Chapter 11. Heart to heart

Cain's P.O.V

I was happy with the way Alexander's and my relationship was going. Alex was still hesitant, but it was nothing to worry about. He would come to his senses once he realized I was his mate. I had ordered two warriors to guard my mate. I didn't trust Arthur and Dimitri. I could sense how much Dimitri hated Alex. He could do anything to please Arthur. Dimitri had never been an obedient child. Maverick and I had already warned Dimitri's father. They would have to leave the clan if something happened to Alexander. The Haile family lived in our area. It was our duty to protect them.

My father was right. My wolf Theon wasn't very active. He only talked to me when it was necessary. I didn't mind. Our personalities matched perfectly. I had exams the whole week and was looking forward to seeing Alex. My father walked into my room while I was wearing my shoes. He sat on my bed and said, "I need to talk to you about something, Cain." I sighed and asked, "Can we do it tomorrow, Dad? I'm going to a party now. I don't want to make Alex wait." My father groaned and uttered, "It's about him, so sit down."

I knew it was something serious when my mother appeared. I sat on my desk and said, "Okay. I'm listening." My mother gazed at my father and stated, "We met Elder Ezra today. He told us that he had already found someone suited to be your mate." I clutched my hair and yelled, "What? Who permitted him to do so?" My mother grabbed my hands and declared, "Don't ruin your hairdo. Where are you going anyway?" I sighed and replied, "I'm going to Trisha's house. It's her birthday. She's Alexander's friend. We agreed to meet there. He left early to prepare for the party. Don't try to distract me. Tell me what's going on."

My father contemplated and said, "Elder Ezra told us that Alex was born without a mate. He heard Alex's parents talking about it when he was born. The Elder was shocked because he had never suspected them to be supernatural creatures. And that's not all. Alex and his family will be moving away after his graduation." I knew about the mate thing, but Alex had never told me about him leaving L.A. My mother hugged me and stated, "I think you should reconsider your decision to chase Alex, Cain. Maybe Theon is confused, and someone else is your mate." I shook my head and replied, "You are wrong, Mom. I know what I feel." I grabbed my car key and walked out of my room. My mother kept calling out to me. My father silenced her by saying, "Leave it, honey. It's something we can't control."

I drove to Trisha's house with a heavy heart. Kids were everywhere. I texted Alex before leaving the car. He wrote back that he was in the kitchen with some friends. I noticed Arthur when I walked into the house. The guy waved at me. I ignored him and walked into the kitchen. Alex was busy chatting with Liam. He looked great in his white dress shirt and black jeans. My heart melted when Alex smiled. I approached Alex and said, "I'm thirsty." Alex chuckled and replied, "One cold soda. Coming right up." Alex opened the soda bottle and handed it to me. I threw my arm around Alex's shoulder and took a sip.

Liam gazed at me and stated, "I never expected you to be so loving, my lord." I frowned and replied, "You can address me informally. We are at a party." Liam nodded and left. We were finally alone. Alex kissed my cheek and asked, "Why are you in a bad mood today?" I sighed and replied, "We can't talk here about it. I'll tell you later." A girl walked into the kitchen looking for the birthday cake. Alex smiled and said before leaving, "Go to the pool. We will leave after Trisha cuts the cake." I threw the empty bottle away and walked to the swimming pool.

Kids were having the time of their lives by the pool. I sat on the terrace and gazed at the sky. My parents had ruined my night. Theon was sleeping as always. I was startled when Cliff yelled, "Welcome, my brother!" The guy was drunk. I helped Cliff sit and said, "Don't drive home tonight. Stay here to sober up." Cliff giggled and replied, "Yes, Dad." The kids suddenly started singing the birthday song. Alex was standing next to Trisha. The girl blew the candles and yelled, "Yes! Happy birthday to me!" Trisha could barely stand. She tried to grab Alex. Alex pushed Liam forward and said, "You take care of her. I have something to do."

I couldn't take my eyes off Alex. The guy was mesmerizing to me. How could my parents think Alex wasn't my mate? Theon was paying attention to him as well. He yipped when Alex winked at us. Our fun got ruined by Arthur. The guy stood before me and asked, "Can I talk to you, Cain?" I got up and replied, "I'm not in the mood to listen to you. Can you get out of my way now?" Arthur grabbed a mike and began singing a love song to me. Girls started throwing flowers at him. The guy sounded like a dog in heat to me. Trisha grabbed the mike suddenly and yelled, "It's my night and not yours!" Alex grasped my hand and said, "Let the drunkards fight among themselves. Let's go." I followed Alex to my car. I handed the key to Alex and said, "You can drive tonight. I don't feel like it."

Alex started the car and declared, "Relax. I'll drive you to somewhere beautiful." I dozed off during the ride. We were at the beach when I opened my eyes. Alex hadn't noticed I was awake. He was looking intently at the waves. Alex's blond hair sparkled in the streetlight. My mate was truly gorgeous. I caressed Alex's cheek and said, "I'm sorry for behaving like a child, Alex." Alex kissed the palm of my hand and replied, "It's alright. You won my heart by rejecting Arthur." I sat up straight and asked, "What's wrong with Arthur? How could he approach me in the middle of a party?"

Alex kissed my temple and replied, "Who knows? Arthur has always been crazy. What has been bothering you, Cain?" I gazed at the beautiful scenery and asked, "Why didn't you tell me you were moving, Alex? We are mates. You are supposed to tell me such things." Alex scowled and replied, "My father decided to move for my safety and health. Things will change once we are sure we are mates." "Why was I the only one who could feel the pull?" I thought. I grabbed Alex's collar and pulled him closer. Alex groaned when I kissed him passionately.

He pushed me and said, "Don't be rough, Cain." I bit Alex's ear and whispered, "I want you, Alex." Alex glared at me and stated, "Stop joking around. I don't want you to regret it later." I gazed into Alex's eyes and declared, "Penetration doesn't have to be involved." Alex started the car and uttered, "Don't blame me later." He drove us to a hotel. Alex booked a room and said, "Behave yourself, or I'll leave." My wolf was already yipping happily. I followed Alex to the room. I attacked him as soon as he opened the door. We kissed each other passionately.

Alex pushed me on the bed and asked, "Are you sure you want this?" I nodded while getting rid of my shirt. I kissed Alex's ripped abs. Alex moaned when I bit his nipple. I lost my mind when he unbuckled my belt with his teeth. I don't remember what happened after that. Alex was lying in my arms when I woke up in the morning. Proof of our passionate night together was evident on Alex's body. I couldn't believe I had sex with Alex.
