"Thank you for the invitation, Porchay, I'll inform Venice and his boyfriend as soon as possible, I'm sure they will appreciate it a lot" Pete said and finally hung up. He walked to the center of the living room, sat down and put the phone on the coffee table. He let himself sink into the armchair with his eyes closed as he rubbed his forehead. Vegas couldn't hear the phone call so he genuinely wondered what could make his husband so frustrated, however he knew that he just had to wait a little longer and Pete would have explained everything without a starting question.
"Do you remember when you blamed me because I couldn't understand that Som wasn't a suitable boyfriend for our son? Well, guess what? Your instinct doesn't work as good as you think" Pete remarked as he kept rubbing his forehead.
"What are you talking about? Venice is incredibly happy with Rain, he doesn't act as his servant, and most importantly he managed to confront you and even forced you to retreat, I see nothing wrong about him" Vegas replied confidently.
"Oh, really? Well, we didn't notice a little detail, he's Tharn and Type's son" Pete responded.
"It doesn't ring a bell" Vegas quickly added and started sipping his drink, then he finally realized what he meant by that, his eyes widened and he almost chocked on his drink.
"Wait, you mean... that Tharn and that Type?" Like... them?!" Vegas exclaimed.
"Yes, exactly. We are lucky that Porchay managed to put some reason into your cousin's head, since he wanted to interrogate him. Chay wants us to participate to a family dinner and we have to take Rain too. I'm sure he plans to use this occasion to analyze Rain's behavior, I'm not really optimistic..." Pete responded.
"Do you think Venice already knows about it?" Vegas asked.
"You know your son, maybe Rain told him about his parents and knowing that the whole family would have opposed them, he just didn't tell us the truth. Or maybe..."
"Or maybe Venice doesn't know anything about it, that's what you're implying, am I right? Well, there is nothing we can do at the moment. Although I hate to admit it, but Porchay really found the best way to corner Rain without causing unnecessary chaos" Vegas said as he tried to examine the whole situation.
"I really can't imagine which scenario would be worse, it is either our son who doesn't trust us, or Rain is just a liar..." Pete remarked.
"Oh, I can clearly tell you which one is worse. If Rain didn't tell Venice the truth, and most importantly if Venice finds out about Rain's family before Rain confesses, he will be devastated... You remember how betrayed he felt after Som... this would probably be much worse"
"What would be worse, father?" Venice asked as he entered the living room.
Pete's eyes widened as he was so focused on finding a solution to their problem that he wasn't ready to fix another sudden trouble.
"Porchay invited us to a family dinner, he would be very happy if you could bring Rain too, we were just worried that a formal setting could be a little too much for Rain, as he looks so naïve" Vegas quickly intervened.
"Oh, I see... well, I'll convince him, don't worry about that. Just tell me the details later, I'll try to make Rain used to the idea subtly at first"
