Chapter 13. Romance

Cain's P.O.V

Alex had become much more loving after sleeping with me. We met every day and talked about the most random things. My birthday was coming up. I was looking forward to the party. My mother had put a guest list together. It was full of potential partners. I had already given her my opinion about the list. It was Monday, and I was looking forward to seeing Alex. Alex was sitting in Clifford's seat when I stepped into the classroom. He handed me a Starbucks coffee and a sandwich.

I smiled when Alex said, "I can sense you haven't had breakfast yet, so enjoy." Alex was right. I had been training with my father till morning. I woke up late in the morning and had to hurry to school. Alex played with my hair while I ate. He was startled when Clifford kicked his chair and said, "Get out of my seat." I wanted to retaliate, but Alex stopped me. Alex got up and asked Clifford, "Did you buy this chair at Ikea, Clifford? I don't see your name anywhere."

Clifford pushed Alex and yelled, "Stop acting tough. We all know your history!" Theon was urging me to attack Cliff. I stood before the guy and said, "That's enough. You have no right to ridicule Alex." Clifford huffed and mumbled, "I can't believe you are taking his side. He must have put a spell on you." I glared at Clifford and asked, "Are you five? Don't mess with my private life." Clifford sat down and glared at the blackboard. Alex grabbed my shoulder and declared, "Let him think what he wants. I'm going to my seat." The rest of the day went by without a hitch.

There was a pep rally that day. The teachers had asked us to gather at the gymnasium. I texted Alex when I reached the venue. He was sitting with Trisha, Arthur, and Liam. I was about to join him when someone tapped on my shoulder. I couldn't conceal my annoyance. Soren gasped when I asked, "What the hell do you want?" He smiled sheepishly and replied, "I don't know the people here. Can I sit with you, Cain?" I growled, "No," and walked away. I didn't know what Soren was trying to achieve. Alex asked me, "Is everything alright?" when I joined him. I laced my fingers through his and answered, "Yeah."

Arthur glared at our hands. Trisha followed his gaze. Everyone could see that I was smitten with Alex. Their opinions didn't matter to me. Trisha and Arthur had organized the event. The principal asked them to give a speech at the end of the event. Trisha's speech ended on a funny note. I found it tasteless. Alex whispered, "Let's leave. Traffic will be a mess shortly," when it was Arthur's turn. I nodded and grabbed my jacket. Alex froze when Arthur uttered, "Why don't you confess to me now, Alex? Everyone's listening. You won't get a chance like this again." You could suddenly hear a pin fall. All the gazes were on Alex.

Alex shook his head and yelled, "Your petty side is showing, Arthur!" Arthur laughed and said, "Look, guys. Thousand is going for billions now. He doesn't want the poor me." People began laughing. The principal took the microphone from Arthur and began scolding him. Theon had other things in mind. Alex slammed his fist on the steering wheel when he got into his car. I tried to console him. I stroked my mate's back and declared, "I'll take care of him. Don't worry." Alex rubbed his face and uttered, "He is why my father wants to move. Arthur pushed me into depression a few years ago. I want to slap my eight-year-old self. What the hell did I see in that bastard." I kissed Alex's temple and asked, "Do you want him gone?"

Alex gazed into my eyes and replied, "I know you are capable of killing him but don't. I have a feeling he'll get what he deserves soon." Something had been bothering me for a while now. I stroked Alex's head and asked, "Can elves truly predict the future, Alex? Don't get me wrong. I was curious about why you can't feel our mate bond. I did some research to gain knowledge on elves. I read that you guys can predict the future. Is that true?" Alex contemplated and answered, "I don't know about other elves, but my father can see things. He told me he would get sick, and he did. His powers are not strong, so he can't predict much. My uncle, on the other hand, is different. He can tell you all the details about your life. I haven't seen him since I turned ten, though."

I hadn't received the response I was seeking. The whole thing was still bothering me. I hadn't realized Alex was staring at me. I flinched when Alex cupped my face and kissed me passionately. Alex gazed into my eyes and said, "My mind goes blank whenever you show me kindness, Cain. Even though the sparks I feel aren't intense, I still feel them. I adore you and will cherish each moment I spend with you." I was about to kiss Alex when someone passed by. Alex started his car and stated, "I'll take you somewhere quiet." Alex drove me to a forest. He smiled and said, "Don't worry. It's your family's territory." He parked the car and led me to a path. I diligently followed him to a tree.

Alex hugged me from behind and said, "Look up." I gasped when I saw the tree house. I kissed Alex's cheek and asked, "Who built this?" Alex chuckled and replied, "I did. I did it to get my mind off of things. Your brother was furious when he discovered it. Maverick wanted to destroy the tree house but changed his mind. He decided to use it as a resting place. He hasn't been here in a while. Come on. Let's enjoy the view." I was surprised by the interior of the tree house. There was even a wooden bed. Everything was well kept.

The view was great as well. I kissed Alex and said, "You are good with your hands, Alex." Alex chuckled and asked, "Do you want to see how good I am?" Alex kissed me intensely before I could reply. He unbuckled my belt and pulled my pants down. I gasped when Alex knelt before me and grabbed my member. Alex gazed at me and said, "I'm not good at this, so bear with me." I lifted Alex's chin and replied, "I enjoy whatever you do for me." I groaned when Alex took my whole length in his mouth. He kneaded my balls while sucking me off. Alex looked alluring. It was like we had forgotten we were just kids.

I called my brother and said, "I need to talk to you about something urgent, Maverick. When are you free?" I didn't even know that Maverick was away. It looked like I would have to wait to get my answers.
