Cain's P.O.V

I had been traveling all week with Flynn and my party members. We were preparing for the next election. I had already decided not to participate, but we hadn't found a candidate to replace me yet. I had just returned from lunch when I got a call from the President of Madagascar. The guy was looking for help. A gang of shape-shifters had taken over some inhabitant's homes. President Andre knew I was the alpha king's brother. I wondered why he hadn't contacted my brother himself.

I promised to call the man back and went on with my business. I decided to see Maverick in the evening. My brother was lying on a hill. I changed my form and joined him. Theon hummed when he felt the wind and the grass under his feet. Maverick chuckled and uttered, "It's good to smell the grass, huh, Theon? Cain should let you out more often." Theon smirked and replied, "Leave me be. I like my peace and tranquility." I sighed and asked, "Do you have beef with President Andre?" Maverick gazed at the sky and said, "It looks like it's about to rain. Andre and I argued about supernatural creatures' housing when he was elected. He said there was no room for them in his country. Is there something wrong?"

I shook my head and replied, "Don't act like you don't know what's happening there. Knowing you, you probably ignored the guy's calls. I promised to help the guy. Can you take care of it even if this is his fault?" Maverick laughed and declared, "You are such a good President, Cain. You think about everyone. I hope you participate again. We could do so much together." I huffed and stood up. It was time to go home. Maverick stretched his body and added, "Think about it carefully, Cain. You might not get a chance like this again." I had heard enough. I changed my form and said, "I became the President to take revenge on our parents, Maverick. My children are growing up. I want to be there for them when they need me."

Maverick also changed his form. He sighed and asked, "Haven't you been doing a great job as a father until now? What are you afraid of? You have a powerful mate who supports you. I want nothing more for you than to excel at what you do." I ran my fingers through my hair and uttered, "This is going nowhere. I'll see you soon." I left before our argument got heated. Alex was in Eva's room when I got home. The boys were already sleeping.

Adriel had kicked off his blanket again. I tucked him in and went to see Alex. Alex smiled when I hugged him from behind. He leaned into my chest and asked, "What happened?" I kissed Alex's neck and replied, "You already know." Alex chuckled and declared, "I agree with Maverick. You are good at what you do. You check on the kids more than I do. I'll stand by you no matter what you decide."

Eva opened her eyes and gazed at me. Alex chuckled and said, "It looks like she sensed you. Eva is such a Daddy's girl." I picked up my daughter to rock her back to sleep. I kissed Eva's cheek when she grabbed my thumb. Alex and I spent some time in Eva's room and then went to bed. It was hectic in the morning, like always. It was Friday, and Adriel had a soccer competition. I promised to watch his game. I disguised myself when it was time for the match.

The small stadium was full of people. I wondered why so many people were interested in a kid's game. I groaned when I saw Arthur and his entourage. It seemed like Liam had invited his workers to the match. They were holding banners with his son's name on them. Ethan recognized me instantly. He ran to me and grabbed my hand. I ruffled Ethan's hair when he said, "Come, Daddy. I reserved a seat for you."

My father-in-law handed me a cold soda and said, "Alex will be here in a minute. His assistant summoned him for an urgent matter." My mother-in-law was holding Eva. The baby started cooing when she saw me. Anna handed me the baby and said, "Here you go. Your precious little princess needs you." Alex arrived just in time. He pulled Ethan onto his lap and asked, "What did I miss?" I kissed my mate's cheek and replied, "They are still warming up, so you didn't miss anything." Ethan couldn't sit still when the match began. He screamed his brother's name every time he got the ball.

I was surprised to see how talented Adriel was. He helped Liam's son score the first goal, and Arthur's entourage went wild. I quietly watched the boys chase the ball. Ethan squealed when Adriel scored the last goal. The crowd cheered when the match finished. Adriel ran toward us and yelled, "We won!" I crouched down and hugged my son. Adriel squealed when I uttered, "You were great, son. Keep it up." Alex congratulated Adriel and said, "Go grab your stuff. We will eat out tonight." Liam approached the parents of the players while we were waiting. He offered to treat the team to a meal. We weren't interested, so we left.

We went to a high-end restaurant to have dinner. The boys couldn't stop talking about the match. We went to bed early that night. I had a busy schedule the next day. I was going through my mail when I discovered a letter from my mother. She was asking me when she could see the boys. I sighed while leaning back into my chair. It was best to handle the matter quickly. I went home in the afternoon to have lunch. Alex was in the garden with the kids. He was busy chasing after Adriel. I caught my eldest son and asked, "What did you do, Adriel?" Adriel laughed and replied, "I didn't do my homework properly. I'm sorry." I handed Adriel to Alex and uttered, "Punish him appropriately, my lord."

Alex dragged Adriel inside and said, "You will stay inside until you finish your schoolwork." Adriel tried to protest but stopped when he saw Alex's angry face. I couldn't help but laugh. Alex glared at me and uttered, "Adriel is a rebel. I swear." I hugged Alex and stated, "He'll change once he starts training. Don't worry." Alex cupped my face and gazed into my eyes. He kissed me passionately and said, "Let's go on a date tomorrow. We haven't spent time together since Eva's birth." I smirked and asked, "Oh. You miss me that much, huh?" Alex pinched my cheek and replied, "Yeah. I wish we were attached to the hip."

I suddenly remembered my mother. I kissed Alex softly and said, "I want to take the kids to see my mother tomorrow. What do you think about it?" Alex gazed at Ethan and Eva. He contemplated and answered, "Alright, but I'll join you guys." It was soon Sunday. The nanny got the kids ready in the afternoon. My in-laws joined us as well. I didn't want people to gossip. I disguised myself when we reached the prison.

My mother was waiting for us in the private garden. Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw the whole gang. Ethan hesitated when my mother beckoned him. Anna stroked Ethan's head and said, "Go ahead, darling. We will be right here." Ethan ran to my mother and hugged her. My mother smiled when Ethan began crying. She kissed the boy's head and uttered, "I don't deserve your love, my child." My mother didn't know how right she was about that.

My in-laws introduced Eva and Adriel to my mother. Alex and I quietly watched the scene unfold. My mother gazed at me and uttered, "You became a father of three in such a short time, son. I'm so proud of you." I glared at my mother and asked, "Aren't you forgetting something, mother?" My mother clutched the hem of her shirt and said, "I'm sorry for making your life miserable, Alexander." Alex didn't respond. I didn't blame him. The boys were clinging to my in-laws.

I could sense that my mother was jealous. She sighed and uttered, "I wanted to see you guys because I have something to give you. I saved up money for all my grandchildren. I don't have long to live. I asked my lawyer to get the paperwork ready. Please check them carefully when you receive the documents." Alex changed his form and glared at my mother. My mother began shaking in fear. She clutched her hair and asked, "You are the head enforcer?" I masked us so the boys couldn't see us.

Alex ignored my mother's question. He gazed into my mother's eyes and said, "Our children don't need your money. Cain and I have worked hard to give them a comfortable life. You have done what you could to get your way. Keep your cursed wealth." My mother gasped when Alex uttered, "Visiting hours are over. Let's go, kids." Ethan bid my mother farewell and then hugged my father-in-law's leg. I smiled when my mother began crying. I had no feelings for her. "She made me what I am today," I thought. We went home and had a quiet evening with the kids. It was like nothing had happened.
