Cain's P.O.V.
I was busy campaigning, so I couldn't help Alex organize our wedding. I was glad when Maverick told me he would do his best to make our day unforgettable. I had just returned from a meeting when Alex barged into my office. Our wedding date was getting close, so he was a little stressed. Alex growled and started pacing back and forth. I sighed when Alex said, "Maverick is getting on my nerves. He invited people without asking me. I told him I didn't want anyone there." I hugged Alex and declared, "I'll talk to him. Our wedding will be the way you want. I promise."
Alex turned to face me and uttered, "It's time for us to try on our tuxedos. I'll be waiting for you at the shop. Don't be late." I had forgotten about the appointment. I was luckily free that afternoon. I kissed Alex passionately and said, "I wouldn't miss it for the world." Alex groaned and replied, "Don't be coy. I know you forgot about it." I hugged Alex tightly and declared, "I can't wait to get married to you, Alex." Theon yipped happily. He was helping me train the boys lately. I was glad to have a powerful wolf like him.
I visited Maverick after Alex left. The guy was busy with paperwork and didn't even look up when I called out to him. I sat at his desk and asked, "Why can't you respect Alex's wishes, Maverick?" Maverick chuckled and said, "I knew he would complain to you." I growled and yelled, "You are lucky he hasn't cut off your tongue yet! Stop complicating things and follow his orders!" Maverick glared at me and said, "And what about our family then? Don't they have a right to know that you are getting married?" I ran my fingers through my hair and asked, "Are you talking about the same family who has never asked how I was even doing all these years?"
Maverick sighed when he realized he had messed up. I stood up and said, "Fix this. I don't plan on hiding our matrimony from the world. The whole world will soon know I'm married with children." It was almost time for our fitting. My people had made the owner and the workers sign a nondisclosure agreement so I could visit the shop as the President. Alex was waiting for me when I arrived. He looked alluring in his dark blue three-piece suit. I kissed his cheek and asked, "Are you coming from a meeting?" Alex nodded and replied, "Yeah. A lion shifter pack moved to the US. They are here to expand their business. I summoned them to set boundaries. Come on, let's hurry. I want to be home before dinner."
I kissed Alex softly and led him to the fitting rooms. People tried to avoid our gaze. I didn't care because I was over the moon with joy. We managed to wrap up everything on time. I didn't feel like going home yet. I laced my fingers through my mate's and said, "I want to enjoy the cold breeze with you before going home." Alex frowned and asked, "Do you want to tell me something, Cain?" I laughed and kissed Alex. Alex hummed and said, "Stop. You are making me anxious." I kissed Alex's neck and stated, "I just want to be with you. That's all." Alex chuckled and declared, "You are so childish sometimes." We drove to a park. There was, fortunately, no one there. We got out of the car and started walking to the playground.
Alex chuckled when I ran to a swing. He followed me and asked, "Do you want me to push you?" I nodded. Alex pushed me slowly and said, "It's fortunate we couldn't do this together when we were young." I gazed at Alex and replied, "Yeah, I think so too, but it's not late." Alex threw his arms around me and said, "I bet the kids will flee if they see two powerful grown men swinging like this." I laughed while picturing the scene. Alex kissed my temple and uttered, "We had enough fun. Our children are waiting for us."
Alex was right. Eva had been calling out to me. It was best to go home. Eva screamed when she saw me. Adriel huffed and declared, "Eva is mad because Ethan doesn't want to give her his stickers. Ethan got it as a reward from his teacher. I wouldn't give it to her either." I sighed while looking at my daughter. Her face was red from all the crying. Ethan gazed at her and said, "I will give it to you, but you have to promise me not to destroy it." Eva giggled while grabbing the stickers. Ethan tried to control his emotions. I felt sorry for the boy. He had worked hard to receive the reward.
Alex wanted to reprimand Eva but stopped. The little girl had sensed her brother's pain. She didn't want to hurt him any further. Eva grabbed her brother's hand and said, "Sorry." Ethan's eyes widened in surprise. He hugged Eva and said, "I'll buy you another pack, okay." It seemed like our children could solve their problems themselves. I chuckled when Alex picked up Eva and said, "I told you not to touch your sibling's stuff. When you start school, you will also get rewards."
Ethan clutched the hem of his shirt and yelled, "Don't get mad at her, Papa!" Alex growled and asked, "Do you want me to give you an earful too, Ethan?" Etan yelled, "No!" and ran out of the room. Adriel laughed and uttered, "Scaredy cat." I glared at him and asked, "Aren't you enjoying yourself too much, Adriel?" Adriel winced and uttered, "Grandpa needs me. I got to go." Alex laughed and stated, "I love the kid's antics." I kissed my mate and replied, "Me too, darling." It was soon our wedding day. We had only invited the elders and a few officials.
We woke up early to get the kids ready. Maverick had outdone himself. The garden looked great. I was sure the pictures would come out beautiful. Maverick and his mate stayed by my side while I was getting ready. I smiled when I saw Alex standing at the altar. My wish was finally coming true. My father didn't dare to approach me. Ethan stayed away from him as well. The rituals were taking forever. Eva hugged my leg and said, "Up." The head elder chuckled and uttered, "It's alright. You can take her in your arms."
It was finally time to exchange the rings. Alex gazed into my eyes and declared, "I never thought we would reunite again, but look at us now. No one would ever expect we got separated as kids." I cupped Alex's face and kissed him passionately. I smiled at my mate and said, "I have never stopped loving you, Alexander Haile." The head elder coughed to get our attention. My in-laws laughed when he said, "Now I pronounce you Mr. and Mr. Barrett-Haile."
The ceremony was finally over. We took a bunch of photos for the press and ourselves. We had lunch with the elders and officials after that. The kids were tired. They took a nap after eating. Maverick and his family stayed behind. My father left after lunch. Before we knew it, the day was over. We had a quiet Sunday. The kids did their homework and spent time in the garden with their grandparents. The newspapers and channels were buzzing with news about my wedding on Monday. I chuckled when I realized Alex and I had succeeded in riling everyone up. We had intentionally leaked the news. I asked my assistant to organize a press conference on Tuesday.
Alex and I made our way to the venue. The journalist started bombarding us with questions. I calmed everyone down and said, "My husband and I want to make a statement first. You can ask us as many questions as you want after." The whole room went quiet. I started by saying why I had hidden my other half and children. People seemed to understand when I said it was because of safety issues. It was Alex's turn next. Alex leaned forward and declared, "I won't be meddling in my husband's affairs. My children are my priority." There were a lot of supernatural creatures at the scene. They gasped when Alex changed his form. The humans looked in bewilderment at them. Alex and I went home after the event.
I hugged Alex and said, "It's finally over. I will attend Adriel's next match as the President to fulfill his wish." Alex laughed and said, "Well, you're in luck, Cain. His next match will be against his rival's team." The match was after school on Friday. Adriel stood proudly next to me after winning the game. The commissioner came to greet me with his son. Adriel winked at the boy and asked, "Don't you have anything to say?" The boy whimpered. Adriel ran to his friends while laughing. I smiled at the commissioner and uttered, "He's adorable, isn't he?" The man couldn't help but agree with me. I won the elections by a landslide. I was happy to be the President again.
