Alex's P.O.V

I frowned when I saw the guy standing behind Arthur. I wondered what the alpha of a tiger shapeshifter pack was doing with Arthur. It seemed like Trisha was pleased to see the guy. She got up and hugged the guy tightly. I winced when Trisha said, "It's nice to see you, Caleb. Arthur hides you like someone will steal you." I had heard that Caleb was married to a human. I never imagined it was Arthur. I huffed when Arthur stated, "My husband is the richest man in the world, Trisha. There are many greedy people in the world. I have to be careful."

Andrew chuckled and uttered, "That's so true." I wanted to leave. Caleb addressed me before I could do so. He reached his hand out to me and said, "It's nice to meet you, Alex. I have heard many things about you. I hope you don't mind that I tagged along." I shook Caleb's hand and replied, "Hey, it's not my party. The more the merrier, right?" Arthur pulled Caleb away and stated, "Don't get too friendly with him, babe. He'll misunderstand you." I sighed and asked Liam, "Did you invite me here to ridicule me, Liam? It's sad to see that you people haven't grown up."

Trisha giggled and said, "Look at him getting all defensive. It's one of your best traits, Alex." I grabbed my keys and uttered, "I don't have time for this. Stay happy in your holes, guys. I don't mind the boys' staying friends, Liam, but never talk to me again." Liam grabbed my hand and yelled, "I never meant this to happen, Alex. I'm sorry." I pulled my hand away and replied, "All this talk is like noise to me, Liam. Don't worry." Arthur chuckled and declared, "And that's why you still live in a rented house, and we don't." I couldn't help but laugh.

Arthur glared at me. I put my hands up and stated, "I'm sorry if I offended you." Caleb gazed at me and said, "Why were you so mean, Arthur? Do you know who he is? Alexander Haile can destroy us all in a blink of an eye." Arthur huffed and replied, "You are exaggerating, babe. Alex has always been meek. He will never change." Liam sighed and stated, "You are wrong, Arthur. He would have killed you if it wasn't for his position. As the head enforcer, Alex has to stay unbiased. Things will change if someone files a complaint against Caleb or you. Don't bother him again."

I had heard enough. It was late, and I was angry. I cursed myself for thinking people's attitudes would improve. My father, Cain, and the boys were already home. My father had already cleaned the fish they had caught. My mother was putting it in a cool box. I greeted my parents and said, "Wow, Dad. You guys caught many fish today." My father smiled and replied, "Yeah. We had a great day. Your mother is donating them to the orphanage. They are on their way to pick them up." The boys were playing soccer outside with Cain. I sighed while looking at my kids. I suddenly felt something wet on my cheeks.

I was startled when my mother asked, "What's wrong, Alex? Why are you crying?" I wiped my cheeks and uttered, "I didn't realize I was crying, Mom. It's the hormones. I'm fine." Cain had sensed I was in distress. I didn't want to worry the boys. I mind-linked Cain and said, "Keep the boys busy. We'll talk later." Cain groaned and replied, "I hope it doesn't have anything to do with those bastards." My father hugged me and said, "Tell us what happened, son."

My mother growled when she heard what had transpired. I hadn't even realized I was bothered by the situation. The pregnancy was doing odd things to me, I swear. I sighed and uttered, "I wish I never became friends with them. I was such a brat to you guys as well. I'm so sorry." My mother stroked my head and uttered, "Your father and I made mistakes too, son. We are glad you never abandoned us. Our family is in a good place now. That is all we wished for." I saw the future while talking to my parents. It wouldn't be long before Caleb would need my help. The doorbell rang. I composed myself and answered the door. The people from the orphanage had arrived. My parents happily handed the cool box to the driver.

