Cain's P.O.V

Someone else's blood was coursing through my veins. My mother was standing next to my bed. I didn't want to see her but stayed quiet. My mother grabbed my hand and said, "I'm glad you are okay, son. We were all worried about you." I ignored my mother and looked to see if Flynn was in the room. I sighed when I didn't see him but Maverick. I knew it was one of my rivals who had attacked me. The security failure implied that I had moles in my office. Maverick was going through some papers by the window. He huffed and yelled, "What the hell is wrong with these people? You can't step down now."

I sat up and asked, "What's wrong, Maverick?" Maverick growled and replied, "Flynn has received five anonymous letters up until now. Someone is working hard to get rid of you." I asked to see the letters. I was startled when Theon declared, "Let's make them pay for blackmailing us." I chuckled and uttered, "You are finally awake, Theon?" I chuckled while reading I was too young to run a country. My senior party members were still active. I consulted them before making any decisions. The foreign blood in me was urging me to rest. I couldn't take the tingling sensations anymore. I asked Maverick to look into the matter. He promised to visit me later that day.

I fell asleep before I knew it. I suddenly found myself by a lake. There was snow as far as my eyes could see. A little boy was skating on the frozen lake. I frowned when the boy fell on his butt. The boy giggled while getting up. I was about to approach the boy when a man said, "How many times do I have to tell you not to skate alone, Adriel?" The boy laughed and began skating again. My eyes widened in surprise when the man reached his hand out to me and said, "Come, darling. Let's have fun." I recognized the man immediately. He used to be a classmate of mine. I was woken up from my sleep when a cup fell. I groaned and uttered, "Who is it?" Flynn helped me sit and replied, "Sorry, sir. It's me." I rubbed my face and asked, "When can I go home?" Flynn handed me a glass of water and said, "Whenever you like, sir. The enforcer's blood healed you completely."

I couldn't get the images of the man and the boy out of my head. I suddenly remembered the man's name. I finished my water and uttered, "Ah, Alexander Haile was his name." I asked Flynn to hand me my phone. Flynn gazed at me and asked, "Is something wrong, sir?" I smirked and replied, "No. File a complaint at the enforcer's bureau. Tell them I can't do my job because of all the threats." Flynn chuckled and asked, "Do you want to meet your savior, sir? He was quite handsome, you know." I shook my head and replied, "You know me too well, Flynn. Contact all the party members. I want their advice on this situation. I know how to handle it, but I want to hear from them first."

Flynn left the room to carry out my orders. I tried to gather information about Alexander Haile. I couldn't find anything on the guy. It was like he didn't exist. I asked Theon to look into the guy. He huffed and uttered, "No, thank you. He won't like it." "Does Theon know the guy?" I thought. I was about to question Theon when Maverick appeared. He handed me a file and said, "The rights are behind the attack. They can't handle the change." I chuckled and stated, "It's alright, Maverick. I know what to do." I left the hospital in the afternoon. I decided to visit my office first. There were flowers everywhere. It seemed like everyone wanted to show me compassion.

I sighed and said, "Take out the cards and donate the flowers to a community center. They will know what to do with them." I tried to prepare for my meeting with the elders of my party. It was hard to concentrate. Images of Alexander Haile and the child kept popping up in my mind. I wondered why I had dreamt about them. It seemed like I had a relationship with the enforcer in the dream. Theon was in a good mood. He was yipping happily. I felt a headache coming on. I closed my eyes to calm my mind. I jumped up when someone said, "Make sure to choose me, Cain." I looked around to see if I was alone. There was no one there. It was like I was losing my mind. I walked into the bathroom to wash my face. I was looking haggard. I clutched my chest and uttered, "Wait, I recognize this voice. It's Alexander Haile's."

