The Ancient Prophecy

36 : New ally

    The god of death was walking through the tall corridors of Mount Othrys . They were made of white marble , the same as the columns that stood from spot to spot .  Statues of Kronos were put every now and then across the hall .
    Thanatos stopped in front of a light oak door . The god knocked one time . He waited for a response . Nothing came . He slowly opened the door .
    Rhea , queen of the Titans stood in the middle of her chamber , looking surprised as Thanatos stepped inside . She had her hair in a long and loose braid laying on her back . She was wearing a white chiton , long that it reached her ankles .
"Thanatos ?" Rhea said with a tone as shocked as her face .
"Greetings , queen of the Titans ." Thanatos slightly bowed .
"What are you doing around here ? Aren't you supposed to be in the Underworld ?" she asked .
"It's boring in there . And besides , I have some news that might pique your interest ."
    Rhea arched an eyebrow at him "And what could these news be ?"
    Thanatos took a deep breath "They are finally here ."
    The titaness's eyes widened "You mean..?" she started .
"Yes ." Thanatos nodded "They came at my palace . And they have a plan to finnaly end this and bring them back ."
     A smile cracked Rhea's serious face .
"But they need help ." Thanatos added ,"I said I could convince you to join them and other titans that could be willing to help ." 
"Let's say I know someones who might like to get rid of my husband.." Rhea smirked .
"Then ask those someones if they could like to join the Resistence's army ." Thanatos suggested "After the demigod finishes their mission and we gather enough forces , they said they will plan an attack ."
"Great . That is great ." Rhea said with a smile . 
"Then I suppose it's my time to go . I have some souls to ordonate ." Thanatos turned his back and proceeded to grab the doorknob .
     As he was about to open the door , Rhea suddenly said , "Please watch over them ."
     The god of death turned his head back "What ?"
"Watch over them . Make sure they make it out alive ."
"I'll try but I can't promise anything ."
"Remember , they are our only hope ."

They are our only hope , kept replaying in Thanatos' head while he was walking again through the marble halls .
     In his inattention he bumped into someone . As he looked to see who he stumbled upon , Thanatos froze in shock to see that the one was Kronos himself .
     The king of the Titans looked at him in question . Then , to Thanatos' surprise , smiled "Thanatos !" he said .
      Thanatos quickly bowed "Greetings , lord Kronos ."
"I never saw you around here in a long time ."
"Yes , since your victory's party ." Thanatos forced a smile .
"How is your work in the Underworld going ?" Kronos asked .
"Pretty good ."
"That is good to hear ." Kronos smiled again .
"If you do not mind , I have to go now ." Thanatos waved then started walking away across the hall . Luckly Kronos did not stop him nor did he bump into anyone else .
Well that was a close one .
