Chapter 31. Family time.

Cain's P.O.V.

I was happy that we finally bonded. I returned to work with a heavy heart. Theon wanted nothing more than to stay close to his mate. I sadly couldn't afford that. Alex was distressed when I left. I tried to find out what was troubling him. I frowned when I heard about the sex club. I almost lost control over my powers when I saw the photos. I had vowed to improve lives. Things were now getting out of hand. Maverick was the only one who could help me solve this matter. I decided to visit him after returning to Washington.

My meetings in Los Angeles went well. Flynn handled the matters that didn't need my attention. I was exhausted. I slept during the flight home. I was looking forward to seeing Alex. I lost my mind when he appeared next to me in the car. I hugged Alex and said, "What a pleasant surprise, my mate." Alex kissed my cheek and replied, "I'm glad to see you too, Cain. I have an urgent matter to discuss with you." I gazed at the stack of files in Alex's hands and asked, "Alright. What is all this about?" Alex kissed me softly and uttered, "I'm free after this. Let's have a lavish dinner with the whole family tonight."

I groaned when I saw that it was already seven-thirty pm. "The kids must be getting ready for dinner," I thought. Alex pinched my cheek and uttered, "It's not much, Mr. President." I chuckled and grabbed the files. Alex looked haggard. He took a nap while I went through the documents. It seemed like Maverick had failed to do his job. The enforces had discovered many sex clubs in the U.S. The owners forced people to sell themselves. People were expecting protection in return, but they got misery instead. Many children went missing as well. I wondered how my brother had missed these heinous signs. Was he the alpha king just for the show?

I was startled when Alex grabbed my hand. Alex leaned his head against my shoulder and said, "We have rescued the missing children and the sex slaves. We buried the guy who shot me last week. My men couldn't find his relatives. Things need to change, or I'll have to take action. I will accompany you when you visit Maverick. He is lucky that no one has attacked him yet." I nodded while looking out the window. I knew my brother. He would never let people suffer like this. He either didn't know about it or was under a spell. I went to have dinner with the kids and my in-laws. The boys were happy to see me. They couldn't stop gushing about their trips to the beach, but I was too preoccupied to listen.

Alex grabbed my shoulder and growled, "Who's more important, your brother or them?" I quickly composed myself when I realized what I was doing. I apologized to the boys and grabbed the tickets I had brought for them. Adriel gasped when I handed him his ticket. Ethan leaned over to check the gift. He hummed and asked, "What does it say, Addy?" Alex's parents laughed when Adriel misspelled the words. He had mixed it with German pronunciations. Alex groaned and yelled, "Do it correctly!" Adriel giggled and said, "I wasn't wrong, but alright." Ethan kicked his legs and squealed when Adriel shouted, "Safari tours Kenya!"

Adriel clutched my sleeve and asked, "Are we going to Africa, Daddy?" I stroked Adriel's head and replied, "Yes, Ethan. I must disguise myself while we're there, but yes. We are going to another continent." Ethan began rolling on the floor like a maniac. He wasn't a quiet child anymore. Adriel ran to his grandparents and stated, "Look. You guys are going as well." Alex threw his arm around me and said, "I can't wait to find out how you will manage this trip." I kissed Alex's temple and replied, "I deserve a holiday too. You don't have to worry about anything. I have already arranged things. We should teleport there to save time."

Alex contemplated and said, "Okay. I'll talk to my men." The boys couldn't sleep that night. It took us some time to calm them down. We went to bed late. Alex had already showered when I woke up in the morning. He kissed my forehead and stated, "Go back to sleep. It's still early. Aidan will be shifted to another dungeon today. I need to be there. I'll see you later, bye." I suddenly remembered the man.

I grabbed Alex's hand and asked, ''How did Aidan's trial go?" Alex smirked and replied, "He got a life sentence. He deserves it." I nodded and closed my eyes. I fell asleep before I knew it. Alex's father woke me up and said, "Your phone has been ringing nonstop, Cain." I grabbed my phone to check the caller ID. I frowned when I saw that Maverick had been calling me. He could have mind-linked me if it was urgent.

I got out of bed and took a shower. My phone rang while I was getting dressed. I groaned when Maverick said, "Have you forgotten about your nephew's birthday?" I looked at the calendar and answered, "Well, sorry, brother. I have been busy. I can't come unless I'm allowed to bring my sons along." Maverick huffed and uttered, "Alright, but keep the omega and that ill-mannered boy away from my kids." I growled and yelled before putting my phone on silent, "Go screw yourself, Maverick! I will send Ruel's gift to your house. I don't want to see your face anymore." I smirked when Theon said, "Good job, Cain. Who's he to belittle our children?" My day was uneventful. I used my free time to prepare for my trip.

I was about to have lunch with the boys when Alex returned home. He sighed and uttered, "My feet are killing me. I walked all through the woods to look for a lost werewolf pup. The boy had accidentally masked his scent." I dragged Alex to our room after lunch. Alex was surprised when I grabbed a bowl of water and a towel. I took Alex's shoes and socks off. Alex hummed when I soaked his feet. He cupped my face and kissed me passionately. I was getting hard. I threw my arms around Alex's neck and kissed him roughly. We were startled when Adriel opened the door and said, "I need your help with something, Papa." Alex groaned when he saw Adriel's math worksheet.

Ethan ran into his room with his coloring books. He climbed onto the bed and began coloring. Alex huffed and uttered, "It looks like the fun is over." Alex tried to get up. I pushed him down and said, "I'll take care of them. You can relax." I massaged Alex's feet, then went to help Adriel. It was fun spending time with the boys. It was soon time for Alex to leave. I helped him wear his suit jacket and declared, "Maverick is not free today. Can we talk to him tomorrow?"

Alex nodded and replied, "My men are watching your brother. They will step in if something occurs. When would you like to leave for Africa? The kids are going back to school soon." I had planned to leave that weekend. I hugged Alex and replied, "Right after discussing matters with Maverick." Alex bid the boys farewell and left. I was hoping that nothing would ruin our family trip.
