Alex's P.O.V

Cain was rocking our baby daughter to sleep when I opened my eyes. I gazed at Cain and thought, "He's a good father." Cain kissed my forehead when he realized I was awake. I closed my eyes to savor the moment and asked, "What time is it, babe?" Cain placed the baby in my arms and replied, "It's midnight. The delivery went smoothly, and your wound has healed. The obstetrician said you might feel groggy for a while." I kissed my daughter's head and remarked, "She's beautiful. What should we name her?" Cain chuckled and answered, "The boys would like to call her Ava. What do you think?"

The baby smiled when she heard her name. I caressed my daughter's cheek and said, "It fits her perfectly." I looked around and asked, "Where are the boys and my parents? And what about school tomorrow?" Cain stroked Ava's head and replied, "We are in a private wing. Your parents and the boys are sleeping in the room next to us. I contacted the school and told them the boys would be absent tomorrow. They didn't ask too many questions. It will be Friday anyway." My parents had woken up. They came into the room to check on me. My mother smiled when I greeted her. She kissed my cheek and asked, "How are you feeling, son?"

I chuckled and replied, "I feel like a truck ran over me, but it's alright. It was worse when Adriel came into the world. Thank you for taking care of Ava." My mother nodded and uttered, "Ava's beautiful. She wouldn't leave your side when she was born. Cain had to subdue the child." My father patted my back and said, "She looks exactly like Cain. I hope she doesn't inherit his cold demeanor." Cain laughed and stated, "My parents made me that way, father. Alex and I are loving parents. Our children will grow up to be happy." I felt sleepy. I handed the baby to my mother and dozed off. The boys were in my room when I woke up the next day. I could sense Ava in the other room with my parents.

I frowned when Ethan said, "But, Addie, he approached me first." I sat up and asked, "What are you guys talking about?" Ethan gasped and yelled, "Papa!" Adriel climbed onto the bed and hugged me tightly. I kissed my eldest son's cheek and uttered, "Hi, my little potato." I smiled when Adriel helped his brother up. Ethan placed his head on my chest and uttered, "There is an alpha boy named Caleb Stem at school. He had been following me around, but I ignored him. Caleb changed his tactics and started giving me free drinks after a while. I told Addie about it, but he got mad at me instead. We ran into Caleb on the hospital's playground this morning. I didn't even see him at first, I promise. Addie is now furious because I talked to Caleb."

I tried to sense who this boy was. I groaned when I realized the boy was related to Ethan's biological father. Caleb felt drawn to Ethan without knowing the truth. I pulled Ethan onto my lap and said, "Your brother is trying to protect you, baby boy. Caleb is your biological father's nephew. No good will come out of it if he gets close to you. Your brother should have explained things to you before acting like a bully." Ethan looked in fear at me. I hugged the little boy and stated, "Hey, we are never going to let the people who gave you up come near you, sweetheart." Ethan sighed in relief and grabbed Adriel's hand. He smiled broadly and uttered, "Thank you for always looking out for me, Addie. You can tell me things, you know. I'm not stupid."

Adriel grinned and replied, "I know, but you are so cute that I can't help but shield you." We all were startled when Cain asked, "Aren't you all hungry? Let's eat." I was about to eat when I heard Ava cry. My mother smiled and said, "Go ahead, eat. I'll look after the baby." I grabbed my mother's hand and uttered, "No, mom. You are tired. I'll do it." Ava stopped crying when she sensed me. I fixed the baby bottle and then grabbed Ava. Ava quietly enjoyed her baby formula. She fell asleep after I cleaned her up. I couldn't stop looking at the child. Cain hugged me from behind and asked, "What's wrong?" My tears began falling uncontrollably. I turned to face Cain and hugged him tightly. Cain let me cry to my heart's content. He wiped my tears away and kissed me softly. I hummed and said, "I'm so happy, Cain. A happy family is all I ever wanted."

Cain kissed my forehead and uttered, "Me too, my mate." We stayed by Ava's crib for a while. I was allowed to go home on Saturday. The boys didn't want to disturb Ava, so they were quiet. I had recovered but stayed at home. We hadn't found a nanny yet. I was on the patio with the boys when my uncle showed up. I sighed and uttered, "I guess I should thank you for not bothering me before and after my delivery, Mitchell." My uncle gazed at the boys and replied, "It's time, Alex. Our enemy has involved our fellow elves this time." I shook my head and stated, "Are you ever going to tell me what happened between you two, Mitchell?" My uncle glared at me and said, "You will find the details regarding the upcoming attack on your desk. We will talk tomorrow." The man disappeared before I could react. Ava had woken up. My mother was having trouble calming her down. I grabbed the baby and uttered, "Let's go enjoy some sun in the garden, baby girl."

I was too preoccupied to worry about my uncle's enemy. Cain came home in the afternoon. The whole family enjoyed lunch in the backyard. Cain handed me a file before we went to bed. He kissed me intensely and uttered, "I found a nanny. The guy is mated but doesn't have children yet. His mate works on an oil ridge and is never home. The decision to hire him is up to you. I'll handle the contract myself." I couldn't wait to find out more about the guy. I grabbed the file and tried to sense the nanny's true intentions. I smiled when I realized the guy was harmless. I kissed Cain and said, "You can start the process. He can start on Monday."

I had one less problem to worry about now. Matt Leers soon joined our family. The boys liked him. The guy didn't meddle in our affairs. I had also hired two more maids to lessen my mother's burdens. I summoned my uncle when I went back to work. I wasn't going to let him slip through my fingers now. He needed to tell the truth, or I would abandon the mission.
