Alex's P.O.V.

Cain didn't hesitate and brought me to a hotel. He knew I was going through an adrenaline rush. We took a shower and slept. We were too exhausted to do anything else. I hadn't slept so well in a while. We woke up early in the morning because it was a school day. The house was quiet when we got home. The nanny was in Eva's room. He almost lost his balance when Cain asked, "Did Eva bother you last night?" The nanny smiled and answered, "No, sir. She didn't even wake up once during the night. The boys went to bed early as well."

I had put a spell on the kids and my parents. It would be wearing off soon. I asked the nanny to leave us alone. Eva would be waking up soon. Cain threw his arm around me and yawned. I kissed my mate's cheek and said, "Go to bed. I'll take care of Eva." Cain hummed and left. He had a lot of meetings to attend in the afternoon. Eva woke up instantly. She attempted to cry. I picked up my daughter and stated, "Don't you dare make a ruckus. Your father needs his rest." Eva grabbed my finger and squealed.

I bathed Eva and fed her. I chuckled when I heard my mother call out to Adriel. The boy had trouble waking up in the morning. I sighed in relief when Cain yelled, "You better get out of bed before I get there, Adriel!" Ethan peeked into Eva's room and said, "Good morning, Papa." I asked Ethan to come in. Ethan caressed Eva's cheek and stated, "I have a math test today. I don't feel sure about taking it." I threw my arm around Ethan and said, "It's okay if you fail, sweetheart, but I know you will do good." Ethan grinned and ran out of the room. It was time to get ready for work. Cain left before us. I dropped the boys off at school and went to my office.

I had to wrap up some things in Indonesia. I managed to return home by dinnertime. Ethan was waiting for me in the living room. He squealed and yelled, "I got an A on my test, Papa!" I hugged Ethan and stated, "Good job, my boy. Take a deep breath before a test, and things will be alright." Adriel attacked me from behind and said, "I scored well too, Papa." I smiled when Cain hugged me from behind and declared, "I'm home, Alex." We had a quiet dinner with the family. I took a shower after putting the kids to bed. Cain was on a conference call. I smirked when he mind-linked me and said, "Let's go out. Theon needs to let out some steam."

I waited for Cain to finish his call. I almost fell asleep while waiting. I smiled when Cain kissed my cheek and said, "Sorry for the wait, darling." I pulled Cain closer and kissed him passionately. Cain hummed in satisfaction. I gazed into Cain's eyes and asked, "Where would you like to go?" Cain smiled and closed his eyes. I chuckled when we ended up at his brother's pack. I had always felt at ease in the pack's forest. Cain changed his form and uttered, "I want to run freely. Follow me." Cain's wolf form was a sight to see. I ran my fingers through Cain's thick fur and replied, "Okay, take the lead." Cain started running instantly. I did my best to keep up with him. I was surprised when Cain led me to where the tragedy happened.

Cain changed his form and uttered, "Don't worry. I brought you here to make new memories." I grabbed Cain's hand and said, "I understand. This place is still beautiful. We should bring the kids here to play." Cain and I sat on the grass and gazed at the sky. I sighed and stated, "We are finally free." Cain pulled me into his arms and hugged me tightly. He kissed me intensely and declared, "Yes, it was a long time coming. Mitchell played us dirty by tying us down with a promise." I gazed into Cain's eyes and asked, "What will you do about the elections?" Cain laughed and replied, "You already know my answer, Alex." I cupped Cain's face and asked, "Did Adriel convince you to participate, Cain? I don't know why the boy wants to show off. Don't mind him." Cain kissed my temple and said, "Don't act like you didn't know I would be the President again."

Cain was right. I had seen our future. He would win the next term. I hugged Cain and said, "You are the best, Cain. I will support you from the shadows." Cain pinched my cheek and uttered, "What are you talking about? We will get married before my next term starts." I kissed Cain passionately and gazed into his eyes. Cain chuckled when I said, "I should start planning a wedding then." Cain and I returned home when it started raining. It was cold, so I asked Cain to grab another blanket from the closet.

Cain groaned when a box fell on his feet. He gathered the box's contents and asked, "Why are these old shoes in the box?" I went to see what Cain was talking about. I gasped when I recognized Ethan's treasure box. Cain examined the shoes and uttered, "Wait, I recognized these shoes. I gifted them to Ethan when he was three. I didn't know the size of the boy's feet and asked my assistant to choose a random one. I was angry at my mother because she forced me to buy the boy a present. Why do you think Ethan kept them?"

I kissed Cain's temple and asked, "Why do you think?" Tears started rolling down Cain's cheek. Cain threw his arm around me and uttered, "I was such a jerk to Ethan in the past." I hugged my mate tightly and said, "It's alright, Cain. You have given the boy nothing but love since you adopted him." We put the treasure box away and went to bed. Cain wasn't in the room when I woke up in the morning. I smiled when I saw him playing with the kids on the patio. He looked gorgeous in his white tank top and pajama pants. I leaned against the door and thought, "I have fallen in love all over again."
