Cain's P.O.V

It was finally our date night. I had planned to take Alex to a private beach because he needed to relax. I could see how heavy his uncle's demands were on him. I was surprised when Alex told me he would take care of our date. I was a little hesitant but still let my mate handle everything. I'm not going to lie. I did have a backup plan. I went home early to get ready. The house was quiet. I wasn't surprised when I saw the kids and my in-laws napping on the patio. The weather was great. I decided not to disturb them.

I took a shower and got dressed. Alex had told me to wear something casual. I hummed when Alex hugged me from behind. He kissed my mate mark and uttered, "You look great, babe." I turned to face Alex when I saw he was ready to leave. I cupped Alex's face and said, "I couldn't wait to be with you too, Alex." Alex chuckled and replied, "The kids know about our date. They won't look for us tonight. Let's leave." I laced my fingers through my mate's and stated, "Lead the way, darling." Alex grinned and said, "Close your eyes."'

Alex used a spell to teleport us to the location. A shiver ran down my spine when I realized we were in our old treehouse. The boys hadn't set foot in it since it moved to our backyard, and now I knew why. Alex had masked the structure and had redesigned the whole thing. Images of Maverick and I fighting in the treehouse flashed through my mind. Alex hugged me and uttered, "It's alright, Cain. We are not teenagers anymore." I took a deep breath and uttered, "You are right. Nothing can separate us now."

There was a picnic blanket in the middle of the treehouse. I smiled when I saw all the food and comfortable pillows. Alex sat down and patted on the spot next to him. I shook my head and took a seat behind Alex. Alex grinned when I pulled him between my legs. He opened a bottle of champagne and said, "I'm glad we got to do this. Things will get hectic from now on." I grabbed two champagne glasses and asked, "What do you mean?" Alex poured the champagne into the glasses and replied, "I'll tell you about it later. Let's drink." I never liked it when Alex talked in riddles, but I didn't want to ruin our date. Alex and I cuddled and reminisced.

My eyes widened in surprise when Alex grabbed my hand and uttered, "I have something for you." Alex placed a jewelry box in the palm of my hand and added, "I bought this when we were young. I hid the box in this treehouse and found it while cleaning this place. I'm glad that I didn't lose it. I hope you will like it." I gasped when I saw the diamond engagement rings. I kissed Alex passionately and said, "Put it on my finger. I have been waiting for this moment my whole life."

Alex laughed while placing the ring on my finger. He kissed the ring and declared, "I promise to love you eternally." I pushed Alex down and replied, "I wouldn't know what to do without you, my love. I love you so much that I could die." Alex put his hand on my mouth and uttered, "Don't talk about dying. It's your turn now." I put Alex's ring on his finger and stated, "We are finally engaged. We will get married when my term in office is over."

Alex kissed me intensely and replied, "I can't wait." I placed kisses all over Alex's face and hugged him tightly. I smirked when Alex bit my earlobe. We hadn't made love since Eva's birth. I was horny and couldn't wait. Alex chuckled when I grabbed his belt. He pushed me down and climbed on top of me. Alex gazed into my eyes and said, "Enjoy the view." I wanted to have a long and happy life with my family. I smiled when I saw that Alex had fallen asleep. I used a spell to clean and dress my mate. I pulled Alex into my arms and uttered, "Sleep well, Alex." I slept like a log that night. We were woken up by Ethan's crying in the morning. I groaned when I heard him yell, "Papa!" Alex sprung up and said, "Ethan's in pain. He lost his baby tooth." We got down from the treehouse to help Ethan. The bleeding wouldn't stop, so we used a spell to heal the boy.

Ethan began running after Adriel in no time. I had to go to the office. I had breakfast with the kids and left for work. I remembered what Alex had said the night before on my way home. Alex was feeding Eva when I arrived. I waited for him to finish and asked, "Don't you need to tell me something, Alex?" Alex put the baby to sleep and replied, "I'm planning on revisiting our past, and I want you to join me." I knew why Alex wanted to take such a step, but meddling with the past was never a good idea.
