April 1998

Val never did realise just how much she loved the Devon house until she moved out of it. The whiff of fresh air, the bundles of greenery that engulfed them whole, the seclusion from the blaring world, the ability to sit outside with Damon Albarn as they drank and worked on their songs.

But that was all gone now.

She moved out of the house a few days after the two broke up, all whilst Damon cooped himself up in the house in Notting Hill, the one he now shared with Jamie Hewlett.

She wished she could fully grasp and understand how everything crumbled apart so quickly, but the truth was—she had no idea herself.

Valia spent most of her time with Oasis, working on their new album, which was released last year, and became the fastest-selling album in the British Chart history. They were glorious.

She fell back into partying at the Supernova Heights, her habits of consuming crystal meth and ecstasy and cocaine reached the top of the mountain. Valia was barely back home in Devon, preoccupied with touring with the band, and if not that, then she was getting high and wasted.

Damon could hardly recognise her. Nobody could. The tabloids continued to lurk around, berating her whenever the opportunity came, she was faced with abuse whenever someone in the band walked out. It was exactly what everybody expected to happen when she returned back to Oasis. Perhaps it was worse.

But the pair was hardly holding on. Damon and Blur was on the brink of falling, with Graham growing tired of Alex's playboy antics, especially when the Blur bassist would often hit on Mel Davies. And Graham was not enticed by the frontman's excessive control over the group's image and music. It no longer felt like the band he knew, and it was devastating to say the least.

Damon ended up allowing Jamie Hewlett move into his Notting Hill house, something neither Val nor Gra was entirely pleased about, considering that Jamie had previously dated Graham's ex-girlfriend without any care of how it would have affected their friendship. It was like a tight slap to the face when Damon decided that he was going to form a new band called Gorillaz with the said boy.

Valia thought that he was being insensitive towards his friendship with Graham, and that he was betraying the other boys by moving on to a different project.

And Damon berated Val for how she had turned out to be. Going as far as telling her that she needed to leave the band once and for all, or else he couldn't stand to sit and watch her burn down her life, and that Marissa was right.
