Chapter 12. Heart to heart Part 2

Cain's P.O.V

Alex woke up right after me. He looked at me in shock and uttered, "Oh my God. What have we done? It was good, but we shouldn't have gone so far. My parents are going to kill me." I tried to calm Alex down when he started trembling. Alex pushed my hand away and said, "I'm sorry, Cain. I need some time to collect my thoughts." I rubbed Alex's back and replied, "It's okay. Take your time." Alex sighed suddenly and yelled, "It's no use crying over spilled milk. I'll have to pay for my mistakes!" I kissed Alex's temple and declared, "What's wrong with you, Alex? We have done nothing wrong."

Alex cupped my face and kissed me passionately. He gazed into my eyes and said, "You are right, Cain. We shouldn't be afraid." Alex's phone started ringing suddenly. He grabbed his phone from the nightstand to check the caller ID. Alex answered the phone and whispered, "It's my mother." I let Alex talk to his parents in peace. I took a shower while Alex was busy. Alex was lying on the floor when I returned. I ran to help him up. Alex groaned and uttered, "You've ruined my back, Cain. I can't walk."

I chuckled and said, "Come on. I'll carry you to the bathroom." I put Alex in the bathtub and opened the faucet. Alex looked at me in a daze. He stroked my cheek and uttered, "Do you regret sleeping with me, Cain?" I wondered why Alex was asking me this. I kissed Alex intensely and replied, "No. I would never. I love you too much to think so." Alex laid down in the tub and declared, "Good. That is all I wanted to hear." I left the room to buy ointments and painkillers for Alex. Alex was having breakfast when I returned. He smiled and stated, "I ordered your favorite dish. Come eat."

I joined Alex and asked, "And how do you know what I like to eat?" Alex laughed and replied, "It's your mom. She never stops gushing about you." I kissed Alex's cheek and grabbed a spoon. Alex and I talked about school while eating. I helped him apply the ointment. I was glad that he wasn't shy about it. I dropped Alex off at noon. My father summoned me when I reached home. I groaned when he asked me to attend an online meeting. I was exhausted and wanted to sleep. I could hardly keep my eyes open during the session. My father could sense my discomfort. He glared at me and growled, "Go to bed. I'll talk to you later."

I slept till late. My mother barged into my room at seven pm. She threw a towel at me and said, "Get ready. The head elder decided to make a surprise visit. And guess who he brought with him." My eyes widened in shock when I remembered Elder Ezra had found me a mate. "It just had to happen today, huh?" I thought. I jumped off the bed and growled, "I won't meet them." My mother glared at me and stated, "You have to convey your feelings to the Elder. He will otherwise never stop bringing people over." My mother was right. I needed to put a stop to the Elder's shenanigans. I took a shower and went downstairs. My eyes fell on the guy playing with Ruel first.

I knew the omega. We were in a class together at my previous school. Soren and I hadn't talked much at school. He was a beautiful and caring boy, but I had never cared for him. Soren smiled and uttered, "Good evening, Cain." I greeted Soren and asked, "Where are the adults?" Soren picked up Ruel and replied, "They are in your father's study." I grabbed Ruel and stated, "Can you wait here a minute? I'll be right back." Soren nodded and walked in the direction of the garden. I asked Ruel's nanny to look after him.

Laughter was coming from my father's study. Theon urged me to hurry up. He wanted to tell the world how much he loved Alex, but I had to be careful. I didn't want to put Alex's life in danger. I opened the door and said, "Good evening, Elder Ezra. I have already found my mate. You can stop coupling me with people I don't like from now on." Elder Ezra gasped and asked, "But how could that have happened? I still don't see anyone in your future." I frowned and replied, "Well. Let me worry about that." I wanted to see Alex. His scent still lingered in the air around me. Alex was in the shower when I texted him. He agreed to meet me outside. Alex jogged to my car after a while. He got inside and asked, "Is everything alright, Cain?"

I rubbed my face in frustration and uttered, "Yeah, it's all good now. How are you doing? Has the pain subsided?" Alex stroked my head and replied, "Worry about yourself first, darling. It seems like the world is out to get you." I laced my fingers through Alex's and declared, "Nothing can hurt me as long as you are by my side." Alex kissed my hand and uttered, "I want you to listen carefully to me, Cain. I like you, but I still have doubts in my mind. I would love to stay friends with you even if I'm not your mate, but I know werewolves. They reject people without thinking. I don't want to stand in the corner and admire you and your mate. So I'll leave after your birthday."

Theon got angry at Alex. He was tired of hearing the same story again and again. He growled, "Watch what you say!" and grabbed Alex's collar. Alex winced when I bit his neck. Alex's blood was delicious. My mate pushed me away before I could mark him. Alex gazed into the front mirror and asked, "Are you crazy, Cain? What will people say if they see a mark on my neck?" I watched Alex use a spell to get rid of the bite. We were startled when Alex's father knocked on the window. Mr. Haile peeked into the car and said, "I thought you weren't feeling well, Alex? What are you doing here?" I greeted Alex's father and said, "We were just talking, sir. I'm about to leave now. Have a great night."

Alex quickly kissed my cheek and uttered, "We will talk about this later. Good night." I smiled when I received a good morning text from Alex on Sunday. We agreed to go to school together the next day. I lost my mind when I saw Soren standing by my locker. Alex had fortunately left to grab his stuff. I scowled and asked, "What are you doing here, Soren?" Soren chuckled and replied, "I transferred here to be with my cousin. He broke his arm while playing soccer." I huffed and said, "I have already rejected you, so stay out of my way." Alex approached me and asked, "Are you ready for the first class of the day?" I nodded and replied, "Yes. Let's go." I didn't know what Elder Ezra was scheming, but I wouldn't allow it.