We had dinner after that. Cain kept observing me the whole time. The boys and my parents were tired. They went to bed early. Cain visited his office after showering. I was in bed when he returned. Cain climbed into bed and asked, "Are you ready to tell me what happened?" I sighed and replied, "Yes, but don't get mad. I will deal with them myself." Cain pulled me into his arms and uttered, "I promise. Now tell me everything." My mate stroked my back while I was telling him my story. He kissed my forehead and uttered, "I'm furious right now, but I trust you know what to do." I kissed Cain passionately and replied, "Their words wouldn't have bothered me if I wasn't pregnant."

Cain growled and stated, "What are you saying, Alex? You deserve all the respect in the world. I don't know how you keep your cool. I would have made their lives miserable a long time ago." I chuckled and answered, "That's why I'm the head enforcer, honey." Cain shook his head and kissed me softly. Cain and I fell asleep while reminiscing. A week went by without me hearing anything about my so-called friends. I just returned from a mission when my assistant contacted me. He had received a distress call from Alpha Caleb Jealen. His yacht was under attack in the Bahamas. The alpha's beta was already dead. I had been waiting for this moment.

I gathered my men and visited the yacht. It looked like there was a party going on. Sirens had surrounded the boat. I groaned when I saw how bloodied and bruised Caleb was. Arthur was bawling his eyes out. Trisha, Andrew, and Liam were trying to calm him down. The leader of the sirens whimpered when he saw me. He threw his spear away and yelled, "It's their fault, head enforcer! I told them not to enter these waters!" I gazed at Caleb and asked, "Don't you know it's their mating season, Caleb?" Caleb could hardly talk. He gasped for air and replied, "There were no sirens in sight when I checked, head enforcer. Arthur wanted to swim, and I didn't want to disappoint him."

A spear flew toward Arthur suddenly. Arthur screamed like a banshee. I changed my form and caught the weapon. I kicked the leader of the sirens to the floor and growled, "Stop the attacks before my men lose control." My men were ready for battle. The leader gazed at the weapons of my men and uttered, "As you wish, my lord." I ordered my men to stand down. I groaned and asked, "Was it necessary to kill the beta, Allard?" The leader of the sirens looked at me in fear. He clutched his chest and replied, "Rogue mermen have been disturbing our peace, my lord. My people were in distress. They couldn't help but retaliate when these intruders broke the rules. We still have the beta's soul. One of my men can revive him if you want."

I conjured my shield when I sensed an ominous aura. My men also went on alert. I created a barrier around Caleb and his entourage. We needed them alive. The rogue mermen were about to attack the yacht. I groaned when one of them jumped on the boat. I kicked Allard off the boat and yelled, "Go protect your people. We will handle the mermen!" It seemed like the mermen were in a trance. I hadn't seen such aggression before. I tried to sense if they were innocent. I groaned when I saw how many people they had killed. There was no saving them now. I took a stand and uttered, "Kill all of them, men."

One of the mermen was trying to break my barrier. I cut off the culprit's head and threw it in the ocean. My so-called friends were watching me like a hawk. They winced every time I came close to them. "Good, be afraid of me," I thought. We finished the fight in half an hour. I frowned when I heard someone laugh. I gazed at the ocean and saw that a merman was monitoring us. I clutched my chest when I recognized my uncle's enemy. He had involved mermen this time. The guy disappeared when I tried to capture him. I wondered why he hated my uncle and me so much. Maybe I truly needed to go back in time. My stomach started hurting. I ordered Allard to revive the beta. I made arrangements with my assistant and was about to leave when Arthur stopped me.

He knelt before me and said, "I'm sorry for everything I have done to you, my lord. Please, forgive me." I kicked Arthur away and uttered, "Get away from me, you filthy thing. You guys make me sick. And stop dreaming. Caleb is not the richest man in the world, but I am." Arthur gasped and tried to grab my hand. I chuckled and stated, "A tiger never changes its stripes." Cain had just gotten out of the shower when I got home. I hugged him tightly and declared, "The baby is coming, Cain." The last thing I remember is Cain calling out to my parents.

Hi guys, happy weekend. Stay safe wherever you are.
