At that moment Rain realized that he had to do something if he wanted to put the conversation back into a field he could control more easily. He looked at Payu for a moment and then he turned to Pete, he took a deep breath, since it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to even speak, given how uncomfortable he was feeling at that table, and then he finally managed to pose a question.

"Khun Pete, may I ask you how you met your husband?" hearing that question, Pete almost chocked. Vegas was surely enjoying this a little too much, he took a sip of his drink and turned to Payu, looking at him like if he wanted to ask him if he actually told Rain about their story, however Venice looked at him and shook his head a little bit. Vegas understood that Rain was just trying to change the topic.

"Work. I'm sure that Venice told you that I worked as a bodyguard for his uncle in the past" Pete replied after he got himself back together.

"Oh... no... actually Payu forgot to tell me anything about your previous work. I should have guessed it considering your... ummm.. athletic build" Rain replied, hoping that a compliment could make his difficult position slightly better.

"Well, physical exercise is very important, although a lot of people seem to ignore this on purpose" Pete replied. Rain instinctively looked down at himself and felt even worse as the compliment didn't seem to get the desired effect.

"I agree, Rain could use our gym if he feels like taking care of himself a little better. However, my dear Pete... when will you stop acting like an expert of healthy life choices? If I remember correctly, Venice had to fight for years before finally making you quit smoking." Vegas added. He didn't really care about Rain, but he felt like he could be a better choice than Som, and so he was willing to do anything necessary to make him stay.

"You were a smoker too, Vegas. I'll be honest with you, Rain: I don't like you, but I will give you a chance, you better not waste it" Pete said resolutely.

"You aren't the one supposed to give me a chance, it's your son, who has the right to do so" Rain said as he stood up irritated.

"trust me kid, you don't want me as your enemy"

"You started it. I'm not enough for you son? You thought Som was better? Oh yes, he has better notes and everyone regards him as a polite guy, but he made your son feel like a servant! Is that what you want for your dear Venice!?" Rain shouted.

Pete looked at his son and then down, realizing his mistake.