Flynn knocked on the bathroom door and yelled, "What's wrong, sir? Your pheromones are leaking. It overwhelms the workers." I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. I gazed in the mirror and thought, "I have to figure out what's going on with me before things get worse." Flynn looked at me in concern when I walked out of the bathroom like a mess. He pulled my chair and said, "The enforcer's bureau accepted our complaint, sir. The head enforcer, Alexander Haile, will look into the matter. The party has agreed to see you tomorrow at ten." Flynn was startled when I asked, "What did you say?" Flynn composed himself and uttered, "The party will see you tomorrow." I groaned and uttered, "No, not that. What did you say the name of the head enforcer was?" Flynn repeated the name and asked, "Do you know him, sir?" I nodded and replied, "Yeah, I went to school with him."

Flynn smiled and declared, "He was the one who saved you, sir." I was suddenly happy, and I didn't even know why. Flynn grabbed my arm and stated, "You should go home, sir." I laughed and asked my secretary, "Am I acting weird?" Flynn nodded and answered, "Yes, sir." I followed Flynn's advice. I went straight to bed when I reached home. I heard a child cry when I woke up. Aidan had married his college sweetheart. He got pregnant before he could finish his studies. He was now traveling the world with his husband. My parents were looking after their omega child while they were away. I got out of bed to see why the child was crying. I sighed when I saw he had fallen off the sofa. The child probably dozed off while playing. It was the first time I had seen the boy. The child looked at me with teary eyes. I couldn't get mad at the cute child. I helped him up and asked, "Are you hurt anywhere?"

The child nodded and said, "My knees hurt, uncle." I winced when the child called me uncle. The child's knees were red. I was about to pick him up when my mother appeared. She went down on her knees and hugged the boy. I sighed when my mother uttered, "I'm sorry, Ethan. Grandmother didn't hear you cry." I frowned when my mother began crying. I huffed and asked, "Where were you, and where are the nannies?" My mother wiped the child's face and said, "I was making soup for you. The nannies didn't get the clearance from the security guards to enter the premises." I gazed at the boy and said, "I'll talk to Flynn about it. I hope you will love my child as much as you love him, mother." I could see that my mother was hurt, but I didn't care. I didn't meet the child for the rest of the day.

I was looking forward to my meeting with my party members. I arrived early at the venue. Everyone had their own opinion about the attack and the letters. I smiled when Mrs. Eldrich said, "Let's have a poll about who the citizens want as their president." I had been thinking the same thing. I would step down if I lost. Flynn got ready to launch the news. The seniors respected my decision to resign. The newspapers were full of articles about me the next day. People didn't know I was doing it to lure out my rivals. The poll took place on a Friday. People had only a few hours to vote. I wasn't surprised when Flynn told me someone had hacked the program. I lost by a large margin. The news spread like wildfire.

My father was disappointed. He patted my back and asked, "What's your plan, Cain?" I chuckled and replied, "Things will work out, Dad. You'll see." Reporters couldn't wait to interview me. I acted like nothing had happened and continued working. I chuckled when the leaders of the rival parties barged into my office. They demanded I leave the office. I frowned when one of the leaders yelled, "Look at how shameless he is. He had such a big mouth. What's the point in hiding in here, Cain?" The people didn't notice the cameras and the lack of security. The room got dark before I could react. Enforcers were standing in every corner of the room when the light returned. The head enforcer stood next to me. He growled and yelled, "Sit down before we make you sit down." Everyone quickly followed the head enforcer's order.

I gazed at Alexander when he said, "Give it to them." The enforcers handed the leaders a file. People started leaving one by one. There was incriminating information in those files. No one wanted to lose their position, so they withdrew. My life and title were still in danger, but I didn't care. I smiled when Alexander said, "Don't worry, we took care of everything. People won't even remember what happened." I grabbed Alexander's hand and asked, "Tell me why I can't get images of you and the little boy out of my head?" Alexander growled and uttered, "Just concentrate on your job, Mr. President. Meddling in other things won't do you good." I chuckled while looking at the mark I had left on Alexander's neck. I was now sure he wouldn't be able to hide from me. Alexander huffed and left when I tapped on his mark and said, "We'll stay in contact, sir."
