The legend of Korra: The Sansar Returns

Chapter 11

3rd POV

Korra tries to break free from her chains. She woke up with her arms and legs were tied up in chains extending in different corners. Zaheer enters the room with Ghazan and Ming-Hua next to him.

" When I get out of here, none of you will survive!" Korra spat enraged.

"You won't get out, unless the Metal Clan has taught you a way to bend platinum. Once we administer this poison, your body will naturally react, forcing you into the Avatar State in an effort to keep you alive. Sadly for you, you'll be entering it for the last time." Zaheer said. From behind slowly entered a familiar figure. 

Korra's eyes widen in horror, "No! The Avatar Cycle!"

Hope sparked in Korra's eyes seeing Yukari enter the room, but something was different about her. She looked beaten and bruised, with strange aura enveloping her body. Some of the members of the Red Lotus appeared beside her and bow in reverence. 

"W-What happened to Yukari?"

"Your friend here is no more, for she is called to be the vessel of our goddess Kurayami." Zaheer said calmly, "So we lucky few, this band of brothers and sisters in anarchy, are witnessing the beginning of an era of true freedom. Together, we will forge a world without kings and queens, without borders or nations, where Man's only allegiance is to himself and those he loves. We will return to the true balance of natural order with the help and guidance of our Mistress. And though both of you will never again be reborn, your name will echo throughout history: Korra, and Yukari the last Avatar and Sansar. And Kurayami, our eternal mistress."

"Yukari!" Korra shouted.

Yukari slowly lifted her head and opened her eyes, revealing them to be glowing red and cat-like. Korra grew scared, seeing her friend in this sort of state. She was more scared of becoming a memory.

Zenji's POV

Finally, we'd arrive to the caves with the help of Kai and his air bison. As we arrived the caves were carved stone statues of airbenders in ages past. 

"This is the place where I saw them taking the airbenders is around here." Kai said as we began to descend.

"This must be a memorial site for Guru Laghima." Asahi breathed in wonderment.

"And where they took Yukari and Korra." Mako spoke.

The bison lands in front of the cave. Tonraq and Mako help Tenzin down and groaned in pain as he got off of Oogie. Su approached him.

"Find the airbenders, and my family." Tenzin pleaded.

"Don't worry. I'm not coming out without our children and the rest of your people." Su said.

I turned to see my father glaring inside the caves, I approached him and place a hand on his shoulder, "We'll save mom and Yukari." he turns his stern look softens as he places a hand over mine. 

With that, the eight of us entered the caves. Su and Lin created a tunnel towards them creating an element of surprise. Once they reached the airbenders, Lin launches an earth pillar towards one Lotus member, knocking him into a wall. Two other sentries shot thrusted their fists as small boulders come hurdling towards us. Su swiftly thrusts her arms upward creating an earth barrier, right in time. Asami and I jumped from over the pillar and made our way towards the sentries. One of the sentries was about to thrust another boulder when I quickly chi blocked his arm and lower calves causing him to fall limp towards the ground, at the same time Asami had electrocuted another sentry knocking him out with her glove.

Once everyone was freed, Jinora quickly rushed toward Kai, "You're alive!" she exclaims running over to Kai, "I can't believe it."

"Why? Just because I was blown out of the sky, and fell hundreds of feet down a cliff? Don't you know it takes more than that to get rid of me?" Kai grins while Jinora nudges him on the shoulder.

"For your information I saved you. Where's my thanks?" I asked, Kai glared at me while Jinora chuckled. Just then I felt a hard punch on my arm, I turned to find Mei-Li with a cross look on her face, her eyes welling up with tears. I looked away, "Look, I know I messed up but--" Before I could explain further, Mei-Li pulled me in and kissed me. For a brief moment I thought I saw stars then shook my head and smirked. 

We then quickly hurried but what I found I wasn't prepared for.
