Alexander's P.O.V

I discovered my uncle's plans late. I couldn't do anything to save the situation by then. How could he influence people's opinions about me? The man had joined hands with Elder Ezra to keep my mate and me apart. I vowed to make him suffer. I had decided to give up my child for adoption. I was too young to raise a child. My parents advised me not to do so. I was too hurt to listen to anyone. I thought that attending my last days of school would be a hassle. Things weren't as bad as I thought.

It was strange that the kids didn't bother me at school. I met Liam by chance at a vending machine one day. He smiled and asked, "How are you doing, Alex?" I sighed and replied, "I'm doing good, considering what happened." Liam grabbed my arm and stated, "I'm glad that Cain warned everyone not to mock you. I have a feeling he still likes you." I frowned when Arthur showed up. The guy didn't react and stood in line to buy a drink. I smiled and said, "I'm sorry, Liam. That ship has already sailed. I'm concentrating on my future now."

Liam laughed and replied, "You know where to find me when you need someone to talk to, Alex. Have a great week. Bye." I didn't meet Liam again. I couldn't avoid running into Cain, though. He was always there when I needed help. I wondered why Theon hadn't sensed I was carrying Cain's child yet. I couldn't tell Cain about it even if I wanted to. I had managed to take revenge on my enemies. It was now time to wait for graduation.

I hardly talked to my parents. I felt betrayed by them. It seemed like Aidan couldn't stay away from Cain. My heart broke every time I saw him and Cain together. I wasn't allowed to visit the treehouse. Maverick had threatened to kill me if he ever saw me there. I had planned to attend my graduation. Things changed when I received an invitation from the high council. My mother didn't waste any time. She instantly started planning our trip to Switzerland.

I decided to visit Cain one last time before leaving. I masked my presence before I went to the mansion. The guy was sleeping when I visited his room. Theon perked up his ears. I stroked Cain's head and said, "I don't know if I will ever see you again. I want to hate you, but I can't. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you about your child." Theon growled when I put Cain's hand on my belly. I smiled and said, "Don't worry, Theon. I will take good care of him." I winced when Theon bared his teeth and yelled, "Liar!" I jumped off the bed when Cain gazed into my eyes and stated, "I will never betray you. Look after our child."

My uncle was urging me to leave the place. Maverick was on alert. The guy was a pain. I didn't want to get in trouble. I kissed Cain's forehead and left. Who knows if Cain would remember our last meeting? I heard at the airport that Cain was getting married. I had lost the will to live, but I didn't show it. We arrived late in the afternoon in Bern. I didn't even get a chance to shower. The high council wanted to see me immediately. I sighed while looking at the large building. It would be my home for the time being. A man welcomed me at the entrance and led me to the top floor. I could sense the people inside the room. They were all in their sixties. I wondered why the enforcer's council had waited to appoint new people.

All eyes were on me when I walked into the room. The head of the council hummed and said, "So this is the promised child." I quickly looked at the man's name. Quin Albot was an elf, for sure. A woman was sitting next to Quin. She huffed and uttered, "Can't you see he's carrying a child? We have no use for him now." There were eight people present at the meeting. I lost my mind when they all started arguing. I gathered my powers and yelled, "Shut up, all of you!" Cain's wedding was still lying heavy on my mind. The council members calmed down when dark matter began oozing out of me.

I glared at Quin and asked, "Are you telling me you ruined my life just to reject me?" The woman stood up and said, "Calm down, kid. I didn't mean it that way." I fell to my knees and declared, "I lost everything because of my uncle and you people. I will defeat each one of you and destroy this council. People will forget you ever existed. Oh, how I miss Cain." My uncle appeared next to me. He took me into his arms and said, "It's okay, Alex. Nothing was in vain. These old farts are jealous of you. They had to train hard to gain their powers while you were born with it."

People began apologizing to me. I was too tired to focus on them. I fell asleep in my uncle's arms. I woke up in my hotel room in the morning. The view was beautiful. Quin visited me after breakfast. He asked me to see a healer with him. My mother accompanied me to the hospital. The healer told me that my child was healthy. He allowed me to train. Quin instantly handed me a schedule. I sighed and asked, "What is this? I thought you people didn't want me." Quin smirked and replied, "We shouldn't have doubted your resolve. Evelyn thought that you would run back to your mate. I have to admit. I haven't seen powers like yours in centuries. We can't deny that people don't obey us like they used to. Help us make a change."

I gazed at my schedule and replied, "It seems I have no other choice." Quin grabbed my shoulder and asked, "Is it true that you don't want this baby?" I rubbed my belly and said, "I wanted to give him up, but not anymore. I made a promise to someone dear to me. He will be disappointed if I don't fulfill it." My training started the next day. I made sure I was healthy and fit. A lot of recruits arrived after a while. The council was going all out to regain power. I stopped all activities before my delivery date.

My son Adriel was born on a Monday. I didn't want to look at the child at first. My parents were happy with their grandchild. We still had a troubled bond. I wondered who Adriel looked like. Cain certainly didn't have sparkling eyes. My quest to find my uncle's enemies and raise a child wasn't easy. I had finally regained authority and had trusted people by my side. My parents looked after Adriel while I was away. I had just returned from a mission when I received a request from the fairy council. The werewolves were creating havoc in their territory. I dreaded going back to the U.S.

I wondered if anyone would recognize me. My parents joined me on the mission. It had been six years since they had seen the rest of our family. Adriel slept during the flight. I was afraid to find out how Cain's life had turned out. I had rented a house in Seatle. The house was ready to live in. Adriel ran into the garden when we arrived. I watched my child chase after a squirrel. We were far from Cain. I was sure that we wouldn't run into him. I sighed when Adriel fell flat on his face. My mother chuckled and said, "Don't ruin your beautiful face, darling." I frowned when my assistant said, "Alpha king Maverick Barrett is in town, sir. We couldn't reach him before we left. It seems like he is here to meet President Cain Barrett." I groaned while thinking, "It's all my fault. I should have looked into him before coming."
