wanted to see Alexander, so I went. The party was different this time.
Music was blasting through the speakers. I got a headache while listening to the screaming kids. I hadn't seen Alexander since I had arrived. My headache got worse suddenly. I bumped into someone while walking out of the house. A girl grabbed my hand and asked, "Would you like to dance with me, Cain?" The girl was an omega from our pack. Someone threw his arm around me and said, "Sorry, he is with me." The girl growled at Alexander and walked away. I started feeling better the moment Alexander touched me. Alexander dragged me out of the house and asked, "Didn't you notice your nose is bleeding? It's good that you are wearing black tonight. Stay here. I'll get you a clean towel." My wolf cried out when Alexander left. I couldn't take the pain anymore.
I kept mumbling, "It can't be true," while rubbing my forehead. I gasped when Alexander pushed my head back and said, "It has gotten worse. I'll take you to the hospital. Where is your car? I came with my friends." I handed Alexander my car key. The guy gazed at the key and asked, "Are you sure you won't get in trouble for letting me drive such an expensive car? I can borrow someone else's car if you don't mind." I had gotten my Nissan GT-R as a gift from my mother. I groaned in pain and stated, "No, take mine." Alexander grabbed my arm and said, "Okay, follow my lead." Alexander led me to the car.
He buckled my seatbelt and uttered, "Don't fall asleep, okay? We will be there in a few minutes." Alexander's phone kept ringing during the drive. He turned it off after a while. Alexander ran into the hospital when we arrived. He returned and said, "They don't believe that I've brought you here. I'll have to carry you there myself. Can you walk?" I nodded. Alexander helped me out of the car and led me to the entrance. He stroked my cheek and declared, "I'll be back in a minute."
My wolf hummed in satisfaction. Alexander parked the car and took me to the help desk. I suddenly heard Amal yell, "Oh my Lord! What happened to you, Cain?" I knew that Amal would panic when he saw me. I was suddenly put on a stretcher and carried away. I gazed at Alexander. I growled when I saw how bloody his white shirt was. My wolf whimpered and uttered, "No, my mate." I never wanted to meet Alexander in such a state. I lost consciousness before I could call out to him.
