Chapter 49

"Type, you can't go on like this, Rain needs to know. I'm sure that if you manage to rebuild your relationship with Rain, it will be easier for us to ensure that Venice can't harm him" Tharn remarked as it was becoming increasingly obvious that Type's own plan was destroying him day by day. Type sat up and shook his head, he glared at Tharn and said:

"No, it is painful but we have to continue like this... we're so close to the goal now. This weekend you will go to meet our son and give him the money as usual. He loves you... I'm sure that if you play your cards correctly, he will tell you everything about his current relationship with Venice, and this will only give us an advantageous position to protect him..."

Tharn sighed and nodded. The following days were quite uneventful for all the families involved: Type seemed to be able to move on from that sudden break down, while Kim apparently accepted to give Rain a chance, in the meantime Payu simply did his best to avoid the topic of their families in order to keep his boyfriend happy.

On Sunday morning Rain got a message from his father, telling him that he was coming. Rain was taking a shower as he received the message, and since the notification rang pretty loudly, Payu instinctively gave it a look on the locked screen of Rain's phone. When Rain came out, Payu said:

"You got a message from your father"

"You didn't read that, did you?" Rain asked as he rubbed his hair with a towel.

"Well... fine, I don't want to lie to you. I read it because it was showing on the screen. Do you think that I could..."

"No, Payu, you can't come" Rain replied resolutely while he was texting back to his father. Payu sighed and nodded, pretending to be a little disappointed almost as if he believed that Rain was ashamed of him. Rain looked at the phone again and then back at Payu, he rolled his eyes and after a heavy sigh he added:

"You can stay in the car... but don't you dare get off, clear?" this wasn't exactly what Payu desired, but since it was quite a rapid result, he wished that the few hours before the meeting could make Rain change his mind even more.

After a few hours, Rain and Payu went back to Rain's house. He turned to Payu, who was on the driver seat, and ordered:

"I will go upstairs, he will arrive here shortly. If I see that the situation isn't that tense, I might call you. Ok?" and Payu nodded excitedly. Soon after that, Tharn finally arrived and Rain welcomed him warmly. Tharn hugged him and then his son prepared something to drink.

"So... how is it going with Ple?" Tharn asked. He obviously knew the question, but he couldn't let his son know that there was someone constantly checking on his life.

"We broke up" Rain responded light heartedly.

"What a pity, you loved her so much..." Tharn added as he sipped his tea.

"Yeah well... she wasn't the right person for me. She never missed a chance to talk shit about me, I couldn't stand her any longer"
