Cain's P.O.V
Five years later.
My term in office was finally over. People asked me if I would ever participate again. I was planning to, but when the kids were older. Alex gave birth to our third son in the second year of our marriage. Lucas was different than our other children. He was quiet and liked to cling to Alex. Alex's wish came true. Our youngest child looked like him. Maverick laughed the first time he saw Lucas. He hadn't forgotten what Alex had said before. My brother was more involved in my life now. Alex had helped him sort out things with supernatural creatures. Things were easy for him now.
I had taken over my parent's empire. I had to travel for work but always made time for the kids. Alex was busy as well. It was time to choose new elders. The whole process was giving him a headache. I helped him relax when he got home from work. My in-laws were taking it easy for now. They traveled the world after our marriage. The kids missed them but didn't complain. I was getting ready for work when Adriel barged into our room. I sighed and asked, "Didn't we teach you to knock before you enter a room, Adriel? What if I was naked?" The boy was now twelve but looked fourteen.
Adriel huffed and replied, "Oh, please. I could sense you weren't naked." I patted Adriel's cheek and asked, "What got you so mad that you forgot your manners?" Adriel gazed at the bathroom door and uttered, "They canceled our next match due to attacks on the Sunrise Pack. It's not safe, it seems. Do you think Papa can do anything about it? I don't want things to drag on. Ethan's concert will be soon, and I want to be there for him." Ethan was a violin player in a kid's orchestra. Alex exited the bathroom and said, "I'll take care of it. Don't worry." Adriel threw himself at his father and yelled, "Thank you so much, Papa! You are the best!"
I cupped Alex's face after Adriel left. Alex gazed into my eyes and asked, "What's wrong?" I kissed Alex passionately and replied, "You're such a great father." Alex smirked and uttered, "It was already on my schedule, but Adriel doesn't need to know that." I laughed and said, "I love you, Alex." Alex patted my back and replied, "I love you, Cain." It was time for breakfast. Eva was busy chatting with her grandmother. She was the queen of the house, and she knew it. The boys quietly enjoyed their breakfast. Lucas grabbed my sleeve and uttered, "Juice." I stroked my youngest son's head and helped him drink.
Alex kissed Lucas's cheek and said, "Good boy, now finish your pancake." The little boy giggled while eating. I looked around the table and smiled in satisfaction. "This is what people call a happy life," I thought. I had promised Ethan I would drop him off at his music school. I called out to Ethan and said, "I'll be waiting at the gate for you, Ethan. Don't forget to bring your violin." The boy smiled and replied, "Okay, Daddy." Adriel had training. Alex would pick him up later. Alex and I dropped the kids off at school after breakfast. Eva had started school as well. We had to drive to two locations now.
I had a busy day and arrived just in time to pick up Ethan. The boy ran to me when he saw me. I was afraid Ethan would fall with all his bags, so I went to help him. Adriel handed me all his luggage and started telling me about his day. Ethan was a beautiful boy. He got a lot of attention from his fellow students. I checked if Ethan had enough snacks and water on our way to the music school. The parking lot seemed busy. I gazed at the people and asked, "Is there a recital going on, Ethan?" Ethan nodded and replied, "Yes, Daddy, but it's for the older kids." I helped Ethan out of the car and grabbed his stuff. I led Ethan to the entrance and fixed his hair and clothes. Ethan grinned and said, "Stop, Daddy. I look fine." I kissed Ethan's forehead and said, "Don't overdo it. Your father and I will pick you up at seven."
Ethan nodded and ran toward the door. I sighed and yelled, "And stop running!" Ethan giggled and waved at me. I was about to step into the car when a man called out to me. My bodyguards immediately took a stand. I pushed one of them back and said, "Stand down. I know who it is." The man gazed at me and declared, "Are you the one who adopted the boy, sir?" I fixed my tie and replied, "Yes, I'm the boy's father. What is it to you?" The man clutched the hem of his jacket and uttered, "I'm the boy's biological father." I put my hand up to stop the man from talking. I had already sensed his bond. I frowned and stated, "I don't care about that. I love the boy dearly, so don't let me see you around him again."
The man gasped and uttered, "Don't get me wrong, sir. I'm here for my nephew. He had a recital today. I was happy to see my biological child had inherited my talents. I'm a world-renowned multi-instrumentalist." I growled and said, "I don't care about who you are or what you do. Get out of my sight." The man gazed at his shoes and uttered, "Don't worry, sir. I'm in no position to fight for the boy. I have a life and a family." I stepped forward and glared at the man. The man winced when I said, "Don't make me laugh. The boy's wolf has severed his bond with you and the wretched woman who carried him. You better never let me see you again." The man bowed and uttered, "I'm no match for you, former President Barrett. I'll take my leave now."
I wanted to kill the man. Alex appeared next to me and declared, "Don't worry. Eric Alba knows Ethan sees us as his biological parents." I sighed in relief and asked, "What about the mother?" Alex chuckled and replied, "Her wolf has no feelings for our child. She cut her ties when she abandoned Ethan." I kissed Alex's cheek and said, "Thank you for coming." Alex stroked my cheek and replied, "How couldn't I have come? Theon was about to rip Eric apart." Alex and I went our separate ways after chatting a bit. Adriel won the championship. He started training for swimming competitions right after. It was soon time for the concert. Eva made banners to support her brother. Alex went to the venue early with Ethan. We followed after. I thought the boy would be nervous, but that wasn't the case. He was amazing.
We had dinner at a high-end restaurant after the concert. The kids huddled together on our bed after bathing. I sighed and said, "No one is sleeping with us tonight." Alex laughed when the kids began whining. He grabbed Lucas and uttered, "We need our rest, kids." We put the kids to bed and then had some drinks. I went to check on the kids before going to bed. I chuckled when I heard Adriel ask Ethan, "Now tell me, what are you going to do when an alpha bothers you?" Adriel knew his brother would get unwanted attention as an omega. Ethan took a deep breath and replied, "I'll break his legs."
I wasn't worried about my children's future. Alex and I had taught them well. I knew they were strong enough to survive anything. The sun shone brightly in our room in the morning. The kids barged into our room with their phones and toys. Alex laughed while looking at the kids and declared, "I hope our lives are full of bright and shiny days like this." I kissed my mate and replied, "Me too, my love."
