Alex's P.O.V

I decided to speed up the search process for my uncle's enemy. A month flew by without me getting a hint of where the man was. It was like the man had disappeared. Mitchell was of no help either. His family's death anniversary was coming up. The man liked to spend time alone on that day. The boys had made many friends at their new school. I was happy that Ethan had finally found a place where he felt safe. The principal of the boy's previous school got fired. Cain had filed a complaint against him. I was low-key enjoying the quiet time.

I had just returned from my checkup when Ethan approached me. He gazed at my stomach and said, "My shoes don't fit, Papa. Can you buy me new ones?" As if on a cue, Adriel appeared. He grabbed his brother's hand and uttered, "I joined the soccer club, so I need new soccer cleats." My mother was in the corridor. She ruffled the boy's hair and asked, "Why didn't you guys tell me earlier about it?" Adriel smirked and replied, "Because we want to go out with Papa." Cain had returned home. He chuckled and asked, "And what about me then? Don't you guys want to spend time with me?"

The boys tackled Cain to the floor and yelled, "Daddy!" I shook my head while looking at the kids. They sure missed their father a lot. My father laughed and uttered, "Why don't we go shopping together? I could use new pants." The boys squealed when my mother yelled, "Dinner's ready! Let's eat first!" Cain smiled while looking at the boys and stated, "I can't get enough of this." He hugged me and asked, "Did you talk to your mother?" I cupped Cain's face and kissed him passionately. Cain smirked and uttered, "Are you afraid to talk to her?" I pinched Cain's cheek and replied, "I told my parents I would hate them forever. I'm ashamed of myself now. I shouldn't have acted like a brat."

Cain grabbed my hand and uttered, "We can't change the fact that she helped you deliver a healthy baby boy seven years ago, Alex. Tell her about your condition. I'm sure she'll know what to do." I sighed while rubbing my face against Cain's chest. The doctor told us that the baby needed more nutrients to grow. He didn't like the fact I skipped meals to win time. We had an early dinner that night. We went shopping right after. Cain had to attend a meeting, so he left. It was Friday night, and the shop was busy. My parents went to the clothes store next door while I looked for shoes for the boys.

After searching for a while, we finally got the right size shoes for the boys. I decided to help Ethan first. The boy giggled when I asked, "How long have you been wearing these shoes, baby boy? Look how tattered they are on the inside." Ethan grabbed the shoes and replied, "Daddy gave me these on my fourth birthday. He doesn't remember it, but I do. Can I keep them, Papa?" I kissed Ethan's cheek and said, "How thoughtful of you, little pup. I'll buy you a wooden box. You can keep all your treasures in it." Ethan hugged me and yelled, "Thank you, Papa." The new shoes looked great on Ethan. I stroked the boy's head and asked, "Are you happy, Ethan?" Ethan grabbed my hand and replied, "Yes, Papa."

Adriel had met a friend. The other boy was looking for soccer boots as well. Ethan gasped when he recognized the boy. He waved at the boy and yelled, "Hi, Levi!" Adriel grabbed the boy's arm and dragged him to us. The boy smiled sheepishly and uttered, "Good evening, Mr. Haile. I'm Levi Smith. Adriel and I are teammates. I hope you are having a great night." I gazed at the boy and stated, "Hello, Levi. You have great manners. Where are your parents?" Levi looked around and replied, "There they are, sir. My little sister is with them as well." I was surprised to see Andrew Bloom and Liam Smith. My dark past flashed into my mind.

Adriel grabbed my sleeve and asked, "Are you alright, Papa?" I pinched my son's cheek and replied, "Yes, I'm fine. Why don't you try on your shoes so I can pay? It's getting late. Your dad will be home soon." "Who would have thought that Liam would end up with Andrew?" I thought while handing my debit card to the cashier. My parents were waiting for us in front of the shop. The boys ran to them. My parents hugged the boys and led them to the exit. I was about to start my car when someone knocked on the window. I had already predicted it and wanted to leave immediately. My father groaned and asked, "Do you know him, Alex?" I sighed and replied, "Yes, It's Liam." My mother gasped and uttered, "What? I heard he was living in Germany. Wow, he has changed so much?"

I opened the window and asked, "What can I do for you, sir?" Liam laughed and asked, "Didn't you recognize me, Alex?" I didn't want anything to do with Liam and Andrew, even if they weren't a threat to me. Liam grabbed my shoulder and asked, "How have you been, my friend? I missed you so much." I masked my powers and uttered, "Hello, Liam. It's nice to see you. Can you move out of the way? My kids have fallen asleep. I have to take them home." Liam peeked into the car and said, "Oh, right. Sorry to disturb you. Adriel and Levi are classmates as well. We will be seeing more of each other in the future. Here is my card. Call me. We have a lot of catching up to do."

I grabbed the card and said, "Sure. Have a great night." I used a spell to burn the card. My father huffed and asked, "Why didn't you tell him who you are, Alex?" I chuckled and replied, "It's alright, Dad. I won't see him again." Cain was waiting for us by the door. He carried the boys inside. We put everything away and went to bed. I couldn't sleep. Cain threw his arm around me and asked, "What's wrong?" I sighed and replied, "I met Liam today. I can't get him out of my head. Did you know that he was married to Andrew?" Cain shook his head and answered, "I haven't seen anyone from that Godforsaken pack in years. Did he say something to you?"

I gazed into Cain's eyes and replied, "No. It's just that I hadn't expected to see him. He was the only one who supported me throughout the whole ordeal. Maybe I'm being too cruel." Cain kissed me passionately and said, "I should be the last person to say this, but don't push good friends away." I laughed and uttered, "You are right. You have no friends." Cain climbed on top of me and began kissing all over. I couldn't help but laugh when he asked, "Are you making fun of me, my dear Alex?" Cain was about to undress me when Adriel called out to him. He kissed me and said before leaving, "Sleep, we will continue this another time." I nodded and closed my eyes. Maybe Cain was right. Who doesn't need good people in their life?

I woke up late in the morning. My mother was reading Ethan a story on the patio. She greeted me and said, "Cain offered to order breakfast this morning. It will be here soon." My father was busy planting flowers with Adriel. The boy loved outdoor activities. I gazed at my mother and said, "I need to talk to you about something, Mom." My mother patted Ethan's back and uttered, "Go to your grandfather, pup. I'll read you another exciting story tonight." Ethan jumped off the bench and ran to my father. My mother moved closer and asked, "Is everything alright, Alex?" I rubbed my face and replied, "The obstetrician told me yesterday I need a better meal plan. The baby isn't healthy. I don't know what to do about it. Can you help me?"

My mother grabbed my hand and said, "I'll make sure you eat on time from now on, Alex. Don't worry. I'll deliver the food myself. The baby will be healthy in no time." I hugged my mother and uttered, "Thank you, Mom." Cain had returned. He handed me a paper bag and declared, "You can start by eating an egg wrap." My mother laughed and yelled, "Let's wash up everybody! The food is here!" Adriel and Ethan kept chatting during breakfast. It reminded me of how I used to be. I looked for Liam's number and called him in the afternoon. The guy picked up instantly. Liam gasped when he heard my voice. I took a deep breath and said, "I would like to meet you, Liam, but you need to know something about me first."
