AUTHOR'S NOTE
It's with great sadness & no relief to say that we have reached long awaited(?) chapter. Here it comes lads, thank you so much for 10K reads and following me throughout this pleasantly fun writing process!Do note, this is NOT the last chapter, though it is the end of Oasis. I will be writing perhaps three more chapters covering 1) events leading up to Oasis' formation and its early years. 2) Damon and Val's first night together after leaving the Blur party. 3) THE PRESENT and the reveal of who she actually ends up with!
Now go on, read the damn chapter.
✩ 20th August 2009, Dig Out Your Soul Tour: Bridlington
Blur reunited for a tour in early August. And with some hidden knowledge, Oasis played their last tour together.
When Damon Albarn reconnected with the rest of the former Blur members, that ultimately meant that all scrapes of recordings for Gorillaz was put on hold, and Valia Mick was left with nothing to do during the break. Instead of flying off back to London, the ex Blur frontman insisted that she could stay at his rented residence back in New York. After a long contemplation, she decided she would take up the offer, only returning back to England when the tour resumed.
The bassist, determined to avoid being around the band at all costs, took the last flight back to London. And by the time she arrived in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, it was the afternoon before the day they were meant to perform.
She hadn't seen Liam Gallagher then, and frankly, did not want to. Val spent most of her time sleeping and recovering from the jet-lag, slipping in and out for soundcheck. Much to her luck, Liam hadn't shown up for it.
Though, bumping into him was inevitable. They were bandmates after all, and there were no mediums of particularly avoiding the frontman. And before they had to walk on the stage, she undoubtedly was going to step into the backstage room and see Liam. As disappointing as it was.
"Look who's back from 'er romantic getaway with the biggest posh fuck in the world!" A Mancunian accent blared out with a swarm of bitterness, smiling condescendingly towards the door when the bassist made her way in.
She ignored his comment, already dreading the thought of being around Liam and the band for the next week and days. Instead, the bassist made herself over to Noel and Gem, silently conversing with them rather than letting the frontman get to her.
Only Liam was drunk, as he always was, and her insistence on acting as though he didn't exist prompted his rage even further. "I'm fuckin' talking to ya."
Noel and Gem watched as she defeatedly drew her eyes closed for a brief moment, suppressing her overwhelmed emotions. Val tried her best not to act hostile, mostly because she was determined to fix things with Liam for Levon's sake. Tossing the frontman back with the same behaviour he was showing her would only make their relationship strained, even more than it already was. It didn't matter that Liam had continuously agonised her throughout the end of their relationship, or the things he had accused her of—–she was willing to set their differences aside if it meant that their son could have two civilised parents.
